I have to say, I just finished and it was epic. I was happy to be apart of such a great project. (Burning for you, and Sunglasses at night, here.)
I'd have to say the one with Light doing the akward laugh made me hysterical.

I actually did not like it very much.. there were a couple of clips at which i laughed, but most of the times i just did not see any humour in them. Could have been the choice of music..
and yeah, there were a couple of _good_ amv's that just weren't that funny.. they were nicely done but not funny..

No where near as good as AMV Hell 3, or any of them. Only made me laugh twice or so, which wasen't even a full on laugh it was just a grimace. Not up to the usual par, which is a shame as this is the last one.. Or perhaps this is a trick and the real, funny, AMV Hell 4 will be released in a week?

Yeh, they didn't add any humours parts, instead they just added stuff that synced with anime which 99.9% of the time was not funny. Sometimes cool though.

I agree, im watching it again, and this time it is sooo much better
Its like when I watched Napoleon Dynamite, the first time I saw it i thought it sucked, but after watching it a couple more times i thought it was hilarious.

Just saw this review at Gamefaqs anime forum and thought it appropriate rather then taking the time to write my own since I complete agree.
<<AMV Hell 4...sucked hardcore. I'll probably be the only one to come out and say this and not just jump on the "anything we get is forcefed awesome" bandwagon, but it has to be said. It's not even like, "well, it was decent, but couldn't live up to the first 3 (or 4 or 5)", it wasn't even, "well, this was dissapointing", this was hardcore fail. My dissapointment at the incredibly lackluster end to an otherwise epic series of humorous AMV projects knows no bounds.
(1) The lack of "speaking" bits (tv show, commercial, movie clips) rule, and enforcement of music-only automatically took away from what made up 75-80% of the funniest, and outside the box clips in AMV Hell 3 and seriously dimished the ingenuity available to the creators.
(2) It was just plain unfunny. Every other clip in AMV Hell 3 is crap your oants heelarious, while the 3 or 4 genuinely funny clips in this WHOLE project (most of which were chuckle clips and not laugh uproariously clips) were the exception. More than half of the entries werent even "comedy" per se, to say nothing of the hilarious parody or wrongness of the revious entries in the series. Most are just bits of what could have been normal AMVs with no inherent jokes or parody, or humor for that matter, injected.
(3) There was VERY little thought and ingenuity put into this one. I suspected as much when they announced the entry acceptance rules and 99% of the AMV making community were automatically like "ALRIGHT! I'm'a gonna pump out like, 7, clips of unfunny, random crap and get them accepted. Unfortunately, it seems this is EACTLY what happened.
Worst of all it seems like at least 70-80% of the clips are either made of (A) clips and jokes that are ALREADY IN AMV Hell 1,2,3, III.I.IV, or Championship Addition, (B) repeats of jokes and clips that are ALREADY IN AMV Hell 4 earlier, and (C) "jokes", clips, and WHOLE IDEAS ripped straight from other AMVs that already exist!
It seems to me that most of the thought process behind the "clips" went something like: "hmmm, I want to make something funny. Should I think up an idea or at least use a clever application of an already existing joke? Naawwwww, I'll just google for a song with the lyrics about heart attacks in the chorus and then apply Death Note footage. MAN IM SO FUNNIEZ!"
(4) No variety whatsoever. 90% of the clips and anime represented are not only old but already featured in previous AMV Hells. There are hundreds, if not thousands of anime, POPULAR anime out there, and people could only rehash things that are old news or have been done "OVER 9000!!!11!" times before. Besides the one Code Geass clip, one Kanon clip, 2 or 3 Haruhi clips (ALL from either the opening or the rock concert), and a number of Death Note clips (also all the same jokes about L) there was almost nothing not seen previously.
Very rarely have I been so let down by so many.>>

Maybe the problem isn't the project, but people's expectations of it.
That being said, I've been at work all day and haven't had a chance to watch it yet. We'll see.

