I summited a short amv to the amv hell 4 project and when I looked over the rules it said something about no b-frames. I thought I didn't have b-frames because I didn't even know what they are. Then when reading the summiting rules it mentioned b-frame agian and I thought that b-frames means black frames? I tried to look up the definition but I didn't understand the definition... So can someone tell me if a b-frame looks like those things on the top and bottom when u play a dvd in widescreen? Like this?http://ganjataz.com/tutorials/images/desktops/1028x768/Abstract_Rainbow_Island-widescreen.jpgThat picture isn't mine btw I just found it when looking for an example. Because my amv has those at some parts...

Cool, thanks, and I'm not worried about it much anymore because I got even better videos than that one now. :D Making AMV's is kind of addicting... but I do have antoher question about this:
Videos should be in AVI format, compressed using any one of the following: Huffyuv, Lagarith, DIVX or XVID codecs. Videos compressed with DIVX or XVID should be encoded at constant quantizer 2 or 1. Do NOT use special features like B-frames or GMC.
I have the video in avi format, but what does compressed mean? Does that just mean you can turn it into an avi usaing the following programs? Or does compressed mean something else? I looked in some other peoples folders (that's ok right?) and thier videos seem to be in the same format as mine, so I think mine are ok. If compressed means something else, can you let me know? Thanks. :D
P.S.: There is going to be more than one person choseing the videos to put in AMV Hell 4 right? Because one of my better videos kind of insults a anime charater that people may love...

Compression is when you put data (visual and audio in your case) in a conversion program that codes it in a way that it takes up less space, while at the same time keeping the quality as much as close to the original. Think of it like folding a shirt to fit it inside a suitcase.
That way, a clip which is, say 30 seconds long and 200Mb big will be turned into a 20Mb clip that is easier and quicker to store, transmit through the internet, edit when it's put into the AMV Hell project, and played back.
I use Virtual Dub Mod for compressing my submissions. Just take the .avi file you made in your video editor, while making sure it wasn't already compressed when your video editor made it. Open it in Virtual Dub Mod, select Save As, choose one of the suggested compression codecs, tweak the codec configuration if necessary, and proceed. If you get a video file that's at most 20-30 Mb and looks about the same as your original clip, you did it!

So compressed means to make a file size smaller? Cool and I think my program already did that, thanks for the help. :D
