I hadn't listen to this song for years and thus found the video fairly nostalgic. Using 403 + with GL alone is an awesome concept. And I did find the actual AMV enjoyable but feel it would had work best if it had focused on either the first or second half of the show, feels a bit too crammed/rush. The ending was really nice.

The song is called Southern Cross. The band is 403 Forbiddena. For the longest time, I was convinced that they were some sort of European metal band, though I've recently found out that they are actually a J-Rock Group, supposedly.

EDIT: I'd recommend watching the TV series, but If you're in a rush, watch the two compilation movies instead.

To be honest, even I consider most of this video to be rushed, such as the first Giga Drill Break being sped up way too fast and the introduction of Nia coming out of nowhere, basically. I might remake this using the first or second half of the show... eventually.

If by the Death Note movies, you mean Rewrite (http://myanimelist.net/anime/2994/Death_Note_Rewrite), then yes, pretty much the exact same thing in terms of brevity.

To be fair, that one video everyone remembers this song from was rather rushed too. Though I suppose you could of split up the halves of the show using both songs.

I'm pretty sure none of their music has been released outside of Japan, so you'd have to go to Amazon.co.jp or something if you still want to buy it.

4chan City and its sequel certainly helped, but I remember them firstly from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjdi7a6L_78 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6yYDlP0QOM&feature=related Guess I'm showing my internet age.

To be honest, I didn't even know about the 4chan city thing until EvilestDeath told me about it. I knew that this song had some sort of internet fame due to it being on the "Lulz: A Corruption of LOL" Soundtrack (http://partyvan.info/wiki/Lulz:_A_Corruption_of_LOL_%28soundtrack%29) , but I didn't really know from what it was used in, even after a bit of searching.

That being said, I discovered this song by pure chance. It was being played in the background of some random Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEWy6CVIQEw) and I thought it sounded interesting.

Guess I'm not as internet savvy as I assumed I was...