I have to disagree Zarxrax and CorpseGodess. I remember dying with laughter while and after watching AMV Hell 1, 2, and 3, and even 0, as well as getting some good chuckles out of "pi" and :CE. I remember zipping through them for an hour or two watching the best parts over and over again and have since watched them dozens of times and shown them as part of my regular Convention programming to vast crowds of people dozens more times as I operate entertainment at at least half a dozen conventions per year.
After this one I just felt bored and as if I had just watched a years worth of crappy AMVs on AMV.org to weed out the few good ones (something I do through hundreds of crappy AMVS each year). I realize this is just my opinion, but I can't even consider compairing the hilarity of the previous ones with this work of mediocrity.
Also, CorpseGoddess, I've already watched it with two groups of people. My friends after work (about a dozen people), and the anime club I'm called in from time to time to mentor in town (about 20 people today). There was groaning, booing, and half the people in both groups lost interest and left halfway through. I can still show AMV Hell 3 in both settings after they;ve all seen it at least a dozen times and people will still call the jokes out loud, crack up, and stay till the end.

Fair enough, but you've also proved my point.
It keeps getting compared to 3, instead of standing on its own merit. Sometimes things take time to grow on you.
So again, the expectations of the project aren't that it's going be AMV Hell 4, but it's going to be AMV Hell 3.
The jokes and stuff might be good, they're just suffering under comparison.
Again, haven't watched it. I'll weigh in tonight (probably far from sober) when I do.

So I am not alone in thhis thought, yes it was pretty dissapointing.. It was a very well done project, dont get me wrong, but I honestly belive that this was the worst one out of all of them in terms of laughter... when I wasn't laughing during the first twenty minutes, I had an uneasy feeling for the rest of the movie. Truely dissapointing...
as for the hype... Why whouldn't we have hyped it up? the rest were frikken masterpieces! you would figure this would be the best, and last one!
One of my major concerns was seeing the same god damn anime over and OVER again... the one with the goth looking guy... his character alone was in at least 10 skits... and none of them were very funny.
I know- other characters appeared dozens of times... but they were funny. Every time I say the first image of that character, I just thought, oh no, THIS again...
ALSO: a CRAPLOAD of the clips were from previous Hells... What the Hell? This is my second biggest gripe... the lack of very many new clips... it was essentially like watching AMVHELL 3 with a different sound track...
I think lack of diversity, poor music, and just general un-funnyness killed it for me.
That said, Xantax still good a good job putting it together.

Well, everyone has their own opinions I suppose. I personally felt that this one was leaps and bounds ahead of AMV Hell 3. At the initial screening at Anime Weekend Atlanta, the crowd absolutely loved it--nonstop laughter almost the entire time.

I just finished my first screening and i LOVED IT. i think comparing it to previous hells is like comparing bebop to trigun...they're similar but at the end of the day they are their own beast. If you ask me, I think we wait for the people expecting a holywood masterpiece to leave, and some newer viewers to really see.
I'm pretty sure. Things are gonna change over time.
Thank you. This was the best one out of all of them. About a good 80% of the clips were laugh out loud funny while the remaining 20% still managed to bring a chuckle out of me. Only after my first screening do I already find myself replaying my favorite clips in my head.("You're gonna pay dad! YOuU'RE GONNA PAY!!!!!! All I'm gonna say is expectations are a bitch. It sucked the first time I watched it and I was all ready to write a negative review, but it gets better on every rewatch. Not ready to say it's clearly better than AH3 yet, but who knows. If you don't like it, watch AH3 again, think seriously about it's strong points and weak points, and then watch AH4 again while asking yourself if it's really that much worse by those standards. This won't magically give you the ability to objectively rate humor, but it'll short circuit your unrealistic expectations (you probably have them even if you don't realize it, especially if you think it sucked). The AMV Hell brand of humor requires you to be be in a pretty open frame of mind, and that was true for AH3 the first time you watched it too. Don't miss out on the last AMV Hell because you had a tainted first impression - I almost did!
Everything is funnier with friends, including drinking until you puke, but it probably also helps short circuit expectations too. And expecting it not to be compared to AH3 is ridiculous. But that's OK, because it's very comparable.

i think it was great, no greater than great, and i rly was close to dying from laughing a couple of times. i am however bothered by that not at all funny goth freak thingy and all the death note clips, they somehow just didn't fit in something as great as AMV hell 3:the motion picture 2: AMV Hell 4:the last one.
if i like almost everyone else here should compare it to 1,2 and 3 i would say that this one was sligtly better than 3 which was at least for me the greatest of greatness before. they're all still godlike (exept 0... scarred me for life) but there's hardly any difference in their lvl of greatness. i must admit the long wait rly got me to expect a lot of this but there's a limit to how much this sort of thing can actualy improve, when u already know what the best of the best looks like
so i think it was superb beyond words, but hey so were the others, i am also rly impressed u managed to recycle so many clips and series and still keep it funny... GREAT WORK! all involed in this project can tap their shoulders or whatever they want to do, knowing that this is indeed a masterpiece that will go into history, or well... at least ill remember it forever, along side with the other ones :D :D :D

