It was great, but TV Logos everywhere! ^I rather liked the two Tang clips being close together made the joke hit harder.

The rough clips used around the 1hr:20min marks kinda killed the party. I liked the Sunred Old Spice clips except that final complilation clip used at the end, which was used here. First Eva starbucks clip was great, second with shinji screaming at the sign wasn't great.

Overall It was great for the first hour, started to run into more and more not-so-great rough-cut-survivors-who-shouldn't-have near the end.

Saki Badger was hard to hear what she was saying, didn't mind it, but nether good or bad opinion of it.

Naruto Manergy had me laughing and it just kept going which was great.

Okay, that was better than the rough cut. I doubt anyone here has the balls to protest otherwise. That said, as it matches up to previous entries in the series, i would place this as being not as good as amv hell 4 (which i consider the best), but above amv hell 5. (which i consider the worst) Since i'm bored, random notes since i'm fresh off watching it.

- At the risk of seeming like a whore i have to ask why my "Ranma 1/2 - Designing woman" clip failed to make this version of 6? It shocked the hell out of me that didn't get in yet my "Sailor Moon - Sharp Dressed man"" one did and that was painfully mediocre on my part looking back on it. I was also glad my "nadia" clip got axed but yeah.I slightly recall mention of this installment having too much ranma so did that have something to do with it?

- Whoever did that batman beyond intro parody clip is ****ing god! There, i said it it!

- Hercules clip still owns

- Real steel trailer parody was impressive.

- Those "Ah! My Goddess" clips had me rolling. Hats off to dominus. (Forgive me if i botched your name.) I found that a solid running gag.

- Okay, can we please try not to ever let T.V. station watermarks show again? ...I'm serious...Come on...

- One too many jokes went on two long and i'd wager 2 or 3 featured jokes which were "Dead on arrival" for lack of better wording. (I'm tired alright!?)

- Strange clip arrangement was going on here. In particular i found the placement of the "It all depends on the mood i'm in" near the end like that a bit out of place seeing as what came before the credit roll.

- The very first clip that caught me as very impressive in this was the "If you wanna be my lover" gag. Well done synching. Quite stunning to see it done alternatively between multiple characters like that.

- I love that invisible man skit and not for the reason you niggas are thinking.

- ...Anybody else groan when they see a "Eva" clip now?

- I went ape**** at that chobits clip. Come on now...car alarm on the sex android?

- The "I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves" is how you do comedic delivery. Take notes people.

- The i just had sex clip also has great delivery.

- So, did anyone actually laugh at panty sitting on a toilet for 20 seconds to farting/****ting sounds? Show of hands please! *Loads shotgun*

So...my opinions.

A lot of the truly funny clips that were in the Original Hell cut that made through here lost some of their charm to a repeat watcher, but to someone going in fresh, they would definitely elevate the quality. Personally, none of the newer ones really made me laugh my ass off getting smiles, single declared "Hah!"'s or a chuckle at best. For me, it really didn't start to shine through till the last thirty or so minutes while most of the middle felt like padding. So while INFINITELY better than the last hell, I'm still relatively "meh" on it. But since I saw a lot of truly funny ones from last time before, I can't hold full judgement.
The "sake-badger" was old third time in my personal opinion, five times plus is dead-horse beating, especially when it could have been used to fill more fresh content in, and some of the clips went far too long (hypocritical of me to say as my favorite clip still is Hercules...shaddup) and the jokes used in said clips were unfunny for the most part.

If I can be negative now- and it really does sadden me to say so- but the product as a whole here was boring. Not bad, boring.
Not much of an improvement over the rough cut, frankly. This is the worst Hell yet.

No point being a dick and naming my least favourite entries, I can only blame my own brand of / lack of a sense of humour for that.

I’m still a fan of the Hell series and know it is still capable of good things; I just hope the next big, future project adopts more of a championship edition (http://www.amvhell.com/index.php?pageid=amvhellce) approach.
I’d rather have a solid 30-minute compilation of winners like CE next time; than a long, long 1.5 hours of "we don't have anything else better" like 6 and 6.66 ultimately felt. No charities, only the best.

