Ok so recently I've been REALLY bored. Played through all the Half Lifes (1 through Episode 2). Then I got to thinking and installed Halo 1 for a bit so I could complete that Story Line. There it hit me. The little "Aliens" in Halo that infect the soldiers in Halo are Head Crabs from Half Life...
Now I know most have made this connect before (I just never thought of it). However once those Alien thingies infect someone it is just like a Zombie with a Headhumper on it from the Half Lifes. Even the position of the Alien spore is the same. Just thought it to be cheeky, and thought I'd share it.

Well, Headcrabs, Flood Parasites, Ceti Eels, Facehuggers, Brain Slugs, and more besides - they're all from the same School of ARGHNOGETITOFFMEGETITOFFHUUURRRKKERSPLUT, one of the most respected and venerable colleges in the Space Academy. Alumni of that august institution are sure to get a-head in life :p
It's similar to the dread of vampirism, in a way - the knowledge that your very self will be warped by these creatures - it'll wear your clothes and speak with your voice, and, even worse, that thing will be you - and in most cases there's no way out. It's helplessness and impotence at its most gruesome.

yeah I'm sure most of us have made the connection a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago and even if you didn't Yahtzee mentioned it in one of his first videos.
Kapparomeo: I'd use Solanum (the virus responsible for zombies according to Max Brooks in his zombie survival guide and WWZ) rather than vampirism which has historically been given a romantic aspect; even if Twilight has been doing a fantastic job at assassinating it.
Personally I like the husks from Mass Effect (of which there are two varieties I'm using the Geth version here as the other is merely cause by spores) which are created from sticking dying and recently dead people on large spikes: It seems like a very inconvenient way to do especially considering the method the spikes use to create them (which I'm not going to get into) it's actually more comical than anything else.
Can't wait for Mass Effect 2 by the way, I hear they're going to fix a lot of the problems I had with the first one except but THEY'RE GOING TO ADD ****ING HEALTH REGEN. I am very very very very very very tired of health regen as a game mechanic: I like health bars and there was a way to obtain some regen with an armor upgrade. I'm not going to go into instances where I actually like it but suffice it to say it shouldn't be an industry staple