0 is too uneven to be godlike, but that's what it aspires to be and that's what makes it satan. Godlike or not, it'll still take you to AMV Hell... AND RAPE YOUR SOUL. But you'll like it. And then you'll feel guilty for liking it. And then you'll watch it again.

okay, post-first watch review:
bear in mind I've been drinking and partaking in the glories of nature that British Columbia has to offer.
Overall impression: more brilliant than 3.
Personal impression: I'm sad that more of my clips didn't make it in and I'm biased for certain clips.
edit: Now I'm more bewildered about my own clips--ones I thought for SURE were going to get in didn't and ones I wrote off as dreck got in. I is confused.
But my overall impression still stands---I think this a much more "mature" project than 3---if I can even use that word here. I laughed my ass off at most of it.

It was alright--
Some of the music had hard-to-hear lyrics at times, or it may have just been the way the artists sang the songs so that it was difficult to understand.
And yeah, it's less PG than AMV Hell 3. Some of the clips were a little bit...ah...uncomfortable to watch. =P
Maybe some of the jokes are more "exclusive" to some people, since I felt like there was a lot in there that I didn't get...><
I could tell that there were a few ones that would mostly be funny if you had watched the anime before, too.
It was pretty good, though--there were some in there that I thought were hilarious. XD

I admit, when I first started watching, I felt really let down, after months of waiting and expectations. I only had time to watch about 20 minutes, I had to go do something else.
When I came back (with less stress and lower expectations) I found the rest much improved. So I went back and watched the beginning, and liked it a while lot better the second time, too.
I didn't get a lot of it--haven't seen much of the more popular animes in it, like Death Note, One Piece, DBZ and M of Haruhi S--but the clips from the animes I did know, I loved, and found several with unfamiliar animes hilarious, too. Even loved many of the ones where I thought I must have missed the joke.
And though I did feel a few jokes were 'repeated' from AMV Hell 3, I thought the new incarnations of them were better than the originals.
Great job, Zarxrax and everyone!

too much deathnote clips
anyway, I liked 3 more. There was more funny stuff in 3. The only thing I even laughed at in this one was the "Dear Sister" SNL skit parody that happened a few times.
It wasn't as original as 3 either. Saw alot of anime that was already in AMV Hell 3. seems almost like you re-used some things.

Ok, so I've watched it 3 and a half times now. And it really has gotten funnier each and every time, I'm going to run down my thoughts now that my friends are out for the night.
Ok, I was really surprised with which of my clips actually got in, caught me a little off guard to my expectations (Party at the Leper Colony was really low on my "expected" list), but was a pleasant surprise. I loved lots of clips, but the longer I've watched it the more I've come to realize that this AMV Hell could only really be fully appreciated with the type of crowd you would get at an Anime Convention. Otherwise, they aren't going to get the mass Internet Memes (Was so sad my meme video wasn't there =,( ) They might not even know what a meme was (Josh complained a great deal that the "Do u liek mudkipz" thing was annoying). And some of the anime are just completely unknown to casual viewer, leaving inside jokes lost. However, if you get all these things, its really really funny.
Which brings me to my one and only personal complaint. Repetitiveness. Even though I thought all of them were funny some jokes were done too much: Any joke about cars. Any joke about guitars. Huruhari concert. Death Note. It would have been better if some of the jokes didn't use some of the exact same clips as each other, which might be a minor detail I just happened to personally pick up, but I saw the Azumanga Daioh wrecked car used about 2 or 3 times.
OVERALL: GREAT. As good as AMV Hell 3? I can't say because I had a personal participation so I was pumped to watch it. My curent feelings are it is overall better than 3 but with less really big stand out clips, it's more of a constant with less ups and downs in the level of funny.

