Odessa came from a book (and later video game) called Suikoden. She is the initial leader of the Underground Rebellion fighting off a corrupt court in the story. Early on, she is betrayed by one of her trusted council, and dies trying to protect her people. (in the game, your main character becomes the new leader after her death).

Finding the book is near impossible, but the game is much more common. If you've never played the suikoden series, i highly recomend as it's simply amazing.

My name's Vicky, or you can call me Odessa. Or other things too, but that gets complicated, and usually other names are deragatory, and...i'm sorry, did i have a point?

Yes, so I'm Vicky. And um, I ramble a bit. Ok, a lot. I am here as my "friend" ( cough ) Abyss has talked me into it. ok, I askled him/her ( i'm told not to reveal his/her gender....don't know why...but ok ) as we hang out a lot in real life, and online. The forum we used to go to together went and died, so we have not had a place to meet up online...until now! so yes, I am joining this wacky little group in hell to be with my squishy one.

About me: I'm insane. clinically, too! I have my own page in the DSM of mental diseaeses. I am 26 years old, and stand an amazing 6'5" tall. ( my family's german, and i'm not even the tallest in my immediate family!) I like to cook, play video games, watch anime ( duh ), read, write, and be a terrible nerd playing DnD. I travel a lot for work, as I kid you not, I'm a model. For some strange reason, people on the internet usually don't belive that...go figure!

Anywho, this is me in a nutshell. I am very open about my life, and will answer any questions ( not regarding abyss's name/gender ) you might have. I hope to get to know your merry group soon!

Okay, I know this goes back to your first post, but what the hell? (get the pun? I know. It's bad) I don't care. I didn't know you played DandD. What is your favorite class?

my favorite class...tough call. for DnD, i usally play a Rogue/thief or a cleric, depending on the type of game we are playing. i've had DM's who are battle intensive going into every dungeo nwe find (where i go cleric) and then i've had games set entirely in a city, where i go thief for obvios reasons :)

one of my favorrite games was playing as a level one thief being a draft dodger in major city during a major war. we never dungeon crawled, but the focus was to survive. Our group was (eventually) forced out of the city, stole a boat, and became pirates, and that lead to more battles... but it was great fun.


besides DnD, i played MERP (middle earth role playing) more than anything. there, my favorite class is the Arcanist Mage. No having to memorize your spells, instead using a MP system, and a ton of powerful spells to abuse. You can start throwing weak lightning bolts at level 2, create your own castle out of thin air at level 15, and set off any natural disasater or a nuclear bomb at level 50.

My fav game here? I was a Arcane wizard chased out of my hometown for studying forbidden magic. I have visions of grandeur, and i was going to save the world by taking it over. I started out by claiming an old, unoccupied tower I found in a dessert, and declared myself "Lord Meredur, Lord of the Southern Lands." I went north with my new title, and convicned people i was a real lord, and began taking over.

By game's end, i ruled 3/4 of the world, and my magic had pushed the resistance back to the farthest reaches of the northen mountains. The DM essentially said "i've tried to kill you every way i can think of, but i give up. you win." The game ended with my character being crowned Emperor :)


The next game, i said i was going to do it again, and no one beleived me.

I was right :)

at this point i've refrained from killing the group for the simply face of i'm getting tired of going through character creation and getting them to learn how to work together with there characters...

at least you have big goals, they tend to settle for smaller quicker to reach ones...

Ah, but how fun is it then? I think a good DM knows how to discipline the players, but most important is the ability to keep a fully functional game world in their head and be willing to let the players do pretty much anything they want in that framework.

Now the game she's talking about... the DM probably could have been tougher on her in the earlier stages to help balance things out. But the fact that there was actually a good world to conquer is more important than anything IMHO.

nope, it is all my leet skills. one fight, the DM had an assasin go after my world conquering mage ,and used a non-existant talisman to nullify all magic in the area, and then drew a sword. i'm a level 6 mage. no other options, i draw my "previos) ornamnetal short sword, and proced to screw logic so badly with dice skills the world has never seen. not only did i kick his butt, i chased him down into the forest when he ran away. he trid to lose me by swimming, climbing, etc, ofrcing me to use skills a magic-less mage should not be able to do, but i outrolled him, chased him down, and took him prisoner.

the DM ruled that he was so impressed by my skill, he formerly reconized my power and right to rule and thereby swore allergiance to me. he became my right hand man and one of my most trusted officials :)


and the world itself was in chaos, with warlords and tribes; anyone with power could rule, and i gained that power.

well, except with warriors. i have never managed to make a decent warrior. everytime i think i do, somethign bad happens lol. I had one get hit so hard, he had amnesia and the GM ruled "you think you are a bard." i had three guys lose an eye, arm, or head in thier first fights, ending their careers quite quickly. i can do anythign else, but i don't do warriors.