In regards to the Tv Logos, why not cheat and slap a "AMVH6" logo, on the top right corner to cover them up? Obviously a bit late now but, no one seems to mind "Outlaw Productions" in those clips.

On tv station logos, I have never had a rule against having them, as long as its small and unobtrusive.
In most cases its very tiny and partially transparent, and I doubt most people even notice them. Slapping something else on top of it would definitely make it a lot more apparent, and I'm not sure what problem that actually solves.

This...is worse than the rough cut. I'm going to go out and say it. Seriously, I feel that the original AMV Hell 6 was better.

In the rough cut thread, I was SLAMMED for trying to justify the clips used. I received many negative replies saying that almost all of the clips used in the rough cut needed to go.

Right now, I am 37 minutes and 40 seconds through the video. So far, 50 of the clips that I have seen were in the rough cut. Many of those were clips that people demanded be taken out. Many of the clips that were genuinely funny but not as polished are gone. The clips that were used as a replacement may be better visually speaking, but they either have no punchline or are just bad puns. Most of them are only in there because "Ooh, half naked girls herp derp." Seriously, what the **** is this?

I'll try to finish watching this as best I can, but I will say this: AMV Hell 6 (the rough cut) should be put up on Youtube in conjunction with AMV Hell 6.66. Odds are I'll get slammed for this, but whatever.

Not sure if anyone really liked it or not but it was an idea I had forever and felt compelled to put it together. With all that being said I'm not sure if I like it more or less than AMV Hell 5 which was my least favorite but I guess its at least on par with it.

Just finished watching AMV Hell 6.66 with my wife and overal we liked it. The first 20 minutes were the strongest and then mediocrity started to sink in but for the most part it was a really enjoyable ride. It had far less self-referential humor, Abridged!Series Audio and repeat selections than AMV Hell 6 had and that alone makes it stand out on its own and be a decent video.

We're both big Ah! My Goddess and Ranma fans so loved the massive injection of both shows, particularly the Sake Badger skit. That is comedy gold right there.

If there is one complaint I have it is that it doesn't capture the time frame of anime. I think that's the fault of submissions but each AMV Hell movie to date has a giant slant of its age. This one seemed a lot more back in the past, which actually made the jokes easier for me to get because I'd seen them all.

Now I would never say "remove the classics" because the classics are gold but... this lacked a "slice of 2012/2013" flavor. 1 Madoka clip for example kind of baffled me given how absurdly popular it is. I suppose Squid Girl makes up for it in spades but, honest to God I use AMV Hell movies as my gateway to anime. I started watching Death Note, Azumanga, Higurashi and BECAUSE of these movies.

Now I guess I should watch Squid Girl and High School of the Dead. AMV Hell 6 told me to.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. A few I didnt get at all, likely due to now really knowing the song or show. Quite a few of these could have done with a quality boost rather than just being upscaled though.

On a completely different note from everyone else, I think the limitations of the ReplayGain algorithm are becoming apparent, particularly with the audio in the two clips before and after 1:03:23 ("Austin Powers diaper" & "Shopping penguin"). I realize that I was the original person that brought up ReplayGain and/or Wavegain in the first place, but between then and now it's been kind of superseded by the EBU R128 specification. Using Foobar2000's R128-based ReplayGain scanner, I tested with the audio from the "Austin Powers diaper" & "Shopping penguin" video clips and found R128 to be considerably more consistent in perceivable volume levels than the current use of ReplayGain/Wavegain.

Unfortunately I don't know (currently) an easy way to use R128 in the AMV workflow, but considering R128 is an actual broadcast standard and therefore much more prevalent in video (unlike ReplayGain) I would imagine there are many more video-based resources for it than ReplayGain (which was focused on music).

I just realized something and I'm not sure if this affects my enjoyment of the more recent Hell or Minis series in anyway but none of the clips really make me want to watch the anime they use since I've already seen most of them by now. I feel like there's always one or two clips that I love that never get talked about. Am I the only one who loved the Nichijou/Panjabi MC one? Just really simple, sweet, and high energy. Reminds me of the Sleepyhead clips from AMV 5, which made me smile.

