Hello everyone. My name is Erik Norelus {kireblue}, and I am pleased to inform you that Seishun-Con is now officially accepting submissions for its 2012 AMV contest. The submission deadline will be @ 11:59pm on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012. The submission form can be found here: http://kireblue.wufoo.com/forms/amv-submission-form/

AMV Contest Rules and Guidelines

General:
1) All submissions must consist of at least 50% Japanese animation, anime-style video game cutscenes or anime-inspired stills to be accepted into the competition.

2) Videos must not contain water marks or subtitles that were not inserted by the editor.

3) Videos must be of reasonable video and audio quality.

4) Videos must be under 15 minutes in length.

5) Entrants are are only allowed to submit one video to a category. Also, entrants are only allowed to submit to (2) of the (5) categories. And a single video can not be submitted to more than one category.

6) Submitted videos must not contain excessive violence, language or content that would place it above a PG13 rating.

7) All submissions must be in Seishun-con's possession by 11:59 pm (EST) on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012. Attendance to Seishun-con is not required to enter the competition and will not improve your odds of winning. Awards will be given to the top video in each category, and will then be mailed out to the winners that were not present at the convention. A photo ID will be required to claim an award during the convention.

Categories:
The AMV contest is split into five categories. Entrants are allowed to select the best fit category for each of their submissions, but if our judges strongly disagree with the genre of a submitted video, it may be moved to a better fitting category. The categories are as follows:

Action
Comedy
Fun / Upbeat
Drama / Serious
Romance / Sentimental

Submissions:
The submission form can be found here: http://kireblue.wufoo.com/forms/amv-submission-form/

The form requires you to provide a download link of your video via a file uploading service like YouSendIt or SendSpace. If your AMV is available for download on http://www.animemusicvideos.org, you also have the option of instead providing a link to it's video information page. Note: Youtube or ”streaming only” links will not be accepted.

A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you within 3-4 days.

File Formats:
Seishun-Con is able to accept AMVs in a wide variety of file types and even HD (720p or greater) videos. But even so, please do not upscale your videos. If your footage wasn't taken from a blu-ray disc or was already HD, upscaling it to 720 or 1080p can negatively affect your video. The preferred file types are MP4, AVI and MPEG-2, but we also accept WMV, MKV and many more. We strongly discourage submitting QuickTime, DivX, Real Media or Flash Video though.

Judging:
After the submission deadline passes, our panel of judges will rate each video, and the top five AMVs from each main category will be selected as a finalist and screened during the convention. Finalist will then be notified via e-mail about a week after the submission deadline passes. During the AMV screening, Seishun-con attendees will have the opportunity to vote on which video they feel should win each individual category. Once the votes have been tailed, the winners will be announced during the con via twitter https://twitter.com/#!/kireblue. In addition to the awards voted on my the audience, there will be an additional Judges award that will be chosen solely by Seishun-con staff. Winning the Judges Choice award will not disqualify a video from also winning an award from one of the five main categories. Also, accepted videos that do not make the finals of the contest are still eligible to win the Judges Choice award.

Disclaimer:
At any time, Seishun-Con reserves the right to not show or ultimately disqualify any submitted AMV for any reason.

It's funny because I started on a few AMVs but then realized that they were either too boring, too graphic, or too niche for anyone to understand what was going on.
Might just submit some of my older work, if push comes to shove.

I usually only submit to AMV contests to conventions that I actually go too so I can see and hear the feedback of the video in person.

Ladies and gentlemen, Seishun-Con's 2012 AMV Contest is officially over. I just want to thank everyone that participated and or showed your support for the contest. Also, I'm going to take this opportunity to make the official "formal" announcement of the winners. We (Seishun-Con) received a total of 92 videos this year, so it was really hard for us to select just 5 finalist for each category. So even if your video didn't win, I want to tell you all that you are truly awesome AMV editors, and that Seishun-con is eternally grateful that you participated. So without further adieu, the winners of Seishun-Con's 2nd Annual AMV contest are

Additional Notes:
*The Drama/ Serious category initially resulted in a tie between "Save the World" (milkmandan) and "Tollkirsche" (Warlike Swans). We had to re-show those 2 videos and have the audience vote a second time in order to get a winner. "Save the world" ended up winning by a single vote.

*If you don't understand why the Judges choice award went to "PonPon" (nicki_013), then you need to watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g
