Hey guys and girl(s), I'm back with another request.

I'm looking for a new anime that deals with secret societies/organizations. Not necessarily conspiracy theory stuff, but Animes like Hellsing or gunslinger girl would be fine. Preferably with a cast of good, memorable characters (duh).

No mecha please. I can be any genre, really, although I would prefer a good action/drama one if you could think of any.

Secret societies, hmm...

just taking a glance at my DVD shelf, one title that jumps out at me is Darker Than Black. "Contractors" with supernatural powers are used as spies, hitmen, and enforcers for corprorations, countries and criminals across the world, but knowledge of their existence is suppressed in the public domain; any general civilian who's involved with one is mind-wiped if authority tracks him down.

It's quite new, too - the first series ran in 2007-8, and a second series is currently airing right now.

even though it wasn't that good tokko certainly fits the bill the was that episode of nadesico completely dealing with nergal... GITS seems like an obvious one that no one mentioned yet

now that I think about it you should ignore my nadesico since it's really only one episode(though they do work for the military if that counts for anything) and it's not really what I'd imagine you're looking for

I just finished Tenjou Tenge, although I don't think it's with secret organisations and stuf,
it is a really good action/drama

after episode 5 I got addicted to those series xD

to bad it's finished now :(

Tenjou Tenge, was/is one of my favorite Animes. It kinda has a secret organization in it but it isn't all super serial secret.

...okay Excel Saga is not really drama but it has the organization.

Well, I was guessing this one should have mentioned before, since you didn't set any limit on the span of the series xD, but here I go... The following has everything you asked for, Drama, actions, the characters are all awesome, and it has a REALLY EVIL Secret Organization...

And that would be... Detective Conan =D!!!!

I just had to say it because I'm a die-hard Conan fan, but then again, you're in for a good time, 'cause conan is an ongoing anime with 553 episodes (with lots of 1,2 and 2.5 hour specials) so far, 13 movies (14 next year), 9 OVAs, and then some ^^!

I leave it up to you, but if you DO decide to take it, you won't regret it ;) !

but the manga is 8 volumes long and does not get that good till vol 4, then its really good. as for the anime, i have no clue, i like manga better.

Deathnote, Trigun, FMA, Code Geass (although there is some mech work with this show), Soul Eater, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya, Girls Bravo, Rurouni Kenshin (This one is kinda long though). If it makes it easier, I could just give a website or four that you might find a bunch of anime on.

bleh Phantom was just a stupid anime, very frustrating.

Jormungand was pretty good though
