News from Firstshowing is Cameron just let the world in on what his next passion project will be. Adapted from the popular comic series from Yukito Kishiro's "Battle Angel", Cameron will attempt to bring the magna and anime character to the big-screen. Based on his resume, he seems like the perfect guy to do a proper rendition of the beloved character. Cameron will be tied up for quite some time with his "Avatar" sequels, so he won't be able to begin production on "Battle Angel" until 2017.

DreamWorks seems to be ready to move forward with the idea of doing a live action version of the Japanese cyberpunk cartoon after years of trying to make it happen. According to Deadline, DreamWorks has made a deal with Rupert Sanders, director of Snow White and the Huntsman, to help bring the sci-fi police thriller to life from a script by William Wheeler.

Produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul and with the backing of Steven Spielberg, the rights to Shirow's original 1989 complex futuristic thriller about the members of a covert ops unit that takes on technology-related crime were picked up several years ago with plans to use the latest 3D technology to film it. In Japan, the huge success of the comics led to a number of anime film adaptations, a TV series and a series of video games with DreamWorks releasing the second anime film in North America.

It's not yet determined whether Sanders might tackle Ghost in the Shell next since he has a number of other projects lined up.

There was an animated PV which aired during some sort of Jojo ad, which means its possible that we may get the same company who animated the newest Jojo series to do this one, and since the Manga is still ongoing with no real "bookends" outside of the failure of BUGS II I don't see a real good cutoff point as the Annex I arc maybe after Germany's fight and the regrouping of The Nippo-American Squads, I don't really know.

On Further inspection, it seems there is going to be an OVA AND an Anime Series.

I'm guessing the Anime will cover Annex I (main story) and the OVA's will cover the BUGS I and BUGS II prequels.

There's a world of difference between a movie and a new series. One is an hour and thirty minute-long theatrical run with a large budget and, at the very least, promising production values or animation, while the other is an entire 24-ish long thirty minute broadcast with your average television budget which doesn't promise anything other than the exact same product you watched two years ago only with different storyboarding.
The process works well for movies and OVAs because it isn't a hefty time investment on your part and you're pretty much guaranteed a better product in one way or another. They're almost like fanservice. But for a new televised production? Well, you might get better pacing. You might get better scene composition. You kinda-sorta-maybe-if you're lucky might get some improved animation
Furthermore, what's there to do in a Golden adaptation? It's not like its a FMA/ Brotherhood situation where one deviated hard and became a train wreck for way more than half of its run while the other was rather true to its roots. The first one was a decent enough adaptation and Golden's "new" content is not worth adapting. The last thing we need is more ****ing Marie.

The new Tenchi Muyo, which even has the creator on staff, is just a series of shorts meant to advertise Japan. Hell, this isn't even a case of the "Moe-Boogyman" ****ting on your glorious nostalgia. Tenchi Muyo as a whole has simply always been ****ing shallow garbage.
And Terraformars is ****ing garbage, too. I don't see how you prokaryotic peasants can handle ingesting so much of this ****.

Tenchi Muyo maybe a harem anime however it had good jokes and wasn't just almost porn. It has more depth than modern fanservice moe harems E.G To love Ru. Were they push the fanservice button so much they should just removed it and make it a Hentai. At Least then if they did the stories they made would be better and more rounded.

Woah woah woah woah...... GXP and War on Geminar over Tenchi Universe? and well anything else. Those two should just stay at the back and never have Tenchi Muyo in the title. GXP has a little more right to it but still....

Tenchi Muyo first 13 eps are the best and the follow up to finish the story OAV's (10 years later) is serviceable. With Tenchi Universe being a rehash of Tenchi it is still great, The films are all really irrelevant from one another and even the series still good watches. With Tenchi in Tokyo being one of the weakest yet if you have watched all this and still want more Tenchi then you have 26 more episodes despite it being ANOTHER universe/retelling.

Just....GXP and War on Geminar nope nope, ones a cash grab and terrible series and others just a cash grab by sticking the Tenchi name on it.

I was more referring to shows like Super Sonico or Miss Monochrome or the upcoming Kantai Collection anime. Naruto and Bleach are cash-ins as well, sure, but they started out as a new thing trying to break ground. (from my understanding, at least) The Super Sonico anime was nothing more than cashing in on Super Sonico's popularity right from the start.

Why care for such a blatantly kid-oriented series in the first place? While it may be bland as hell, it's mostly harmless to its target audience, and the thing offers little to no value to anyone that's outside that age group. If anything, I'm surprised how such a roughly done series got popular with the kiddies in the first place...

Unlike most people I rather liked GT and the idea behind it, with them making too many wishes and then having to defeat evil beings that represented their wishes. What I didn't like is the weird "he's a boy again" and they do that weird epilogue in the future.

So the Dies Irae adaptation crowdfunding project broke its 30 million yen goal in less than a day, so I guess we can expect that in the future. God knows what format it will be in.
Either way, can't wait to see the mass-suicide of mediocre translators after many failed attempts to translate the bull**** that is Dies Irae.

Aside from the the usual disparaging difference what I want and what the Anime industry delivers nowadays and I just have to deal with that......but ****.....****ing......come on....there is a ****ing Gatchaman Crowds second ****ing season.....Gatchaman Crowds Insight......

While my little freak out may be seen and over dramatic, it is not that people like it....its because this is now what Gatchaman is.....there is not going to be any of the classic gatchaman....crowds embodies everything I do not like with current anime....and it has to share its name with a classic which I find all that I want............

Fun fact..... I broke into AMV Hell forums as a poster and then editor all by bitching about Gatchaman Crowds in chatbox... I think I may be done... Anime for a point picked up for me for a bit...but nah...its dropped alot and yeah...**** getting my hopes up.... nah....