There were a lot of good ones from the original cut that didn't make it in (Like TTGL/Don't Try Suicide, One Piece/Zombie, and Akira/Chronicle, just a couple off of the top of my head), while a lot of bad ones from the original cut made it in (One Piece/4Kids Opening didn't deliver that much of a punchline, and K-On/Doomsday.......why? there's no actual joke). And then there are ones that are new, but really not that funny (Panty and Stocking's toilet joke. It was 30 seconds, and delivered absolutely NOTHING). And is it me, or are there a lot more sex/gay jokes in this than the other AMV Hell's?

Now to be fair, there are a lot of new ones that were really great. The Naruto Manergy had me in stitches, which was impressive considering that Binaryjutsu only used one of the movies. Another similar one was the Dewgong clip, I wasn't expecting it. I liked the Skeleton Man too, very well put together (whatever anime was used reminded me of Ghost Rider).

I also noticed that some from the original 6's were added to this one, but may have been edited. For example, Eva/Starbucks seemed different, didn't feel like the original. The Hercules was slightly edited too, but not by much (either way, definitely one of my favorites overall). This can definitely work in favor of the clip. It certainly improved the quality of some, like with Ryuk/Nya Cat and Dr. Stein/Bi-Winning (both which were edited to pertection, btw).

And honestly, why do so many people hate AMV Hell 5? I know it wasn't on par with AMV 3 or 4, but it was certainly borderline, at least. But when I looked at opinions on the forums when it first came out, or even to this day, they were surprisingly negative.

And now people are saying that AMV Hell 5 is worse than both the finished AMV Hell 6 AND the rough cut? Really? AMV Hell 5 had MUCH better editing and comedic timing than either version of AMV Hell 6.

Overall, AMV Hell 6.66 certainly gets a passing grade, but the splitting between the two versions hurts both of them, and this one might be overjudged from the repitition from the original cut.

I can agree is most of what you stated, would have been great if One Piece Zombie and Akira Chronicle got in. The only ones that I from the rough cut that I was sad not to see where the "Psycho" parody and the Mushishi "Double Rainbow" song. The former was well-edited, I thought, while the latter very poignantly reminded me of that episode in the show (which I rather enjoyed). Oh well. Most of the ones that I actually really liked still made it in.

I have to commend Zarx on one thing: of all the recent Hells, this did the best job of keeping the concentration of "overused" anime at a minimum. There weren't too many DBZ clips, and there weren't too many Naruto clips. Evangelion and Azumanga Daioh weren't absolutely everywhere. It was a good mix of new and old series, too. Not to mention that Zarx did a good job of establishing flow (which was one issue I had with AMV Hell 5), not repeating the same song too many times (ditto), and keeping fan-specific jokes at a minimum (I was happy to see that most of the Hetalia jokes had been cut, since I understood absolutely none of them and am not that enamored with the rabid Hetalia fandom). A few exceptions aside, the poor clips with poor video quality had also virtually disappeared.

I didn't find this as funny as 3 or 4, but it was more cohesive than anything put out since 4, which I appreciated. I feel that AMV Hell/Minis as a whole have gravitated more towards pop culture and internet culture, especially memes, than it once had, with fewer clips relying on the song itself to deliver the impact (which was much more the case in AMV Hell 3, I felt). That said, I laughed a good amount.

The one clip that got in that I had REALLY not wanted to see was Code Geass/Pizza, but that's probably more because Code Geass' product placement and "world's biggest pizza" episodes got on my nerves ( a lot) and less to do with the clip itself.

It was also much better without the random montage of boobs. (there, I said it!)

Died In Your Arms - Don't Know the anime

That anime is "Hotarubi No Mori e", a movie based on a manga by the same person who wrote "Natsume's Book of Friends". I didn't think that clip was especially good, but the movie is lovely: it's beautiful and very bittersweet, a bit like what "My Neighbor Totoro" would be like if Miyazaki had gone for a less happy ending. It's also under-appreciated, barely-known, and (unfortunately) likely to remain unlicensed. I wrote a review of it here if you want to read it:

I just finished watching it and 60% was better than the origional but alot of the bad clips from the origional made it back into this version.
it was good time waster but due a bad a subpar clips not even worthy of the minis it seemed to drag.

