You could always start one yourself. Get a group of friends and do some video editing. AMV Hell doesn't have to be the only series of anime skits. The Hell Team probably does need a break, whether it be permanent or not.

That's always a possibility, but who seriously would want to be considered a knock-off or imitator of AMV Hell? There would constantly be a wave of comments flying at you, most of which would probably say either, "Meh, you're okay, but not as good as AMV Hell," or "NEEEEEEEEEEH J00 SUXXORZ LOL!"

Too bad it will probably be the last one. There are so many songs out there that can be parodied half to death, such as Crank That Soulja Boy(someone actually made an AMV with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya dance, and a Lucky Star one. So hilarious) and all those great songs from Avenue Q like If You Were Gay, The Internet is for Porn, and Everyone is a little bit racist.

Dammit all to hell.

I'm glad I managed to get clips into the "final" HELL, but this beautiful thing must not die! This is the beauty of Multi-Editor AMV projects! No matter how much time has passed, there will always be people with brilliant ideas, funny ideas, that feel the need to put them together and make one single WIN. But there is no other AMV HELL. Anything else would be shunned and simply unable to reach the heights HELL has. They say that when one door closes, another one opens. Unfortunately, AMV HELL is the fire escape. So when it closes, we're pretty much screwed.

I beg and plead with you mothers and fathers of the HELL, keep the dream alive. If people bitch and complain about quality, piss in their eye and push on. If the submissions suck, keep rejecting until you get your reward. We love AMV HELL, we love it to death and back. In fact, the ending to 4 moved me ways other AMVs simply don't do. I'm definately not the only one, but one of many, many others who desperately don't want to see this go.

I'm already getting ideas unconciously for an AMV HELL that may never exist. Captain Tsubasa with audio from "HOME MOVIES", Hunter X Hunter with "Fishin Hole", I can't stop these thoughts. I realise you're all probably sick of Deathnote/One Piece/Azumanga Daioh/Haruhi Suzumiya/etc., but there are unlimited combinations for other anime, as many before me have said, that haven't even come out yet.

As the ending credits so fittingly state, please, ..."carry on".

I agree that it's impossible to make a series better and better, except that this exactly the opposite of what you're talking about. Jump the shark? How can a genre jump the shark? The only way that can happen is if people kept submitting the same clips over and over in (hypothetically) future installments. AMV HELL has the potential to stay fresh for practically forever, depending how the selection process is handled.

Ending AMV HELL for fear of growing stale is like trying to cancel the Olympics for the same reason. Sure your playing the same old game, but someone always brings somthing to the show that makes the whole thing worthwhile. Plus it's a chance for all the pros from all over to come out and stretch their creative wings against each other. Am I talking about the Olympics still, or AMV HELL? Bet it's hard to tell, huh?

If the creators are bored, that's understandable. But in a year or two, the creative spark will be back, and an urge to scratch the same old creativity itch will present itself. And we'll be there, backscratchers in hand.

Look guys, I agree that AMV Hell is a great project and am a little sad that 4 was the last one, however I think that it is a good thing that it is ending. If something keeps on going and going, the quality of the content of each video will go down in each and the project will lose respect for having too many editions. I'm all for more AMV Hell, if they decide to do another one, but I think I'd be fine if this was the last one too. Personally, I'm waiting for somebody to surpass AMV Hell to become and even greater AMV montage movie project (what exactly do you call it?). The channle flipping of the AMV series is so engrained in my mind that it's hard picturing it any other way.

Although CE is an only child, it didn't follow the same flow as the official AMV Hell series. The ones I mentioned were related in that the footage used was intended for the first, but, due to wanting to make the series more family friendly, were cut and grouped together. If you truly want to include CE as a full fledged member of the series, be my guest, but that would mean TWO more AMV Hells are owed.

adobe.com has a 30 day free trial of premiere 6...i used it to make my submissions for hell 4 now it ran out and i am program-less lol...so i am in the same boat, but you should peep premiere it is pretty simple to use once you have logged a few hours of experimenting.

It is spawning but it is using something that he created and he is not directly related to this project so i it is as if his name will be put towards a project that he may not want. I think at this juncture before everyone gets to excited we should bring it up with him. If not we can start another site, or just drop off the "AMV hell championship edition" because that represents his own brainchild. So zarx, if you are reading, is it ok if we continue with this title? (Because in reality guys this is NOT a sequal to CE because zarx is not involved in the project...unless he wants to be...)

