So adbrite, the advertiser that I have been using here for years, suddenly went belly up, so I need to find something else.
Anyone know of any that work well for anime sites?
Google adsense is not an option.

j list?
Was using them before, but it didn't really pay out much. I only got commissions on actual sales, and the people who visit this site mostly aren't big spenders :p

How long has it been since you've sent an application to Google AdSense? Might actually have it accepted now that the site has been cleaned up a bit. Back in the day I'm sure they visited here, saw Anime Lovelys NSFW and Bondage NSFW threads on the front page and thought "NOPE!". Might as well give it another shot.
Anyway, as for alternatives...
Although it is revenue based, Amazons affiliate program seems to be the best of it's kind. Its a trusted website and if I understand correctly, you can even choose any products you want to advertise from there.

As far as ad networks similar to adbrite... I'm not to sure. Only one that comes to mind may be Bidvertiser.

Maybe you could strike a deal with Ami Ami.
Way better than J-list also.

Yesterday.
They must have the site blacklisted or something :p

Also I am apparently banned from Amazon affiliates program, because they closed my seller account several years back after someone had a dispute over an item I sold.
Tried looking into netflix. They've blocked me too apparently since they go through google.
I'll take a look at that bidvertiser thing.

You sure do get around(in a bad way I suppose haha).

Well Google AdSense should work with the site changes, and you are right they probably blocked the site from long ago. I'm not sure if you looked into getting it turned around but you can file a appeal. Google AdSense Policy Violation Appeal (https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/request.py?&contact_type=policy_disabled_appeal)

Well its not an issue of an account getting disabled, they never accepted my application for an account to begin with. They also never give me any reason why I can't be accepted (and they say in their rejection letter that they don't have to have any reason)

testing out one called CPALead.
I'll see how this works out over the next couple of days.
Oh yea, I also tried applying to gamefly's affiliate program, application was rejected of course :p

This thread is making me think people don't like us.
Considering how half of this site is merely a porn dump....

The new ads might scare people from the site who don't run some form of ad block. This pops up and makes you click on it a couple of times before you can use the site. Figured I check to see what shows up on a computer thats never been on the site.

Yea, that should only come up for users who aren't logged in though, and it shouldn't appear more than once in 48 hours.
If I get a lot of complaints about it, I'll probably change that.
Though I figure the non-registered users won't be doing a lot of complaining.

Its shows up everytime to non logged in users and some browsers just go grey with no ad
Zarxrax
02-07-2013, 05:48 AM
Well it shouldn't be showing up every time. Cookies aren't disabled by any chance are they?
I'm also curious what browsers fail to display it?

Didn't realize that the site had ads! (Ad-block, and points to what Haar said)

Not half, just one of the most active parts happens to be a porn dump.

Well I checked EI, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, didn't try Opera. Firefox, Safari and Chrome went grey, its random or all the time on some and this happens also on first time non logged in loads. But I don't know how many will like the double ad timer and clicking the ads to access the site. And cookies are enabled on all. The way the start up ad is it might get more users to sign up to get rid off it. I noticed that some of the browsers do loaded it up all the time and others don't on first load with the timed/click ads. It seems a bit glitchy.

I'm using IE 9 and the top ad displays fine. I'm not using ad-block and I've yet to experience the grey out or pop up ads.

Ok, since it seems to be glitching so much, I will change it.

how about.....porn ads?
how about.....porn ads?
That would eliminate the whole "safe for work" effort we're shooting for here.
NTTAWWT.
Did I ever say there was? Though if anything, people (editors, at least) need to spend more time working on AMVs (pornographic or otherwise), in my opinion.

Ok, Well I found some text based ads called Chitika that I am using now, and I have also went back to J-list.
People who are not logged in will probably see tons of ads all over the place for the next few weeks while I find out which ad locations on the site work best.

It doesn't look half bad above the chatbox, just under the header. Would probably look best if placed in the header as usual though. Although, it did look odd with that smaller banner you were using. Maybe a larger version might fill the header better, if you haven't already tried that.

That just doesnt work well because it ends up overlapping the text in the header (in the top right), and you cant read it.

Excluding the greyed-out ads, have you tried any that open up a new window or tab instead of appearing on the page? I've been looking into these for my future site, and there's a loophole that says because they are opened in a new window or tab it's the same as the user clicking on them. Not sure if it still generates revenue though. And as for the banner, stretch it to 100x65 pixels and it should fit the top.

Well, the chitika stuff is out. That was incredibly underwhelming.
After 1 week of running it, the ads had over 2,000 views per day, but only 1 click per day, earning me something like $0.15 for a week.
By comparison, the J-list ads got nearly 300 clicks over the same week (but j-list doesn't pay me for clicks).
For now, I guess I will just stay with J-list only... even though I don't get much at all from it.
I'm really not sure what else I could try at this point.

I know you had said your Amazon account is banned, but what's stopping you from just making another? I still think Amazons affiliate program is likely to be one of the best.

I've checked into it before and I have heard that they try to detect people getting around their blocks like that. It might be risky and I wouldn't want to end up earning money and then have them not pay me.

Can you have someone else use they're account on Amazon for advertising on this site?
