Clearly people have a very poor understanding of what wtf means. Half of these either went with 'let's use something already weird from an anime and stick random music over it' or just plain 'this was probably a rejection/late clip for an earlier challenge'. Only one I enjoyed was 13, and that still wasn't fully wtf. Starting to wonder if people are just submitting unshown clips regardless of theme and shoehorning in something related to the challenge last minute

Ok so 9 nailed it, 8 actually made me stop for a second and think wtf. But 16 genuinely made me laugh my lungs out.

Overall **** round with a few good ones. I must say though with all the crappy clips, I have the feeling that the intention of the clips just goes over our heads and we simply don't get it. Or the editor failed to get his point across.

02 – 34 seconds – Point (2). Entertainment and amusement; are you familiar with either of these terms? This was a marvellous waste of time. I hope you misplace a step whilst walking down some stairs for this… but not actually fall down the stairs- just get a mild scare from the experience, forcing you to reflect on your decision to submit this worthless entry.

03 – Special beams – Perfect.

04 – Sandy – 4:3 aspect ratio; are you familiar with this concept?
The transition frame was utilised well, although it is a shame that the static you used clearly doesn’t match the static in the real one:

Seriously, it’s very clearly not the same. If you’re going to do something- you might as well do it right. Right?
By any chance is that static really one of those magic pictures with a hidden boat in it? Presumably a boat called “F U Chaz”?
There’s some ugly ghosting all around. I might normally direct you to point (6) but I get the impression here that maybe this wasn’t present in your original source videos, could this be a rendering issue with your editing software?
No prizes for laughs, but a mildly entertaining entry.

06 – Red hot, steamy line action – Point (2).

08 – Wait for it – Where’s the joke? Where’s the joke? Where’s the j- Oh, there it is.
Having a long build up to an abrupt punchline certainly can work. This didn’t.
You should have used Elfen Lied footage exclusively. The scenes from all the other shows were just redundant filler. Bad entry.

09 – Pelvic thrust – My only complaint here is that this entry is re-treading old ground.
Are you sure you selected the right challenge bracket in the submissions form? As much as this qualifies to be a “WTF” AMV it also appears to be a remake of a certain clip from some project that was recently released… and blocked. Check around the 5:24 mark if it ever resurfaces (http://tinyurl.com/pxxht5m).
Anyway- the audio and video fits perfectly, but having (unfortunately) watched the above-mentioned project already- I knew what the gag was as soon as the clip started.
Is it better than the original though? Well… <shrugs> Sure. Whatever.

10 – A video – Point (2).

11 – Real fancy – The lip syncing was fine up until the very end, you need to control those frames, tame the beast. The audio of the surprised gasp sounded slightly cut-off by the final line (between 4:29 and 4:30), you might want to get better acquainted with Audacity’s fade in/out effects. Okay entry.

12 – Madoka made no joke-a – Point (2).

13 – SpiderBerry – It’s not a rule, Lan; but we encourage anonymity until the voting period is over. Don’t go creaming yourself over a couple of received compliments.
Let’s take a look at what you’ve done here- as far as I can tell you haven’t actually edited the scene in any way and you haven’t replaced any audio- rather just tacked on some unrelated sound bites. There’s no real punchline to the clip either. This is really lazy.

Well I liked this one. There were many ones I thought were just well made, many that were amusing, and many that fit the theme.

The problem I had was that there didn't seem to be one that immediately stood out as particularly funny AND particulary WTF. I had to watch it a couple of times before I decided.

1. That's a funny skit, there. Alas, not really squicky.

2. Trying to bore the viewer to death?

3. I guess laser boobs will work for a select few people, but not with me. I also don't get where the audio is from.

4. Catchy and dynamic. A decent AMV, but not so much WhatThe****ery.

5. Aw, so sad *sarcasm* Your AMV is about girls shooting each other, so? Are you a prude, by any chance?

The discussion of youtube idiocy reminds me of an article I read the other day that basically describes how childhood and adulthood are disappearing, and we are being left with adult children. Basically, it advocates the invention of the printing press and widespread use of written language as the factor that lead to the separation of the two stages of life.

Before this point, children and adults were pretty much the same after the age of 7. This was a society was passed down orally, so mental maturity isn't really needed to learn pretty much all of society's information. Children and adults after this age dressed the same, talked the same, and did pretty much the same jobs (within physical limits). Then the printing press comes along, and that is where information becomes stored. Now you have to read in order to gain information, and reading requires discipline, patience, and comes in grades of greater understanding. Literacy becomes the barrier for entry into adulthood, and the world's information becomes a secret to you until then, making adults part of a secret society. You get to learn more and more secrets as you advance in literacy, and eventually become a full member once you have passed the standardized level that most information is written in.

With television, youtube, and other forms of video easily available, now we're going back to a storage medium for our information that doesn't require maturity or discipline to understand. As a result, children growing up in this era have greater access to the secret information if the world at a much younger age, and feel they should be treated as adults without developing the other side traits previously required. The traits that make one a good reader are no longer necessary, and so those traits are no longer needed for adulthood. And without those requirements, we once again do not truly have a barrier between adulthood and childhood; now they're starting to blend together again after about age 15 (some reading is still required online, so it pushes the age up a bit).

So perhaps youtubers aren't a case of idiocy, they're just the natural result of raising the next generation on technology.