My opinion: it's good but still a lot of sounds clip :(. AMV = Anime Musical Video :( . The AMV Hell 4 is the greatest because it's the most musical. And I don't understand why so much longs clips. The Charlie Sheen one is really great but with 1mn it's a real AMV, not a skit.

But a lot of great videos and it was fun to watch. And the rythm is good. Good work overall. It's better that the rough cut, that's a fact.

Now it's even 470 seeders and only 80 leechers:S, so it's strange that it doesn't start. Have you tried to save the torrent file in a folder and open it manually? You can also try to temporarily uninstalled your internet security software and then add the torrent to see if it works. I already assume you have allowed Bittorrent in the firewall. If all that fail you could try to download Utorrent and see if that works. According to a guy at Bittorrents forum it worked when he added the torrent in UTorrent but not when he added it in BitTorrent

Nah I am not doing that again. Over all Id have to say good.

I the entire thing was entertaining, I cant really give any details between seeing the rough cut and no other other AMV Hell will be like AMV hell 3. I am so out of touch on it I could say what other AMV Hell is it like, its AMV Hell 6 and very good across the board. A number of clips I didnt like or didnt get, some coming over from rough cut. However it was a great step up overall.

I like that while Fus Ro doh wasnt kept out, one decent one stayed and Crazy train was kept two decent clips.

The thing I was utterly surprised about was the constant quality of the video clips. I am mostly surprised about clips that were good in Rough cut but terrible quality or flaws were cleaned up so nicely and put into the final cut. JUST FREAKING SHOWS YOU! ITS POSSIBLE!!! EVEN THE RANMA CLIPS WERE CLEANED UP WITH THE RIGHT SOURCES!!! I thought the Jem/Ranma clip was doomed because of quality not it came out excellent.

Thumbs up on it and man did over 80% rough cut get ripped out for faaaaaaar better clips.

Its a good addition to the AMV Hell serise.

Part of the reason 3 is so good, is because a lot of the editors were very established. There weren't a lot of cases of poor video or audio quality because these editors knew what they were doing. Also, prior to Hell 3, everything was done by 2 people. No one was as intent on getting into the project as they are now. It was just a bunch of people making clips for a video. They weren't doing it because they HAD to be in an AMV Hell because they love AMV Hell so much.

In terms of humor, I think of it this way:
Early AMV Hells were made by people who enjoyed Simpsons season 1-9. Later and current AMV Hells were made by people who enjoy Youtube celebrities.

I certainly liked it better than the rough cut, but I felt 'sake badger' was a significantly weaker repeat gag than the previous features (shot through the heart, halo, imogen heap). This is probably due to the fact that you have to have some viewing experience of "Ah my goddess" to appreciate the references, while previous running gags were straight up audio-visual jokes that anime novices could easily get.

Strangely, the WTF-BOOM clip from Ah my goddess last time was significantly funnier than the code geass clip. Again, context sensitive. If you never watched code geass (you bastard!), you wouldn't get that she's the chick who figures out the super amazing ultra bomb. Without context, it's a cheap 'divided by zero' laugh and totally lacks the ne'er do well in the cape laughing hysterically.

Still, a good showing. Hopefully Minis will continue. :)

I enjoyed 6.66 more than 6 but less than 5, it was definitely lacking in parts. I have to say that the Mini's are probably my favorite but 4 will always have a special place in my heart.
I agree with those who said it would be nice to see an AMV Hell that had more newer anime/music in it to bring back that feeling of "OH what's that, I have to watch it now!"

Glad so many of mine were ones people seemed to enjoy. Also glad they even got accepted. The TK one had its context cut off at the beginning for time reasons I'm sure, but it still works generally. Although if nobody knew the rave wasn't there to begin with, it may not land at all initially :P

Some after and before these as well, but was watching with friends and kinda forgot. Some others were almost as funny as these to me, but didn't quite make me lose it as much as them which is why this is the list vs those being on it.

