Got my copy of Dark Souls Design Works in the mail today. It's pretty ****in' Nito; however, the entire interview section is in Jap'.

Elder Scrolls online in all likelihood is going to blow, but it's not even being made by Bethesda so I don't care. Also, who the **** uses the hero engine?

I'm holding judgement until I see it in action for myself and the results finished product. The screenshots themselves aren't doing much, but the interviews with the game director shows he's a huge Elder Scrolls nerd (So much lore talk) and is working closely with Bethesda on it. So we can't say Bethesda doesn't have a hand in it.

Better portraying women is a huge problem we have yet to solve in the industry. To say hitman is particularly egregious is an exaggeration and the world set up by hitman paint men any better than women, in the Hitman universe everyone is a bastard coated bastard with bastard filling. That said, a discussion needs to be opened up about how we can improve the way we portray women in games.

In some cases that works, it's not nearly that clear cut, I suppose I'd generally agree with this but gender can and should be a part of the character, now they should be compelling and interesting regardless of gender but gender can also be a huge part of a character's identity.