i don't know, harry potter just feels so damn generic and way to many people got behind what could be considered a standard book series (the first book was good after that everything started losing steam and the subtext was all very preachy).

twilight is to books, what shoujo manga is to manga. directed at the female audience. there's nothing wrong with it, just not my thing. from what i understand the movie kinda overdid everything .
and also i'm a firm believing in the small fact that vampires should burst into flames in sunlight, not get all sparkly like someone poured a bottle of glitter into their body-soap.

several reasons. the series is a mix of cliches and poor writing found in so many books, and yet this nobody comes out of no where to make billions with perhaps the most influntial book of this generation. there are plenty of better writers who have worked harder only to be shunned by public opinion, and it burns me up how succesful she is when so many like (like myself) have failed miserably.

second, i am sik of everyone talkign about the book/smovies/games as they are the best thigns ever made hands down. dealign with fanboys/fangirls annoy me, and i resent the series for it.

third... well, it was the favorite series of the ex who broke my heart, and i always think of her when i think of harry potter.

sorry i'll use flamer from now on hehe and I'm not one to worry about peoples offense If you slow me down I'l leave you behind and if that's trouble i use you for cannon fodder (the enemy needs body's to waste there ammo on.) real quote BTW and a common strategy in war make the grunts charge the bunker they wast their ammo on thousands of targets over a peroied of time (and in the soviet side of WW2 if you turned back to base your own men will shoot you "you flee the battle your a traitor!" another quote) to be honest it's very good stragity if the enemy is in seage (bunkered up and defending) and physical to the enemy in the thought that they have that many people to waste on us well lose anyway so they give up the will to fight hada hada anyway to me people are like resorses use them right if you have too many well use them up hehe call me a monster if you want I'm just efficient

Also. Harry Potter: Yes, some of it is tripe. However, much of the books is actually good writing. Twilight: Uh, I'm not against the whole shojo thing... but I think one judge of a "great" book is one that can appeal to those outside of its target audience. Twilight cannot, Harry Potter can. and i know twilight is full of cliches; i never said it wasn't. but twilight has been out for a while; it'so nly getting known now for it's movie and teen appeal. it's not ground breaking, and it shouldn't be haield as a masterpiece; it's a solid book, but not ground breaking. so is harry potter. it's not ground breaking, and yet somehow it has been hyped up so much. i'm glad it brought attention to the fantasy genre, but it ruined it's own boon by being writen at a children's level, dismissing ALL fantasy as children's literature. it's infuriating.

acculy it's a internal conflict I have with my self trying to be ... a better man and all that but the messed up crap that goes on in my head that over years of well mental Discipline that ...well fail at times the best way to describe it is if you put a bolder into a river over time it will erode to a pebble that is how i feel up there i seem to be on the side lines and so forth because im fighting my self it's veary hard to explain it and ther is a pain i can't fully describe as well not just the migraines i live with every day but another one that's with me all the time even wile i sleep it's like ....say you have a broken leg and have to be in a wheelchair all the time you can see that pain and feel that pain this is like i have no arms or legs and yet there here i can move them and yet i can't like you try to reach for a cup but what ever you do you cant get it that';s the best way i can enplane it and to have this wile i put "barriers and walls" to hold this pain and all others back it is veary tiring to say the least that's why i super focus on what i do becuse the pain is gone then when i stop bam it's back and i despise how and what i am so i try my hardest to be a better man at times i just give up haha I'v been in my room for 3 days and have not eaten anything at all just because i don't care anymore.... i'm sorry i just get weird every 2 months cuse the walls and stuff just fall down and i have to build them back up and that's when i ....... just give up don't ever take it personally (meaning you Odessa I'm sorry :'( ) it's just a never ending blow to me that i have to recover before the next one I truly am sorry about that.

DD... I feel for you. I really do. And I understand a lot of what you're going through because I've been through it first hand. And I understand the rest because I've contemplated going there before.

This is stuff I'm not to good at myself here, so bear with me:
First, I apologize for my previous comment. I admit it was supposed to lead you, but I didn't expect it would go this far. At the same time, I'm glad it went this far: I believe that this is a forum of friends and we're all willing to help a Hellmate in need. If I needed to throw a bit of personal venom at you to draw you out, so be it.

Alright, the stuff I've felt myself: self-loathing because of lack of discipline:
To be able to chastise yourself because of a personal failure is one thing. To decide that the failure means that there is something wrong with who you are is the step we shouldn't take. We all have our faults. We should take pride in them, because by working to fix (not cover) these faults, we build upon the good parts of our nature. Don't despair because a fault persists; it is folly to think we can ever get rid of that part of ourselves completely. Just continue to work with these faulty parts of yourself, don't openly fight them, because that divisiveness is what creates the kind of depression your in.