It's wonderful seeing these. Quite honestly the reason people like these less than the last ones is because no matter what you try to do, the novelty gets diminished over time since you're used to it. Plus as you get older things just change, you have to recognize that and just let it be basically. Great works, folks.

I am on the camp that felt it started strong but quickly wane as it progressed with several "meh" clips. Except for the sake badger, found it boring and annoying from the start. Then you have the total garbage that are the space odyssey and twilight zone clips. But overall I found it entertaining enough, a step below 4 but nowhere near the dread that is 5. Would had been a lot better if it was 26 minutes shorter. And too bad the end of the world theme didn't work out. Never watched the rough cut so can't comment on that.




I have to commend Zarx on one thing: of all the recent Hells, this did the best job of keeping the concentration of "overused" anime at a minimum. There weren't too many DBZ clips, and there weren't too many Naruto clips. Evangelion and Azumanga Daioh weren't absolutely everywhere. It was a good mix of new and old series, too. Not to mention that Zarx did a good job of establishing flow (which was one issue I had with AMV Hell 5), not repeating the same song too many times (ditto), A few exceptions aside, the poor clips with poor video quality had also virtually disappeared.
t was also much better without the random montage of boobs. (there, I said it!)

Dude those were not running gags they were just the meme at the time and was repeated way too much. So much so that people still make terrible clips with those. Those were the days, when the original video caused so many kids in the playgrounds would slap each other and going "youve been Tangoed!" untill kids ears would bleed...then was changed to a very homosexual kiss on the lips...and then changed to hand over mouth kiss.


Oh yes there was only one glaring quality fault I saw out of the entire video, and I think it was because of this that I noticed it. In the middle of the Canadian idiot clip (going back to that) I saw the aspect ration between the clips change. From 16:9 to 4.3.

That was something I was concerned with. I wanted to capture the right expressions on their faces along with trying to show they had no pants but I was finding it hard to get the kind of scenes I wanted mainly for the Solomun Grundy part. I think I did okay with it at the beginning though since there was a good shot of Yoshika with no pants. Its nice to hear that some enjoyment was had out of it though.

Without a doubt. Maybe I chose poor examples, but the clips you mentioned are also ones I was lumping into that lot. And I liked the Old Spice ones (although I think I recall there being more possibly from 6 rough?). Pretty much all of those running gags, with the exception of the Hellen video glitch (damn that's a bad sound), were great and stood up to repeat viewings. Sake badger though.. I got it, my friends didn't, and it was their only complaint (one guy said it specifically annoyed him).

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how many animes featured in this were ones I've never heard of. Out of all the recent ones the only one I had watched was Blood C. The clips were excellent though, big ups to all the contributors this time. The opening was just perfect too.
I'm not going into extreme detail, but my household will have more than one viewing in one week.

I don't understand why you removed so many of the funnier skits (kiss him goodbye gurren lagann amv, PSG, KAHNNNNNN, I will follow him penguindrum amv, 3-way angel beats amv, Azumanga Daioh - Inception totem amv, etc.) but left things like the K-On doomsday, cat scratch, running with the devil, those godawful ranma clips, hetalia thing, etc. You even added some with horrible quality (looking at you specifically PSG pornstar dancing amv)
Maybe I just have bad taste in clips, but I was more entertained by the first one.
The best amv added in the final cut was the Nichijou clip with hakase and Nano bothering Sakamoto.

I guess it just lacked the 'utterly hilarious' factor that previous Hells had, there were too many lengthy clips in the beginning that made pretty weak jokes and dragged on for too long, the Panty and Stocking clip with the sound-clip of someone dumping and the Death Note one with the Nyan Cat song in the back-ground were particularly annoying, from there on it got pretty damn funny but the beginning kinda ruined it for me, I thought it was AMV Hell tradition by now to begin with a boobs-related clip, take a look at previous Hells, there's a trend, I was disappointed, maybe I shouldn't have watched the original version first, the clips that had been in the original version would have been funnier then. I take it back actually, it is a bit funnier than the original on the whole but not by as much as I was expecting, the intro should've had more short 'n sweet rapid-fire jokes, then towards the middle is when the lengthy ones should've bee, then the end should have all the memorable clips so that it sticks in your mind for a few days afterwards, that's been the formula of previous instalments. Through-out it I kept thinking to myself "Really? They kept THAT one?" then by the end I noticed a few that were awesome in the original that weren't there in the final cut. I guess my expectations were too high, when AMV Hell 3 came along I was extatic, 4 was an improvement and for 5 I thought "They couldn't possible make it any better, I'm going to be disappointed." but then on the day of release I was like "Holy-damn this is amazing, it surpasses all my expectations!". I still say it wasn't the best of the Hells but I have faith that any future instalments will be infinitely more lulzy.

