We folks in the chatbox were discussing having an online dungeons & dragons game (3.5e I assume >.<).

Anyone interested? I know we need someone to be DM. >.<

holy sh*t man. D&D, that brings back memories. I filled up 50 pages of a notebook for a dungeon. I had this awesome story planned out and everything. We were totally going to play, but a couple of people cancelled and it was hours down the drain. We never played again after that... And before you can even ask, no I'm not suggesting that I DM. I hate DMing. but i like your idea, sounds awesome.

If we do D&D it would have to be 3.5, that being said, I'd rather play something else, my preferences are WW systems for making so much more sense, I've been wanting to try the 40k rp systems and I would have to suggest the Naruto D20 for being awesome

mebbe. but 3.5 was tedious broken and painful. and 4e is pretty smooth and simple. more time for roleplaying when you dont have to spend 500 hours trying to break your character so you can pwn face in combat(which takes forever).

The fallout one had some copyright issues, I think it was because of Black Isle and Bethesda still not fully knowing who owned the rights to Fallout. :P

Eventually they just dropped the Fallout theme and made it general post-apocalyptia and called it Exodus. I haven't seen it anywhere, though. >.<


EDIT: We need to decide: 3.5 or 4e? C'mon, enough with this near-flamewar, just pick. >.<

I'm more comfortable with 4e, but I guess I can try 3.5.

4E isn't all that bad of a game, but it's too oversimplified, options are what makes these kinds of games fun; Moreover it really only works as a minis game and therefore we shouldn't run it online. As for the fallout rpg, just pass it for GURPS fallout, since fallout was made using the GURPS system before Steve Jackson pulled out so it really meshes well.

I'd really like to play Exalted but I would insist on several modified rules, as such if it's a WW system it would have to be WoD, and on that note nWoD would be a better choice than any oWoD system. I would suggest Mage for that matter.

Like I said though, I really want to try out one of the 40K systems, Rogue Traders is old and really only ok but having read through a lot of the Dark Heresy material, I think we'd have an awesome and totally epic game

yes however filezilla is far less intrusive and requires just one person to keep a computer running as a server. In fact it would take almost no effort

I could GM, if absolutely necessary (and if I can find the time to make a scenario), online games can't have too many players, in RL I'd have about 6 players, a couple more 1 or 2 less, online I aim for about 4, 5 if it's Exalted or the like where there are 5 castes

it's a huge time issue for me, I don't plan out every minute detail, because doing that stuff on the fly can be more immersive, but I put a lot of time into making a scenario. Still, if I were going to GM a game, this would be it because I love being Friend Computer (though he may lose some effect from this not being IRL, but what can you do)

well if you would enjoy doing it i think it'll work out great. personally i think you would do a better job than anyone else seriously talking about playing. i dont think anyone would mind waiting a while for the scenario to get worked out.

sorry, Lurker, everyone seems to want Paranoia, which is still a great game, it does save the trouble of picking a WoD game to play, then making sure everyone is up on the lore.

Yeah, was a good suggestion you made of Paranoia, as it would be the easiest to set up and get going.

Also, for an online program to look at and maybe use to help with playing the games, have a look at ScreenMonkey.