I was about to say about the same sort of thing that you just said, Inferno. Overall, I felt the quality of the videos had jumped, and as others have said, it gets funnier upon repeated viewings. AMV Hell 3 had its unforgettable great moments, but it also had a LOT of stinkers and "oh god, how did that get in?" parts as well, making it very uneven and less funny upon repeated viewings. As you said, though, while the overall quality was higher, the highest spikes of humour in 4 never really got to the level of the highest spikes in 3.
Based on those comparisons, I don't know which one makes a "better" Hell project, or even if it's even fair to say if one or the other was "better" just because of that. But I do have a feeling that part of that is contributing to why several people have been feeling let down by 4 - their expectations were for a video that would be made entirely out of those high spikes from 3, and anything that didn't get close to those expectations would have been a let-down to those people.
Me, I did feel some of that disappointment for those reasons when I watched it. I also agree with the comments everyone else has been making about repetitive jokes/anime (good god, could there have BEEN more Death Note?) But watching it with an open, objective mind (and a readiness to laugh my ass off), I do have to say that I really enjoyed it.
...It also doesn't hurt that I squeed inside a bit to see two of my clips in the project. :) Mine were the "How Do You Spank a Giant Baby?" clip at 26:15, and the Azumanga cats guitar riff meowing at 1:12:59.

I think I have quite an advantage. I haven't seen too much anime, some Haruhi, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, so I don't really ever know what I'm watching. So I can keep my mind free from repitition, I think it made it about 10X funnier for me personally. I loved all the Spirited Away clips (especially your spanking one :) ), the Cowbell Hero, and the penguin ones.
I also haven't seen AMV Hell 3 in a couple months, so it's hard for me to compare the two, another benefit to my lack of time and willing to watch some anime and rewatch other things, hehe.

I'd put it in the same category as Halo 3, actually - Really great and pretty much on par with its predecessors in most parts, but definitely lacking in a number of others, and definitely saddled with too much hype that it fails to live up to.
My only major pet peeve (Aside from the thirty or so seconds of boy-on-boy makeout...well, I guess something has to balance out all the lovely fanservice us guys have gotten over previous projects) was that all the fresh material (shows that hadn't been used before in the Hell series) was kind of pushed to the side by rehashes of the old stuff. The clips from the new shows were pretty much just used because they happened to go along with the music, instead of being real satire on the shows themselves (Hard to really articulate what I'm trying to say; I guess I'd use the Nadia clip as an example of the originality 4 needed more of).
Lastly, a point of confusion: I thought it was supposed to be music-only, and here we have the One Piece guy talking randomly about his chiiiiiiiiild molester ???

i have to admit, i am annoyed by the excess death note, but keep in mind this is the LAST AMV HELL EVER, so i understood that, but take a look at it this way, if zarzrax pulled off a jay-z and came out of retirement to make another one,
imagine all the "bloody" school days bits will be in the next one, if there ever is one

My favorite part was definately the NHK "Afroman" I laughed so hard with that one. Hunter103 did a great job with that one! There were so many great skits though that it was hard to pick a favorite including our very own Yoko but I think everyone did an amazing and phenomenal job. You guys all deserve to be applauded.
Way to go!

watch it 4 or 5 times, it is equal to 3 at that point, the first time I watched it a 3 AM I didn't like it but it has grown on me a lot. so many good things, and it gets better each time you see it, unlike 3. I like the first half better though, and there are way too many death note clips, I don't want to say take them out, because they were all fairly good, but they took their collective quality down. Very good, but too long.
In General, I liked 4th installation even less than 3rd. Because it had even less crazy **** than its predecessor. Both 9/11 and Crikey jokes weren't neither original nor funny. They were trendy. Making fun of 9/11 doesn't make things funny automatically.
I think the first two Hells were the best. As much bad taste as they were, it was very original and creative bad taste. Becoming a huge MEP killed AMV Hell.
But that's just one little bear's opinion.

I'll hold my opinion until I've seen it a few more times, just got back from a double shift at work and am probably too tired to be laughing at it in it's full glory. perhaps tomorrow when I have time and energy to watch it several hundred times
well, i said i'd write more after viewing it a few more times, so here i am... I must say that overall my original opinion has not changed much with repeated viewings. Overall AMVH3:TMP2:AMVH4:TLO was not that funny. While there are a good number of clips (40-50) that were genuinely funny and more (30 or so) that were at least worth a chuckle I still found myself sitting there for long stretches of movie without even a smirk.
I think that the majority of the problem is that just because a song is applicable to an anime doesn't make it funny (Nadia + Lost, Death note, + I'm okay, Death note + heart attack, Excel Saga + Danger Zone, Lucky star + madonna's Lucky star, pokemon + death is a bitch) and that just putting music to an anime doesn't make it funny (haruhi + all star, haruhi + tenacious D, most of the lucky star skits, Kappa Mickey + chicken dance). As well edited as some of these are and their inclusion as excellent works adds to the quality of the overall piece... people watch it far more for the humor value than the quality of the AMV (which would you watch repeatedly, the one that looks terrible but puts you on the floor laughing or the one that looks beautiful but has no point?).
Personally I think there are a number of excellent clips in 4 that i will watch many times but that it is unfortunate that the majority of it that isn't worth watching.