Watching the rough cut first actually improved this version for me. My thoughts more or less consisted of "Someone get these globs of **** out of my eye sockets and tell me what SSG was telling these people." Upon watching 6.66, I thought "Well, this is by no means perfect in any way, shape, or form, but compared to.... that, it's kind of cool I guess."

I was warned not to watch Death and Rebirth, I bought a DVD of End of Evangelion and it came with it. Watched it and realized it was nonsense I already knew how big a milker Evangelion was. Geeze at least when you buy an Asuka Body pillow and a Echii Figure your getting something out of it, death and rebirth pffffft.

Hideki Anno was annoyed and berated by Eva fans for the way the series ended, which was because its funding was pulled after the gore fest of ep 19. Then through constant death threats and even vandalism of Gainax studios. Hideki decided to make the movie to shut people up, he went through depression in the series and for the film he was just annoyed. So really the movie was one big middle finger to alot of the fans that bugged him.

Much like AMV Hell 6.66 has a big middle finger to all those Clip submitter's who complained about feedback.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. There were a few clips that were sub-par, but that's always going to be an occurrence with these sorts of things (Differences in sense of humour, etc.)

There were some really fantastic ones though.

On a different note, I finally went back and rewatched the original AMV Hell 6, and compiled a list of clips I missed. It was more than I was expecting.

Hmm, they look and sound in-time to me. Is your media player delaying video and audio? It's also not just about the explosion themselves - for instance, the missiles crumple to cymbal-clashes in the Rebuild segment, and in the Slayers/Akira segments the big spheres expand/contract/consume a landmark when a new phrase starts.

I was watching AMV Hell 6 and while I felt it was good on an overall level there was a number of good clips I was thinking "shame it was never put in." I figure a good number of clips that were a yes were not cleaned up to quality and had to be dropped or was never re submitted.

Overall it sounds like a nightmare being in SSGWBTD or Zarxas shoes.

I far prefer this version. There are a few duds, but even AMV Hell 3 had some fluff (that stupid "dah-dah-dadadada" video, the Bobobobo "field trip" clip, etc), and this had far fewer than has been the case in the last season of minis. I laughed a good amount, and even without some of the clips I'd liked, I was happy to see that the flow was good, the vast majority of the videos that had been too long or of poor quality had been removed or edited, and some videos that didn't make sense when placed in the middle (the explosions, that weird Evangelion/Welcome to the NHK clip at the end) were either scrapped or put where they made sense. It's far more cohesive than AMV Hell 5 was, too: the intro isn't totally random, it doesn't have multiple iterations of the same sound clips or songs, there are no clips accidentally used in both the hell and the minis, and the usage of the classic "overused" anime (Naruto, Evangelion, One Piece, etc) is toned down considerably. I also appreciated that it had been trimmed down to a reasonable length...you can't watch these things for too long without your attention span slipping.

The old version, if taken as a whole, is a big mess. There are good clips, but it doesn't work as a collective entity. That has a lot to do with the fact that SSG didn't seem to know how best to clean it up. I'm glad that Zarx was able to salvage it.

Eh, the first time we watched the original cut of 6, we thought it sucked. But by the third time of watching it, there were definitely a bunch of clips we loved, so maybe the same will happen with 6.66.

