The mayians first made the calender and predicted their own demise, heres other things they found out.

during every 216 years there were certain described disasters, one was the time when hernando cortez came and wiped most of them out, the time of their downfall, the next was the french revolution, then the civil war "the time when leaders would be treated badly" aka abe lincoln's assasination, and currently there is the time of change the war in afghanistan, the day that our troops retaliated on the mayians calender was "the time to settle things".

it seems that on 2012 December 21st the world will be utterly destroyed by something, the mayians also predicted that on that date woudl be the time when the sun would align with the milky way's center, making the planet's axis shift, which occurs once every 26,000 years, and would make the ground level go from flat_ to diagonal/ which in turn would make oceans spill into whole countrys, mountains crumble under their own weight, and cause many other kinds of disasters.

They figured out that we are near the end of a 5th point of time, that spands about 5600 years, which will end on 2012 Dec 21st, and at the end of each of these points of time there is always a great disaster.

But, the bible also says something about the second coming of jesus when the world is in a time of chaos, and the birthday of christ will be 4 days after the predicted doomsday, i believe in the doomsday date about 99% and i will take precautions when the time comes, but we will see whats happens in 3 years time.

People have a natural desire for order. So, they see patterns in chaos (the 216-year cycle). In fact, the Mayans made no predictions about the world at all. Their calendar ends on December 21, 2012. Most people take that to believe that the world will not exist after that. Probably, the Mayans said, "Ah, that's centuries into the future, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." In other words, they got lazy.
As for the Bible part:
I don't see how anyone can believe in any divine being, so it's not my place to make any input here.
As for Earth being aligned with the center of the galaxy:
THE GALAXY IS CIRCULAR. THEREFORE, WE ARE ALWAYS ALIGNED WITH IT. Even if such an "alignment" were to cause such a catastrophic event, we surely would have noticed it on other planets as it happened to them.

Even if the planet's axis did shift, nothing would happen because of a small phenomenon we like to call gravity. Its the reason that oceans don't spill into countries and mountains don't crumble.

OooooooooooooooooK, do you know ANYTHING about how gravity works???

Lemme quickly explain something, we are in space all the time, rotating at an unknown cosmic vector and can only judge rotation off of our perspective. Also, because gravity exists, this means that if the sun aligned with the center of the milky way..NOTHING WOULD REALY CHANGE! And technicly, you need more than two objects in 3D space to align (otherwise two points are ALWAYS aligned). Thusly I assume you mean the planets as well. which doesnt really matter, since all the planets CAN'T allign. Due to the eliptical orbit of pluto being +- 5 degreese than the other planets at any given time, and the other planets being above/below the others by afew degrees. So, thinking mathmaticly, the center of the planets would be used as the actual vectors to be measured, and if all the vectors are ALWAYS not equal, you cant ever have them be equal.

BUt back to the real problem in your logic...If the earth inverted itself, NOTHING WOULD CHANGE. Hell, we wouldnt even realize it for a while. Plus, the water wouldnt move at all.They would rotate with the planet! and btw, the ground isnt flat, the earth is a sphere! new concept!
