I'm pretty sure most people aren't watching that show for the plot. Besides, I liked Adventure 02. I remember the former half of it being good, at least.

I don't understand why being focused to a younger audience has any excuse for the plot-holes in 02, hell, *I* knew the plot holes in 02 when I saw them as a kid. Needless to say: Dark Ocean.

If you're watching a show for a younger audience, you really shouldn't be getting your expectations that high. That's like playing Mega Man Legends and expecting it to have combat difficulty on par with Quake or something.

Still, there are good kids anime, Tamers proved that. Just because of the target demographic, doesn't mean the quality has to be lowered... things like Princess Tutu are good examples of this. Being half-assed is being half-assed, its target demographic should NEVER be an excuse for it.

Hell alot of the problem also stems from companies like 4kids dumbing down every show they release even if it was already aimed at a young audience. It's worse when it's something like DBZ or Sailor Moon where they lower the target age to suit their needs.

I understand what you're saying and I agree that Adventure 02 wasn't the best Digimon series, but I still think that you're being a bit overcritical of it. Sure, there can be well-written children's anime, but I don't hold all kodomo shows to the standard of Tamers. That would be like me judging every anime ever based on the standard set by Legend of the Galactic Heroes and calling every other show dumb by comparison or comparing every mecha anime to Armored Trooper Votoms and calling every other show unrealistic and silly by comparison. Simply put, if I were that concerned about plot, I wouldn't be watching a show that's nearly guaranteed to be simplistic by nature in the first place.

Personally, I give little to no concern about dub changes. I mean, there's nothing stopping me from watching the original version.

I understand what your saying, but in my opinion, 02 is still inexcusable for what it did, and I'm holding it to the first season. it had plot points that go nowhere (it could have done SO MUCH with the Dark Ocean and Daemon Corps! SO, SO MUCH!) , little to no development for the newer kids besides Daisuke/Davis and Ken, (The First SEASON did much better), oh and the ****ing epilogue which ended all hope of doing anything with these characters ever again and ****s all over the established characters to the point they are out of character! (Sorato...wait, WHAT?!) Adventure and Tamers endings were good because they were open ended, there was a sliver of hope that they would see their partners again, the characters all show their development nicely in stark contrast to their behavior at the beginning of the series and it concluded the series nicely...02.... yeah, none of the things happened. JesuOtaku's 02 Retrospective lays out all my problems I have with 02 out neat and to the point, and states it better far better than I can, so I'll point you over there http://blip.tv/jesuotaku/digimon-zer...-one-1-4366616 far better than I could ever hope to lay it out.

To be fair: the Digimon dub got away with A LOT of ****. Besides changes to the names, and some minor quirks in the dubbing process, Tamers only has three major things changed from it: lack of explosions of buildings (after 9/11, understandable), some censoring of nudity (Biomerging) and toning down the violence (guns pointed at heads seems to be a big no-no, also the digimon BLEED in the Japanese version). Fox-Kids... Digimon, Power Rangers and Beast Wars... eat your heart out 4kids.

In this context, what you said makes perfect sense. I understand your qualms with Adventure 02, but I still think it was watchable, at least.

I'm just saying that they should just market the shows to their original audience and not make them overly kiddie. Some shows like Sailor Moon, Digimon and yes even Naruto are better in their original versions and quite enjoyable but as kids we're forced to watch these shows in a diluted form. At least now kids have the internet and other sources like unedited dvd releases to give them a chance to watch the show the way it was meant to be seen.