Also, you can't just sit there alone at your computer and expect to get much out of it. 90% of the experience is from watching it with lots of other people.
I do find it funny alone, but it's a lot more funny when you see the look on your friends' faces during Cowbell Hero. In fact, the same goes for comedies everywhere. |:)

I completely second all thing said by Kyon-Kun, the fail is strong in it.
Thirded[I don't know if that's an actual term but what the hell]
I agree with everything said by Kyon-Kun, but I'm disappointed about how many people didn't realize in the credits how Zarx and SSGW made a 5th of the clips used in the final cut. I've seen so many other ideas that could have filled in about 20-30 of those spots. After all, he invited people to send in thier submissions, so why would they take up a 5th of the movie with thier clips? I don't see the logic in that.
BTW Zarx did 18 clips excluding the 2 for the intro.
SSGWNBTD did 26 excluding the 1 ending.

That's what I was thinking...nepotism is a wonderful thing.
I first saw AMV Hell 3 at a friends birthday party... on a video Ipod. It was 11 at night and there were three of us gathered around that thing with a computer speaker plugged into the headphone jack. That experience, among others (none of which were dirty, just so you know), helped make that one of the most fun nights of my life.
About a year and a half later and I'm watching AMV Hell 4, this time under quite different conditions. I've downloaded it to my laptop, so the picture's bigger; i'm in a Mariot hotel room, and instead of friends, I have my snoring parents and grandmother for company (I was gonna watch it the next day, but I just couldn't get to sleep). At first, I was disappointed, though could you blame me given my state? I really was expecting something similar to AMV Hell 3, and this wasen't quite it. The ending was OK, but paled in comparison to Hell 3's "Country Roads" montage. Some parts had me shaking with silent laughter (remember, my folks are asleep no less than 5 feet from me) while others had me stunned, and not in a good way.
All that was last Saturday. Since then, I've taken the opportunity of watching both AMV Hell 3 & 4 back to back, all the while keeping a checklist of AMV quality. In the end, the score was rather surprising:
AMV Hell 3: Great videos-27
Good videos- 107
Fair videos- 76
Bad videos- 12
AMV Hell 4: Great videos- 39
Good videos- 111
Fair videos- 88
Bad videos- 16
See a pattern? A difference of 12 great and fair videos and a difference of 4 good and bad videos. So, given that 4 was about 16 minutes longer than 3, I can safely say that AMV Hell 4 was as good, if not better, than AMV Hell 3. It combined elements of all the previous Hells, including a few videos that would have fit in nicely with Hell 0, for a fantastic farwell of the series. I look forward to watching it again, maybe this time with some friends (none of which will be snoring).
(PS: To those of you freaked out by my calculation methods, I say this: I was really bored and had the time.)

I still don't see the logic. It would be one thing if the total was around 300 videos. But to have over 260 people send around 1,200 submissions and only use 200 is bull**** to me. Also, not to mention how 80% of them sucked.

From the very beginning it has been their project. We are the ones hopping on board here. They are the ones who call the shots. They have every right to have as many of their videos they want. To think otherwise is ridiculous. ??? They could have reverted back to it just being their video and not accepting other pieces from us. They decided to be nice and let us get a shot at it.

What I'm trying to say is that many people's submissions were just thrown out because of all the room they took up. I know it's thiers but that many submissions from two people is crazy. At least if they're going to do that then let someone else who wants to continue the series do it.

It's called Garfield and friends because the show is about Garfield and his friends.
Jason and the Argonauts is about Jason and his Argonauts
Scooby Doo is about scooby and 5 kids who go around helping him, they aren't important enough to be put into the title.
It is their project were just the friends to their garfield, or they are the main characters we just stand around in the background appearing a couple of times.
Clips were thrown because they failed hardcore, and this list was used to weed them out.
I've decided not to update the list until we get a more finalized idea of what will be in the project. No need to get people's hopes up. In the meantime, I present you with this worksheet which can be used to calculate exactly how hard your video fails it.
AMV Hell 4 Crap Quotient Calculation Worksheet
Add 1 point for each box you mark, then divide by Pi. The higher your score, the less likely that your video will appear in the project. If your score is greater than 1, there is probably no hope at all.
[ ] You didn't read the rules before submitting your video.
[ ] You used uncompressed video, instead of at least compressing to HuffYUV.
[ ] You didn't convert your song to WAV before importing it into your editing software.

