I think Sam might have had some points in the long run. I'm sure there were days when Jesus didn't want to be...well...Jesus. Part of me is pretty sure that in there here-after we'll be told "Yeah, I never said anything like that..." about half the stuff we read in the Bible after the dozens of retranslations and the heavy coats of socio-political spin we got from the Hebrews, Greeks, Romans, and Catholics.
