I never really imagined one of my videos becoming so popular. If not YouTube famous though, maybe AMV Hell famous? Either way I'd die happy knowing I made SOME impact on the world. =p

I wouldn't exactly say FAMOUS. 40,000 views really isn't much considering how much traffic AMVHell get's for all it's videos. Now if it was 100,000+ views I would say your getting there. For example on my dA I only have 60,000+ views and I ain't famous at all (well, besides being mentioned on ED once or twice, but that's beside the point)

Lmao you wouldnt have 61xxx views if you didnt have over 9 thousand comments... So fix your goddamn number to something more fitting like search queries, Ohh wait you CANT!!! Hell if I was to base any sort of popularity off of DA I would go by the view numbers on the longest featured deviant or the number on the most viewed deviant not the users page view.

The stats view gives out better numbers to work with but looking at that kinda creeps me out the way they have it set up XD
Example: "Rbrat3 watches 11 people, while 24 people watch RBRat3."

Whats even better is yours "Kaijulord watches 237 people, while 171 people watch KaijuLord" how is it that you watch more ppl then being watched XD

Not entirely true, for example a few years back a bitch named Vampirella87 came on and did traced vectors of screenshots from popular anime and got millions of views within the month while many of my friends have under 100,000 and have been on dA for six or so years. So that popularity based on age thing is useless. For example if you draw Naruto characters, chances are you'll get more views instead if you did original art.

dA's popularity system is broken, bottom line.

Still, my point still stands that page views =/= fame.

hmm your thinking of a different age... im talking about the the longest continuous time that a deviation has remained in the users featured, not its total time on DA. theres a difference and no there is no point to be made its a faulty calculation method to determine a single user popularity its just about as bad as OSU!'s rank system.

To better explain that, I do believe miku has remained in my featured the longest its since then been moved (I think) but still remains longest. Now ill go off that page count instead of the naruto one that has some odd 1500 views since its still new and has been moved early on so its pretty much out of the game. But even then thats not a idea system since DA doesnt track it and I hardly even know what that longest running feature in my gallery was so its all assumptions.

Ohh and why the featured, Simple its on the users front page unless they opted it out from the default :)

The difference here is that youtube user popularity is based on media and "media view" quantities NOT the users page hits. If youtube popularity was interpreted the way it is on DA then 90% of the trolls would be rockstars. If I could change DA I would to have it not count userpage hits on redirects from comments which is where a good chunk of the count comes from where 1/3 to 1/4 are from actual clicks on search queries and user faves :P

id say popularity depends on comments
but then again alot of skilled and original things never are discovered

well thats a double edged sword on DA, you can have social popularity or media popularity. Comes down to what you wanna count XD

But social popularity isnt going to get you a daily deviation on the sites front page :P (Its gonna take some hard work or alittle bit of both)

I don't understand how youtube relevance works anymore. I personally hate the featured video things. So lame and I've seen crappy gifs put into old windows movie maker with a million views thanks to that.

Sad but true, just like that annoying Elvira wannabe' who claims to be teaching people Japanese but all she's really doing is luring people in with her giant boobs.

heh the only comment people seem to leave on her vids has to do with her obnoxious rack. I sometimes wonder if mangakas get their inspiration from her and pornstars

i know my art isnt epic but ive seen many ****yer works on da with way more views and comments, not that im actualy seeking for that stuff [ i was expecting to geting feedback on my work there since everyone in hell just enjoys my quickys],and the funnyest note the most popular was the sukone tei one which is surprizing since shes kinda a minor character in the whole utau/vocaloid business.

Apparently the members of Something Awful discovered her antics (www.somethingawful.com/d/webcam-ward/japanese-lessons-boobs.php)

Referring to your original question though, you are TECHNICALLY youtube famous, but I'm basing this on my personal Youtube AMV Editor Fame Scale in which anyone with who doesn't use one of The Big Three or Dragon Ball Z for an AMV and gets more than 25,000 views is automatically famous. Make what you will of that...

Such is the power of Retsupurae.

Seriously though, what about it made your brain shut down? The over-the-top commentary, the chick's dialogue, or some third thing I didn't notice?