ALRIGHT, time for the hard part: Accept and assimilate the ugly parts of yourself. Perhaps the most difficult thing we have to do. When you show your ugly parts to other people, they are often too repulsed to think that maybe this is a part of you that you are repulsed by as well. So these people act on their impression and push you, ALL of you, away. That dirty part of you causes the rest of you pain, because you don't want to push other people away. You have to remind yourself that there is always someone out there who will love you for ALL that you are, and keep living for the day that you will find that person. If it gives you any consolation, I accept all of you.

Tactics for getting out of depression (this is what I'm not so good at): First, the ugly parts of us only get out of hand when we allow them to by feeding them to regularly. If you stop catering towards your vices, your vices will start to wither. Eg. If your problem is a lecherous mind, then cut down on your porn intake. In my case, I lack the self-discipline to do work. I try to combat my distractable nature by limiting my intake of random media. DON'T GO COLD TURKEY! The impulses in you that you are trying to minimize are never inherently bad, they just command to large a section of your personality. If you repress them completely, you end up with the reverse effect: your urges grow more powerful.
Another tactic: Redirect your impulses. Not as easy as it sounds, but maybe you can put what ever urges you're having to a good use. Eg. Porn problem? Try redirecting it onto a little more lust in your conversations. If you keep it controlled, it can do you a lot of good.

I don't know if that was totally incoherent, but give it a try. Oh, and please don't starve to death or kill yourself. It's hard to give life another try once you've given it away.

I use this...it's really hard but it's really helpful if you are able to do it. It's better than shutting that impulse down or only limiting it since by merely limiting it, it's much easier for it to return. Redirecting it makes it harder if you can find something to turn the impulses towards. Though this takes alot of time and effort,as useful said.

and DD, i'm sorry too. i was in a bit of a bad mood yesterday at...well, everyone and everything. what you said was bad...but i over reacted "just" a tad.

And to be honest, we all have our own pains, our own walls to hold up... and sometiems those walls crack, and other times they crumble. Yesterday was a "crack" for me, as my brother's friend coming over tore at my self esteem on many levels. The rape comment especially hit me hard, and i just broke down. Most days, i can handle it, but i spent most of yesterday unable to get the images of it out of my head, feeling my body touched and violated , and i couldn't stop it. I was hurting, and i lashed out. It's not something that happen often, but like i said, we all have our walls, and all walls fall at some point.

Take heart in that you're not alone in your personnel hell. And know i'm sorry, as i know your pain only too well. (hugs) be strong.

Yah! You're not alone DD! I put my problems in a really flowery way last time, but really it's simpler than that: I have a very strong and sometimes malicious personality that prefers to bulldoze other people's opinions than listen to what they have to say. The worst part is, I have the ability to rationalize all my wrongs, as I tried to do last night with the KKK thread. My daily battle is to not cave into my nature, which loves to manipulate and eventually crush people, and be a more receptive person.

We all know Odessa's problems now... so take heart in that. You're not alone ;)

OK from the Embarrassing thread to here

I had when i was around 6 or 7 I don't know for sure I was taken from my family by so called Doctors that wanted to see if they could help my migraine problem and I was seined up for "Bleeding edge treatment" so yah I was taken to a "hospital in Reno, NV were there were other kids that had "problems" some really messed up from i can remember I had no idea were i was and so forth of corse a scared 6 year old would ask for there mommy and instead i was held down to the floor and had something stuck in me and i lost the will to struggle with the people holding me down the weard thing is i could move i just didn't have a reason to do so that's what it did to me anyway i was then dragged to a room that was all white. white tile floor, white tile ceiling and white walles that had a certon wall paper on it that i can only find in doctor offices it was extremely bright in there and was about the size of a walk in closet and i was locked in there i went to a corner and huddeld up and closed my eyes later (and i don't know how long) i heard noise like muffled throu the wall kinda sound and the room was now dark. I was scared and just stared out forward and then the room was light agne tho i didn't see i come back up (it's hard to explane it) and the noise was bigger now and just kept getting bigger and i notested my head hurting as if it was going to split in half and it just kept going to the point I had to stop the pain and smased my head into the wall 7 times till i passed out (and i remember it was 7 times 6 to the back of my head and 1 to the side) the KO was the last memories I have until I was 13 all else is blank my parent's will show family pics and stuff and I will see my self at the grand canyon and in Carlsbad caverns and so forth but i have no memories of being there not a single one. it hurts to see that and more as i said about the other pain that i talked about above this post I also have ....say a sixth seance i geuss to be honest no one has ever snuck up on me or scared me I have a hiper seance to light as in a room will be pitch black with one LED from a speaker and i can see what's inside that hole room within seconds It's kinda funny to mess with friends that can't see **** and I see everything in the room among other things that just.... I shouldn't know how to do and fell coming and so forth it's weird and i just need to find an answer to my troubles or better yet an end to them and that's what i wanted to share.... thanks! :)
