Okay, folks. Here we get to elaborate on our constructive critique on the first AMV Minis. A few things to keep in mind:
1) For each clip (excluding the ones you did if it applies), discuss what you liked or didn't like about it. Don't limit it to just "I didn't like it. It was lame and not funny," or "OMG This was the most awesome clip EVAR!"
2) Discuss why it wasn't funny and, more importantly, what you would've done differently (e.g. longer or shorter time, different choice of footage or audio, etc.). If it's just a matter of personal taste, acknowledge that as well. That's what it boils down to in the end.
3) Discuss why it was funny! Maybe they're on to something and should keep it up! (e.g. element of surprise, timing, clever pop-culture reference, satire, etc.)
Feel free to add your own thoughts on critique as well. Take it away!

didn't we have this down in the original post of episode 1? is this topic really necessary?

Can't go wrong with cute and silly, either.
I needs more time as well. If you guys'd like, we could do one at a time.

I'll start. First, let me say in advance that since I haven't seen every anime featured here in its entirety, I may not fully appreciate the joke. I'll do my best do judge each clip as is and ask questions along the way, though.
Actually, I'd like to start with the opening. Great timing, stylish, and short, sweet and to the point. Plus I've now got Lights Out, God Help Me's theme song stuck in my head. I hope you're happy, LOGHM! *shake fist* Only critique: I think it'd be a good idea to have several theme songs in different styles for the series. The theme songs so far have been pretty diverse, which aptly reflects the eclectic content of AMV Hell overall. I'm by no means suggesting that we have a new one for each episode. (That'd be a bit much.) Just a few themes in different styles to shake things up a bit.
Feel free to disagree. I'm all ears.
ATHF + Dokuro-chan = pure genius:
It's not often you see something so outlandish as a headless body propelling itself through space, so this came as a pleasant surprise (understatement of the century). This worked really well as a scene by itself. I also found it deliciously ironic that Dokuro-chan played the sane one in this clip. XD If I had to nit-pick, I'd say the lip-sync to "Why, it's your mama, Steve! Get the axe!" should have been more precise. Overall, though, I had a giggle fit. It was beautiful.
Geez, that was long. More to come later.

Light's Out's song is admirably catchy mainly because the bits and pieces that could have easily made a dreadful or even just forrgettable theme work notably well in this form. And the opening was very to the point stating a ground that is immediatally shook by the first clip.
I wouldn't go so far as to call the combination genius as much as I would to say exceptionally clever even considering common editing processes. What's admirable about AMV Hell as a whole is that like WarioWare, it stops clips at the right time for the joke to sink in before the editing falls apart. The people that make the clips have as much fun as we do as a result and this clip was reasonably fun, if unsubtle. It gets ***1/2/**** only because that could very well have been the point.

Thanks for your props on my song. I think that my song's audio was up too high in the vid, maybe? It sounds even more distorted than it's meant to sound. Or maybe it's just my media player. Anyway, my nitpick for this post:
The Turbonegro video, while I started laughing the second the opening notes were struck, the lip-syncing, was, uh, not so good to say the least. It also could've just started with "WHERE ARE YOUR FRIENDS, Man? WHERE ARE YOUR FRIENDS!?" And gotten the same amount of laughs.
Like I Said, Though. Still Funny.

well yeah his theme is pretty good, I actually wasn't a fan of the opening, it just seemed to me that the past ones have all been better, it was just too generic(ok this is probably the last time I'm going to say it)

It was just the player I was using that amped the audio up to untolerable levels. Tried it with WMP and it sounded fine.
as for the opening, it's a lot shorter than the others due to the episode being less than half the length of the previous shortest episode...I think.

Cowboy Bebop - Pure Pwnage
Pure pwnage, indeed. Not much to say here. Fits Spike’s personality perfectly. Great timing. Great punchline.
Bleach - Men In Black
I heard the explanation for this joke after the fact. Now that it understand it I think it works very well. Thuper.
Berserk - Waterboy
Overall I thought this was quite funny. What really sold this one for me was hearing the guys complaining while horse and human heads flew through the air. If I were to make any changes, I’d sync the audio more precisely at the beginning. Also, I’d have the complaining start just as soon as the slaughter begins, rather than waiting until the heads start flyin’.
All My Friends Are Dead
Better lip-sync, and you’ve got yourself an awesome clip. That is all.
Death Note - Elevator Music
Simplicity at its finest. What could possibly be more menacing than evil elevator music? XD
Code Geass - Cream Filling
The build up for this one was great. If I were to change anything, I would’ve started it about 10 seconds in. Where IS the cream filling, anyway?
To be continued....