We were disappointed to see that the one clip that used the song from the Mercenaries 2 ad didn't make the cut. We were also super bummed that the very end of the Beck/ATHF got cut, and I personally missed some of the other Old Spice commercials and the "Preposterone!" clip with Fist of the North Star. It was good to see that the Nyaa Nyaa clip with Death Note got edited and trimmed down, and there were some new clips we thought were pretty good.

Personally, I thought the whole "I'm Bi-winning" clip still needed to be trimmed down a lot or even cut entirely. It was well done, sure, but way too long. And the 99 Red Balloons clip was cut together REALLY well (would love to see a full AMV), but it wasn't funny, so I didn't really think it belonged.

I've only watched it the one time, though, so maybe after watching it a couple more times, more of the new clips will grow on me.

I'm kinda upset by those who explain how they find some musical clip only boring because they are not fun, they contain no joke, etc. Damn it, in the first place an AMV is a cool video with an anime and a music, even if it's a bad work (go check it out on You Tube http://forum-thalie.fr/thalie/images/smilies/5a6157d0.gif ). I thought AMV Hell was a sort of zapping with all sort of video, funny, moving, entertaining, all the way available. For example, the "Electric choc" x Pokemon and the "Don't you worry child"x Eva are not really... funny, but they are awesome and pretty well-made.

First AMV Hell, the Jin-Roh skit with the Hungry Like the Wolf cover. It's just cool to watch, not really funny (there is no joke... ?) And there was a lot of skits in the 3 or the 4 who didn't give a **** about the funny and just tried to do something good... or a real 30-second AMV.

And well the guidelines are... the guidelines. "30 seconds max please." So why in the AMV Hell 6 we have six 1-minute skits ?

The "Frou Frou" clip in AMV Hell 3 did have a joke attached....it was a parody of a famous AMV ("Euphoria"), special effects intact. The joke was that the RahXephon footage from the original had been replaced (very cleverly) with Azumanga Daioh footage. There's another parody of it in AMV Hell 0...this time with footage from the RahXephon movie, set to a song where some dude decries "being denied all the best ultra-sex". That one's been funnier to me ever since I saw that movie and realized how terrible it was compared to the TV series.

There are definitely a few clips that I have enjoyed primarily for the aesthetic aspect, however. The "Technologic"/Serial Experiments Lain AMV in 4 is a good example. It was clever but not "funny"....a very well-synched music video that's good in AMV Hell "once-in-a-while".

Not particulary funny, just... some are beautiful, others badass, rousing, etc. We can also find creepy clip : good one like "Obstacle 1" by SGW on Higurashi (Hell 5, Rika with her knife...) and... some I don't consider as good, for example "nom nom nom" on Blood-c http://forum-thalie.fr/thalie/images/smilies/Janv03.gif .

Yeah, I love good musical basic AMV, not only the funny ones. But i do agree with Amo, 30s are enough. More than 40, it may breake the rythm of the movie. Although I rather like the Baka to test on Batman Beyond made by Gaelstrom ; the same who did this good but looooong Soul Eater :rolleyes:

"I'm Blue" had a joke behind it, also (beyond the fairly obvious one)....the (terrible) music video for that song features Blue Aliens abducting the band, and since Interstella 5555 is basically a movie about a reverse alien abduction (of a rock band, no less), that clip was a play on that. At least I think.

I'd still say that the number of clips is pretty small compared to the overtly funny ones. You just cited six clips, which is a pretty small number compared to the hundreds that have been in all of the hells and minis.

One thing to consider is that clips that strike us as just "well-edited" may also have a clever but subtle joke behind them. I never realized that the aforementioned "Frou Frou" clip was even a joke until I saw the original AMV. It worked on its own, which is why I didn't mind.

In this Hell, the ones that struck me as "well-edited and well done rather than funny" were Evangelion/Skyfall (I wouldn't mind seeing that one made into a full AMV) and Arakawa/Just Be Good To Green. The Redline/99 Red Ballons clip might count, also, since the editing was more interesting than the (relatively weak, in my opinion) joke.

I liked the "History Repeating" clip quite a bit, also. That was one of the few that I was really sorry to not see included.

It's kind of interesting to think that some of your clips for 6 might have been shelved in favor of your own new submissions, since you sent in several new ones that made it in the second time around.
