The argument that anime should be spared criticism for doing stupid crap that gets attention because it has the mask of super-deformed candy-colored cuteness to appeal to man-children is a crappy argument (don't get me wrong, we all clearly like anime here). Then you go and reference FLCL as an example for the argument and go so far as to needlessly define it as something that pays no heed to conventional writing and predetermined plot (also, I personally just didn't like that show).
you seem to have missed the point, ANIME CAN BE COMPLETELY RETARDED AND STILL HAVE SOME WATCHING VALUE, while such things in real life are simply mind degradation.
i know using FLCL was an extreeme example, yes its retarded, yes it pisses me off to no tomorow, but i watched it all and i found it interesting because it was different then most anime and probably nothing that current producer could crap out in hollywood, even the "deep" plot pieces made more sense then the matrix. Have you ever asked yourself this question. Anime can look like real people [drawing those isnt that, deadly there are some anime which do that, but theyr not popular], so why dont people do it? why dont they make realistic anime? its simply because they can, and on top of that is still enjoyable, it doesnt matter that the character has eyes 3 times bigger then in the human anatomy as long as it looks nice.you can't equalize madoka with kamen raider because they are differently made with a different audience view, what doesnt make sense in action movies, can make in an simply because there are different rules [or less rules].

also i think musicals are ****

This is by far the second dumbest thing I've ever read. So I take it that - because they are two different mediums with two different demographics in mind - James Cameron's Avatar did not blatantly plagiarize from Call Me Joe? The plagiarism claim against Madoka comes from the fact that many - if not all - of the plot-points and characters were completely ripped-off from Ryuki. This isn't a matter of, "Nope. Different demographics. Can't be plagiarism (Which is a ****ing retarded belief, by the way)."

It should also be noted that the writer himself, Gen Urobuchi, stated that, and I quote, "Ryuki was a masterpiece with its battle royal style. It's okay to have a few similarities." Of course, "a few" is an understatement. Need I say more?

And here I was thinking that Avatar ripped of Battle Angel Alita and Gundam Seed. Of course, I did "deduct" that when I was like 15.

In Call Me Joe, the paraplegic main character, Ed Anglesey, connects to an artificial, blue, alien body, named Joe, to explore, adapt, and find information on the planet via a "bed" that connects his mind to the aforementioned body. In the end of the novel, Ed permanently fuses his mind into Joe's body. Now, what do we get when we hamfistedly toss in some basic Romeo and Juliet tropes?

If you think about it, AMV Hell clips are more MADs than AMVs.

Whats the point of this thread? Whats the point of life if it's ultimately pointless? What is the point of having a fetish if you are just going to die alone without meeting someone who shares it? What is a game without achievements? What is a Man?

What's a "MAD" and how is it different from an AMV?

A MAD is our ****** slave of a mod whom we bend to our will daily, while an AMV is a music video made with anime.