There was some criticism of the "Cwapface?" clip earlier on in the thread, but I thought that it was carried off quite well. I haven't watched Azumanga Daioh so I didn't appreciate how it reflects the actual scene in the anime proper (according to Doominus on the self-critique thread), but I was able to enjoy it on its own merits. What makes the clip is how Osaka's head moves during her responses - reinforcing the impression that it's her actually speaking them, not just having an audiotrack overlaid on the scene - and the stunned looks of the two other girls at her "perfect score", which was nicely exaggerated.
To continue on with another of Doominus's clips, I greatly enjoyed the "Colours of the Wind" clip - until the final shot. Before that it had been very well cut, with actions that complemented the audio from Sakaki's expressive singing to the overlaid wolf and moon. However, the final shot of "Pocahaki", where her arm rotates while the rest of her remains stock-still, looked quite wooden and unfortunately broke the smoothness of the rest of the clip.
While I haven't watched Azumanga Daioh, from what I've seen of it in clips and other AMVs it comes across as pretty surreal, so the "Fishheads" clip worked quite well - weird music for a bizarre series!

Glad you liked them, kapparomeo!
Though Osaka usually stares off into space and hardly moves at all, I had to include that little head-tilt of hers. I don't think it would've been the same without it. :D
Interesting you should mention the "Pocaki" shot. In the original scene I swiped from Pocahontas, she really is that still, because, well, that's how she is. She is a stoic, rock-steady individual.
And yes, Azumanga Daioh is quite surreal. I think you're in for a real treat. ;)

Princess Tutu/Bang the Drum
This one was super cute, particularly her slightly insolent attitude in the middle of the clip. :D Just a couple critiques: The scene where she's in the fog appears to be looped. If the original shot is actually that short, I guess it can't be helped, though you could always slow it down and see how it looks. Also, for the first shot, I would've lip-synced "I wanna bang on the drum all day," as well as the beginning. That's just me, though.
If I may ask, what does turning her head 180 degrees do?
Odeo 808/Under Pressure
I too have a thing for silly jokes like this. I think it works, and the joke lasts just long enough to get the point across.
Trigun/South Park
In addition to being lots of fun, this song fits perfectly with the footage from Trigun. I honestly can't think of any critiques for it.

I'm new to this site, but I can critique AMV Minis episode. Since I like this episode, I decide to pick my favorites out of all the clips instead the bad ones I didn't like. Here I go!
Episode 1:
Dokuro-chan / ATHF: This is actually an interesting clip. The part "Get the Axe!" is actually funny to me.
Cowboy Bebop / Pure Pwnage: I like this clip so funny when it comes to "Boom Head Shot" a lot. BTW, there's a spoiler of Cowboy Bebop, but it doesn't matter.
Bleach: MoN / Men in Black: A poor sound quality doesn't make this clip any better, but it's still great throughout.
Azumanga Daioh / Fish Heads: I watched this anime before, and this clip makes me laugh so hard; it has to be good.
Azumang Daioh / Strong Bad: I never heard of Strong Bad recently. However, this clip is perfectly amazing because of "Whoa! Perfect Score!".
Death Note / Family Guy: I actually laugh of that sound clip when it comes to the elevator theme of Dark Vader from Star Wars. Impressive!
Code Geass / TLotR: TTT and Hostess: A powerful dramatic clip is very interesting. Then, the last part of the clip is kind of funny.
Princess Tutu / Bang the Drum: I like that music as well as the clip itself. The last part is, of course, great and funny.
Azumanga Daioh / Colors of the Wind: With all of the Azumang Daioh clips I've seen so far, this one is my favorite because of the editing background and excellent humor. Great job!
Trigun / South Park: I kindly like this part so funny. It would've be better to choose Cowboy Bebop because the clip is mentioning "Cowboy", of course.
Evangelion / Family Guy: The part "Reagan Smash" is much funny as I expected. With that, this clip is well done.
