I've read the amv guide, and downloaded and installed the amv apps package, i've also tried both sony vegas and adobe premiere pro. But both seem to lag alot in the video prview and editing stage which makes it very hard to get the sound clip where i want it.

My PC specs:
- Windows XP Professional
- 4GB RAM
- 580GB Free HD Space
- 2.40 Gz Processor
- ATI Radeon HD 4850 Video Card

What is a good piece of software to use for creating AMV's that would run smoothly cus i dont want to have to try all of them to find one that works, andi dont want to use movie maker.

If things arent running smoothly with neither vegas nor adobe, chances are there is either too much running in the background of your computer, or there are issues with the source material you are trying to use. Both of those applications you have tried using are very good, adobe probably being the best, but vegas isnt really too bad (would hope its not since its retail is $600).

I myself use vegas and I dont get lag in the preview section unless my source quality sucks or I have WAY too much running in the background.

Thanks, could be the source then, ill get a better quality source. Also a question about vegas, when import alot of videos it doesnt import the sound, they play fine in VLC media player but just doesnt bring the sound in for some reason

I use adobe because I had a single core so it behaved; wanted to use sony vegas because of all the features it has over premiere but I enjoy the handle of adobe than vegas...-_-
