Okay, AMV Minis contributors! Here's your chance to explain/defend/critique your entries to AMV Minis! You may want to take the critiques from here (http://amvhell.com/showthread.php?t=1524) into consideration before posting anything. Discuss what the in-joke is, why you think it's funny (or entertaining in some other way). Also discuss what you would have done differently if you had the chance. It can be anything from a different choice of material, a better joke, better lip-sync, etc.
Remember, there's always room for improvement.

I think my "Regan Smash" clip could have been edited better (Believe it or not, that is 5th Re-do I did for that clip, the first one was....all messed up), but it fits so well.
The He-man one I thought would be funny as He-man was buff, a people person while Shinji is his foil. I do think parts of it could be re done like the part "Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword and said", If you notice, Shinji's mouth isn't moving for a bit (someone just pointed that out to me yesterday).

I think your "Regan Smash" vid was very well put together. I really got a kick out of how aloof everyone was in the scenes, plus the holes re-generating themselves after each punch. XD I suppose that can't be helped if he punched the wall only once in the same place in the original footage, but I think it adds to the hilarity of it all. XD
I'm glad you explained the He-man clip a little more. I think what really sold this one was the similarities between the two shows, not so much the difference between Shinji and He-man. On a different note, I'm afraid I'm not that familiar with either source to fully appreciate the "epic-ness" the clip was meant to convey, but I think it works very well as a stand-alone scene. In that sense, I think the "Regan Smash" clip actually works better.

In case you are wondering, the reason why He-man looks....like crap is a joke to myself. I grew up watching He-man and the Masters of the Universe on VHS tape (we didn't have Cable living out in the country and the antenna only gave us one station), and I wanted to give the video a VHS look. What I did was record a few episodes of Eva from DVD to VHS, then record from VHS to DVD, then used the recordings to make the video.

I did note that it looked rather funny, I thought the audio quality especially prevelent when "I HAVEEEEE THE POWERRRRRR!!!" was yelled was part of it as well.

The BBC Hitchhikers was Epic, did you know that, That show used sets originally used for 1979's Alien?

That wasn't terribly obvious to me. Again, I'd say it has to do with my lack of knowledge and appreciation of the two sources. As is, though, I still think it's a good clip.

Alrighty then... my turn!
The Fish Heads/Azumanga clip was by no means meant to be laugh-out-loud funny. I just thought it'd be cute to have Osaka and Chiyo-chan sing in chipmunk voices about one of their favorite foods (namely the fish-shaped taiyaki pastry). I would've brought the volume down a bit (It was noticeably louder than the other clips.). I also would've made the pause at the end shorter. Don't want to dwell on it too long. XD
Strong Bad/Azumanga clip - In the original scene, Tomo quizzes Osaka on difficult, obscure riddles, which, much to everyone's surprise, Osaka aces with hardly any effort. Since this proves how intelligent she really is, I thought it'd be ironic for her to BS her way through Tomo's next test (how to make fun of someone's name) and get a perfect score on top of that. Plus the little head tilt and the blank look on her face when she says "Cwapface?" nearly killed me as I was editing it. XD I dunno. I guess it's a matter of taste. If I had to fix it I'd make the lip-sync more precise throughout.
Pocahontas/Azumanga clip - The similarities between Pocahontas and Sakaki were too much to pass up: Let's see, both are graceful, athletic, noble nature-lovers with long, raven hair and cool dispositions. And luckily, I didn't have to go far to find scenes that corresponded to the lyrics. I'm very proud of this one, actually. If I had to change anything, I would've given a second thought to the text I put at the end. (Wingapo = "Hello" in Pocahontas' native tongue, Pocaki = Pocahontas + Sakaki, -san = common Japanese honorific) Just a silly little Easter egg for those more familiar with the sources.
Critique to your heart's content. I regret nothing!

Well I think its my turn.
Under Pressure
I know not everybody liked my clip and put next to the rest I can see why. I always found in earlier AMV Hells that if there were to many "voice clips" and no musical part that it didn't flow to well. But I know that people love the "Voice clips", Hell I do to. So when making the clips i've made more music based songs and hopefully music that everybody has heard even if they don't listen to the songs.
Plus I made a short AMV hell tribute a while ago. [Shameless Plug] AMV Hell Minus 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8gEfUOLD78) [/shameless plug] Soon after I made that, I started making another with a few friends, but it fell through. So now I have about 5 clips ready and waiting. So I put the one that was not laugh out load, but a soild clip. Everybody got it and it did its job.
As for production. editing was crisp and clean (and includes 3 clips as the last smash was a kinda reversal of the second) But the audio did feel a little too low when placed next to the other clips.

You do know there's an option on WMM to export the video file in VHS Quality, right?
----------------------
Anyway, i guess I'll critique my clip.
Look, I'm gonna be honest with you guys, i spent 15-30 minutes making this clip, and most of that time was getting mats. Sure, it could have been shorter, I agree, but I love the buildup to such a bad pun. As for the inspiration, all my ideas come from being bored while watching/discussing animu. (I make all this bull in WMM, by the way) If i could go back and redo it, I'd make it shorter.

I don't use WMM, I use Sony Vegas. And I didnt want to mess with settings too much.

My turn *stands in front of the firing squad that is the internet*:
Both my clips were salvaged from an AMV Hell parody video that I never finished.
Dr. Weird + Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
That clip just fell together in my head one day. I was watching the Dr. Weird openings on Youtube and saw the "chop my head off with such velocity..." and I just instantly thought of Sakura's legs flying all over the place. To be completely honest I was surprised I'd never seen someone do this pairing before.
If I had to change something I would probably try to improve the video quality. It seems a little low to me, particularly during the zoom-in in the beginning. Also my lip sych is also a little off in a few spots but I think it works pretty good.
Berserk + The Waterboy
I'm honestly not sure what the thought process was when I came up with this clip. I guess the parallels between the homicidal rage of both Guts and Adam Sandler just struck a cord with me.
Again the lip-sych is kinda off, more so then my previous clip. Also the fact that Guts changes clothes half way through the video kinda bugs me.

There was a bubble sound near the end of my clip... it annoyed me for the longest while, but I couldn't rip the original audio from "Blue Harvest" because its copy protected >_>... So I just left it as is.
