okay,

here I got a question...

does really everybody like echhi that much?

I mean, I don't like Echhi at all myself, for example:
It are always the same jokes (never funny though)
If you want to see something sex related, why wouldn't you watch porn?
It ruins sometimes really good series, like, the story is really nice, the art is really good, and then come this stupid jokes, which make other people think "why are you watching this?" even though it's really a good series.

I've been noticing that echhi is so populair, that series with only echhi, but a crappy story get really high votes and stuff like that.

I'm just thinking it's wired that everybody is liking this stuff so much =p

I am 100% with you on that. A few of my friends adore Ikki Tousen, but I can't stand to watch it. I really think there should be a fine line between porn and... er, not porn.

I can live with fanservice, but when it's all in your face like that, I tune out.

Edit: Just to point out, this friend hates Azumanga Daioh, so his credibility is... questionable. To say the least.

yh, and I think that Azumanga is the great example of how comedy anime should be,

Ecchi's perfectly fine to me, but there is some stuff that mucks up the show or is too shameless to bear.

Here's examples of well done ecchi: Ranma 1/2, Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi, Seitokai Yakuindomo
And examples poorly done ecchi: HSoTD, Eiken, Girls bravo, Green Green.

Hard to explain how there's a difference the two, but to me personally, while the former uses it as a relatively natural plot/comedy device, the latter is more "Hey, look at this! Boodies! Pantsu! Camera close ups! WEEEEE!!!" I don't care if it's in an anime, how it's presented matters more to me.

And as a side note, if you watch anime period, you're gonna have to stop giving a (EFF) about what people peeking over the shoulder think.

I mostly agree with this. i think echhi is better when presented well, but ill watch most series anyway even if it isn't

Fanservice is okay. But it can be unnecessary at times. Preferably during slightly dramatic scenes or etc.
