Do any of you use that site (myanimelist.net) or one similar to it? Or do you see no point in cataloging the anime you've watched?

I personally use it for archival purposes, though I try to avoid interacting with most of the community, considering that most of the threads that I've viewed there quickly devolve into flame wars in which people use their lists as a badge of their authority.(Of course, that's the best part of the site)

to me, archiving the animes Ive watched is like a Vietnam veteran watching clips of his comrades get mowed down by machinegun fire. that and I dont have time to care

My initial reasons for cataloging:
1. I can show off my e-peen to random newbs who obviously don't care
2. I can save A WHOLE MINUTE worth of the time it'd take to remember what episode I'm on.

My actual reasons for going to that site:
1. This picture (http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?action=view&t=pic&id=27761&pid=222117)
2. The antics of lo1337a and havrd (which sort of ties in with my reasons for using Skype)
3. OCD

you'd be surprised how useful a random list of things you've watched can be =P its a bitch setting it up if you've watched alot though >.< i actually went through their entire list adding stuff and i still occasionally remember series i missed

its such a pain in the ass typing out all the names. whenever I finish a show I just burn it to dvd and stick it in a binder so I dont really need to keep track

I love just sifting through my massive list and reflecting on how great/bad they were.
I love the clubs, like the Logh one that haar linked a pic from.
I love letting my otaku friends know who my favorite voice-actors and characters are.

Can't access myanimelist.net for a few days now. At first I thought it was down or too busy but this long? No, it has got to be something else, therefore...
Any suggestions as to what could be causing this/how to fix it?

I'm not sure... I checked it and the site seems to be up. Maybe it's a regional thing.
