Subs usually. There are only a FEW exceptions like Golden Boy, Excel Saga, and (I know there is another but I cannot think of it).

I know we have this thread already but it truly just depends, usually subs but you can't discount it when an anime has a fantastic dub; FMA and cowboy bebop are well known for having better dubs

I watch dubs because I'm too lazy to read subtitles.

i first started watching anime in high school with Pok?mon and Yu-Gi-Oh! at the time, my only exposure to anime was through the TV, and so all of the anime i watched was dubbed. and since my maturation as an anime viewer involved dubs, by the time i actually considered myself an anime fan, i had already developed a strong preference for dubs. these days, whenever i guy an anime DVD, if i have a choice in the matter, i usually watch the dub.

and just like Rebbie, im lazy when it comes to reading. however, my ability to read subtitles is pretty decent, so if i absolutely much watch the subbed version of an anime, its not big deal. there are some cases, such as Mai-HiME, in which the dub is so horrible that i watch the sub just to shield my ears.

Usually I prefer subs, though there are exceptions to the rule. I thought the English dubs for Excel Saga and Death Note were fantastic, possibly even better than the original. Azumanga Daioh... mmmm.... not so much. Some of the English voices I liked (Sakaki and Yomi being two of them), but others, such as Chiyo's voice actor, sounded like they were trying too hard.

Personally, I would've chosen Stephanie Beard (aka Sugar Baby) as Chiyo's voice actor:

I did think Hellsing was better in English, but Crispin Freeman and they actually got voice actors with British accents, I mean Fargason's actor was channeling Churchill

I really don't have a preference. If I get something subbed, I'll watch it subbed. If I get something dubbed, I'll watch it dubbed. I'm extremely picky in the fact I can't switch to either/or once I start. Hell, when I was watching Scrapped Princess, the last episode had a different subber so I didn't watch it until I found one from the subber of the previous episodes.

That being said, I was quite amazed at the dub for Beck.

I'm usually ok with switching subbers if I have to and they're both good but I honestly I can't believe how atrocious some subbers are (I hate you gg)

I don't particularly cleave to either subs or dubs - on getting a new DVD, I'll listen to both for a time and then choose whichever sounds or reads better. I tend to find myself gravitating towards dubs and choosing them more and more often, though, as later animes have benefited from more confident and professional voice acting - and really, even early ones aren't always that bad. The only series that I've seen recently where the dub was absolutely intolerably poor was Elfen Lied.

Series that I've seen recently where the dub is tangibly superior to the sub would include:

-Gunslinger Girl
-Black Lagoon
-Hellsing Ultimate
-GiTS: SAC 2nd Gig

I'm usually ok with switching subbers if I have to

If I absolutely have to, like if there is no remnant of the continuing sub _anywhere_, then I'll probably watch the entire series over with the new subber. Yay OCD.

I know what you mean and I will absolutely stick to the subber I'm using unless I can't take anymore of their fail, I had to stop zan sayonara zetsubou sensei cause I can't stand gg

I used to strictly only watch dub until I started watching Fist of the North Star and learned it was only dubbed until Episode 36 (out of 109) so because I liked the show so much I decided to cave in and watch the remainder of the series in subs. I have to admit it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined it to be.

i see ur point. but some (and i mean SOME not many) anime have horrible voice actors in the Sub version. i prefer dub. but ill watch sub if i cant find dub. plus i like watching it with my friends, and they're to lazy to watch sub (and not skilled enough lol)

I watch Dubs out of respect for the hard work the voice actors do for the anime series they do work on.

However, if dubs are not available, or i've already watched every episode in a series dubed, then i'll switch to subs.

It depends on the anime and the voice actors. If the actors suck, I'll go for subs. One example is Love Hina. The dub is just TERRIBLE! So I'm all for the sub version. Another example is Gurren Lagann. The dub is pretty good, so I'm sticking with the dub. Yuri does a good Simon

If they take the time and energy to gather a good voice cast then it does make watching easier. Loved Excel Saga until they changed the voice for Excel

But most of the time i watch anime with subs.

Usually in dubs the charecters have really bad voices Examples: Gantz, Toppa turren gurren Lagann And the list goes on and on... Subs are also good but i am going to have to go with Dubs... It's not that i can't read it's just... Dubs are easier (In a way)

FLCL is the only one in which ive watched both and prefer the dub... most other dubbed anime in my opinion sucks cuz the translation either loses the original emotion of the line, or it over-exaggerates the emotion and doesnt sound natural.

but i couldnt think of watching animes such as Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh, or Pokemon subbed...

A vast majority of what I watch is subbed and I try to keep it that way. Only a few series work well dubbed; It might be because they where written with an English cast in mind, or cause the voice-actors did a good job keeping the proper emotion levels.

Subs or possibly RAW. Cause I'm not waiting three years for an episode. I still watch subbed from the bought dvds anyway out of forced habit. Started on RAW while in Japan, returned home and watched an episode of dubbed and wanted to vomit so i vowed never to return to dubbed. But people are intitled to their opinion.

Some brand spankin' new day, I'd like to be able to watch anime raw.

Well, technically, I can. Understanding it is another matter entirely. :D