UNO i have a lot of respect for you, i mean, it seems as if every evening i am posting as a reply to everything you say, haha. But honestly, i disagree completely with what you are saying. When we watch an anime, and the ending is TERRIBLE, i mean downright awful, what can you do? Write the producers and request a change? Petition audiences to share your sentiments and approach the company? Sure, but it is not the fans right to change it for them. There are fan fiction sites and douj. etc, but they are different beasts all together. People go into these douj&#39;s and realize they are different, realize they aren&#39;t what the original creator had in mind, what we are talking about doing here is bypassing zarx and ss completely, only to pursue our own selfish goal of perpetuating AMV hell into the future. I know that if i created something, chose to end it on my own terms with as big a "bang" as i could, and then others came behind me and made it there own without even consulting me or respecting my right to complete my opus the way i saw fit, i would be upset and feel disrespected. We love AMV hell, i know, i have seen countless conversations on this board. The fact we all still come back here to post is testiment to the fact that we are all invested into this series of projects, however, again, that does not give us any sort of creative control over future installments.

I am down for doing this thing, and Masterage i do have faith in our abilities; however i believe we are shortchanging ourselves. Why limit ourselves to the AMV hell umbrella when those from this board can be responsible for starting our own MEP that is hell-esq, but has no direct ties to the series other than the fact we all met on the boards...that way WE are the creators, WE are responsible, and WE show what WE can do.

UNO i have a lot of respect for you, i mean, it seems as if every evening i am posting as a reply to everything you say, haha. But honestly, i disagree completely with what you are saying. When we watch an anime, and the ending is TERRIBLE, i mean downright awful, what can you do? Write the producers and request a change? There are fan fiction sites and douj. etc, but they are different beasts all together. People go into these douj&#39;s and realize they are different, realize they aren&#39;t what the original creator had in mind, what we are talking about doing here is bypassing zarx and ss completely, only to pursue our own selfish goal of perpetuating AMV hell into the future. I know that if i created something, chose to end it on my own terms with as big a "bang" as i could, and then others came behind me and made it there own without even consulting me or respecting my right to complete my opus the way i saw fit, i would be upset and feel disrespected. We love AMV hell, i know, i have seen countless conversations on this board. The fact we all still come back here to post is testiment to the fact that we are all invested into this series of projects, however, again, that does not give us any sort of creative control over future installments.

I am down for doing this thing, and Masterage i do have faith in our abilities; however i believe we are shortchanging ourselves. Why limit ourselves to the AMV hell umbrella when those from this board can be responsible for starting our own MEP that is hell-esq, but has no direct ties to the series other than the fact we all met on the boards...that way WE are the creators, WE are responsible, and WE show what WE can do.

However what we can do as fans is take what we love about AMV hell and make it into our OWN beast...let Zarx and SS&#39;s creation rest for however long they intend it. ;D That is all

Secondly, I proposed "AMV Hell: teh 4um s7r1k35 b4ck" instead of adding in the "CE". What difference does that make, you ask? [As HL2&#39;s G-man]All the difference in the world[/G-man]. This allows our project to be a spin-off, rather than a true continuation. So, when the ending to an anime sucks, yes, you are right, there is nothing you can do except pout. However, when a spin-off isn&#39;t as good, you just ignore it. When the spin-off is awesome (*cough*FMP Fumoffu*cough), the series as a whole seems rejuvenated. It will still be close enough to the original to warrant keeping the AMV Hell name, but I doubt we&#39;ll be able to make it exactly as Zarxrax would have, anyway, even if we tried. We are the closest to the AMV Hell series than anyone else in the world, so why shouldn&#39;t it fall on us to keep it alive? Who else, other than us here, are there to take up the reigns? We are not "bypassing" Zarx in any way, shape, or form. We are not doing it simply because we think we can do a better job. We are doing it because we feel AMV Hell shouldn&#39;t die. Now, I don&#39;t intend to be a total jackass here. We seem to be torn in the issue, and there is only one REAL way to settle this. There is only one way that will satisfy both sides either way. Zarxrax himself will need to give us the go ahead to continue the AMV Hell moniker. Even though you all know where I stand on that issue, I know that half of us would not feel right simply taking the name by force. If Zarx truly wants AMV Hell to die, then he will not give us the okay. In that event, although I won&#39;t be happy with the outcome, I will agree to scrapping the AMV Hell moniker. However, if Zarxrax doesn&#39;t mind, or otherwise favors, the idea of someone else continuing the work, then I feel we should take the opportunity and keep AMV Hell going strong.

