Most annoying thing ever. My windows movie maker keeps lagging for no reason. The audio keeps playing fine, but every couple of seconds the picture pauses and then jumps forward to where it's supposed to be after a few seconds.

I've looked around and people say stuff like that happens with crappy computer. However, I just bought my computer brand new a few month ago. Granted, it isn't a very good computer, but it isn't bad enough that it wouldn't be able to run movie maker efficiently. Unless movie maker has really high requirements, which would seem ridiculous.

The only thing i could think of doing it would maybe be the videos. i've used a couple different videos that all came from different places online. they all seem to do it though. could it possibly have something to do with the fact that i've downloaded them?

If anyone could just suggest something that would be awesome. It's nearly impossible to make AMVs when it keeps doing it. So i'd like to solve it as quick as possible.

Most video editing software can really hog your resources (CPU, RAM, etc), so maybe closing out of EVERYTHING other than WMM would help.

Also, try getting Game Booster 2. It can temporarily end extra services that you really don't need while you're editing a video (or playing a game, obviously :P).
It's free, by the way.

Yeah, closing out of everything has no effect. I've tried it before. But maybe i'll have to try the game booster thing.

WMV is very poorly optimized software. It often has this issue when editing long or high quality videos. The best option would be to start using other video editing software.

There's not a whole lot of free stuff out there, though. That may not be an option.

i don't know. i was only making a twenty second long video today and the quality wasn't amazing. and it was doing it worse than ever. maybe it does have something to do with my computer being bad. i guess i'll have to stop being so cheap and actually buy a decent program. what is the average price range for those programs?

go to start or wherever your my computer is and right click on it go to properties go to the advanced tab got to performence. click for best performence then scroll down to the end and check the last 2. then go to advanced tab there and go to virtual memory make the two numbers match the highest one.
then go to your winwos folder on your c: drive and clear out your temp and prefetch folders. that should give you a little bit more speed.