Oh, and I change my vote for best title:

I have never noticed you simply call me UNO before. Otherwise, I would have corrected you sooner. Still, as long as we are on the same page, it doesn&#39;t matter too much.
Hopefully, Zarxrax isn&#39;t avoiding this topic simply to not have to give an answer. However, his answer will have a significant effect on the way the vid is made. If we are given the okay to continue the series on our own, then we can use some of the well established motifs almost directly (i.e. the T.V. changing channels, the typeface for the logo, use of the site itself, etc). If he doesn&#39;t mind us using the name, but would rather us let the series as we know it die, then we make a spin-off, and reference (but not recreate) some of the motifs. If he just wants us to leave well enough alone, we would be forced to create a "homage" video, and parody the motifs. Either way, I look forward to working with a group such as you all. I can&#39;t think of anyone else I&#39;d rather partake in such a project with.

Well, yes. When necessary, I have the ability to think out my response thoroughly in order to insure my point is understood and taken to heart. Many people used to say I should join my H.S.&#39;s debate team. If I wasn&#39;t so lazy, I probably would have.

If you want to do something similar to AMV Hell without leaving the name completely behind you could always call it

"AMV Heck: A Tribute to AMV Hell"

you could even use Tenacious D&#39;s "Tribute" in the opening scene to emphasize the title.

That&#39;s something we would do if Zarxrax wanted us to leave it totally alone. There are already a few videos like that, though. What I&#39;m hoping for is to continue the series. Our project should be AMV Hell: Season 2, or something like that. If we are successful, AMV Hell: TFSB can have a couple of movies of its own. Then, when we become unwilling or unable to continue, we will pass the reigns. I&#39;m not looking to just make another AMV Hell. I&#39;m looking to continue it as a whole. I&#39;m willing to put in months of work and fine tuning, to sweat and bleed, to deal with encoding issues and broken codecs, and, at the end of it all, to deal with the inevitable naysayers who will sit back and complain that AMV Hell 3 was still the best. It will be worth it all in the end to have created something that will inspire so many others to create their own projects. How many submissions did AMV Hell 4 get? Out of those, how many do you think were first-timers cutting their teeth with WMM? How many of us were inspired by AMV Hell? The anxiousness of watching that list of editors shrink? The excitement of camping of the boards to see the final product, whether it was to see your vid, the vids that beat yours, or simply to see the work of other people who just might be as demented as you? No, AMV Hell is NOT dead. The site/board is still here, and has recently been given new life. We are still here, and our own resolve has been strengthened. What more do we need? C&#39;mon guys! Regardless of whether you think we stand a chance of being remembered even half as fondly as AMV Hell: Classics, AMV Hell: Teh 4-um S7rik3s B4ck demands that we give it our all!

How long do we want it (target goal/guesstimate)?
Want to make new transition animations ( i know i do)?
Timetable?
Track List (if CE style)?

I agree that a new CE would be the easiest way for the new editor to break into the job. In order to get it done a number of steps must be taken:
1. Decide with absolute certainty whether or not we can call it AMV Hell.
2. Establish a master editor.
3. Decide whether or not we are going to use judges from the forums.
4. The M editor decides who the lucky previewers will be.
5. Advertise to editors about the new project.
And the more a I think about it, the more I believe it will end up being okay to call it AMV Hell, as it is a genre, not a trademark. Would someone please just E-mail the higher-ups if your all so serious about this project?

We just need to be in agreement over where we are going to sail before we think about what our ship will be. Am I to assume that you are now whit me on the direction, then Matt? Then, if there are no more reservations, we can begin!

My vote goes for compilation style. It&#39;s our best shot at achieving the goal at hand.

Since it will be our first time, 30-40 min should be a good start, though this shouldn&#39;t be set in stone until we can get more people on this.

New transitions? I would prefer keeping the channel-surfing televisions, but I am open to new ideas, if anyone has any!

Timetable? I have no idea, yet. ASAP? Lol! Let&#39;s come to that bridge after we cross it. :P

Regardless of where we sail to, we&#39;ll still need a proper shipyard, so lets be bold and build it in the AMV Hell discussion. If worst comes to worst, we can move it to "Other videos" later. See you all there! ;)

Planned for hopeful release at Otakon...although if sooner, MTAC XD
Rule and guidelines are pretty much up now.
It&#39;s like AMV Hell 1 all over again...
and it&#39;s just starting out, most on the board are mainly from here, advertising for other AMV artists has not begun yet.

I don&#39;t think anyone considers you an inconvenience (at least, not yet...). We&#39;d love to have you on board. We are already approaching this as the first in a new series, but, so far, this is the only project on the horizon. One step at a time. This will be considered "amateur", considering none of us stand to make any money off of this (Professional AMV? Does that even exist?). :P