[ ] ...in a previous AMV Hell.
[ ] You used downloaded footage...
[ ] ...That was captured from tv...
[ ] ...and had a network logo on it.
[ ] Your footage had subtitles...
[ ] ...and you tried to crop them off...
[ ] ...and missed.
[ ] Your video was in WMV format...
[ ] ...before you converted it to AVI.
[ ] Your footage was captured from boochsack...
[ ] ...using screen recording software...

As was said, it's our project, so of course we are going to add our videos in it. I would like to add though, that our videos didn't knock any others out of the running. There was not really a set limit of videos that could be in the project, videos simply had to meet some level of expectation by us. If we liked it, it went in, simple as that. Me and SSGWNBTD also left some of our own videos out of the project... because they sucked. Even we aren't above creating things that suck.
There were a few other people who had quite a few videos in the project. It just happens that they sent us a lot of videos, and we liked a lot of their videos. In fact, I think in hell 3, Kitsuner had more videos than any of us, and I had never even heard of the guy at the time.
The truth is, most of those entries we got sucked hard. Most of them were in WMV format, and I had a freaking flashing warning on the uploads page saying that I wouldn't even watch those. I did actually watch them, just to give them a fair chance though.

Well, maybe Gundam just isn't funny-material, you know?
At the end of the day, AMV Hell is Zarx's and SSG's brand and they can do with it what they want. The fact is that no matter how many imitators come along, this will always be the best and the most definitive of, as they put it, the "genre itself".
Maybe instead of trying to imitate AMVH, people can try and go somewhere new with their short, multi-clip projects. Purplepolecat and I have been tossing around ideas for a joint clipfest for a while and now we'll have buckets of stuff for it (thanks to the rejects from this project along with the fact that apparently my brain likes to edit in this format so now I have a jillion more ideas).
Anyway, instead of everybody carping about AMVH not continuing---come up with your own watershed idea.
Thought 4 was crappier than 3? Then prove what an amazing sense of humour you have and put together your own set of continuous lol clips. For an hour and a half.
Then come talk about how stuff annoys you.

Fair enough. The problem with this whole thing (not just your beef about it but everybody's) is that humour is a COMPLETELY subjective thing. There is nothing that is universally funny---except maybe other people laughing. Everybody laughs at that.
Were there clips in 4 (and in 3, too) that I thought weren't funny? Absolutely. But people have named some of them as their favourites and I'm like wtf? Subjectivity.
Hell, even in my own submissions, I expected "Drives Like Crazy" to go down the garbage chute and I was *sure* two of my other clips were shoe-ins, based on my sense of humour and my gauge of AMVH3. And boy, was I wrong.
At the end of the day, your Gundam clips didn't make the guys laugh, and they were the gods to appease in this situation. I wouldn't have wanted them to throw in something that wasn't funny simply so that the anime could be represented. That to me is *worse* than "overusing" a particular show.

Not agreeing with ZZMaxX exactly, but I will confess that my only disappointment with AMV Hell 4 was the fact that so many clips were from popular animes (D-N, Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, Naruto, DBZ, One-Piece) and not so many from older and/or little-known shows. As much as he misses Gundam, I sorta wish some of my oddball favorites--like Tsukikage Ran or Rune Soldier--had made an appearance.
But you don't hear me complaining about the 7 or so Excel Sagas, of course, 'cause that's one of my favorites. Which is what it all boils down to--popular animes had tons more submissions because tons more people own and love them.
(And I'll even admit that for the very first time, I'm considering watching Naruto after seeing all the clips.)
When I first saw AMV Hell 3, though, I hadn't been watching much anime yet. So half the clips were interesting new programs I might want to check out.
Now, of course, I've seen enough anime to recognize almost all the one I'd actually want to see. I think there were only about three or four anime in AMV Hell 4 that I was really curious about, and none that I feel compelled to hunt down particularly.
I think a fun idea might be to make something like AMV Hell sometime, but to only allow obscure anime....sort of an eclectic's comedy video.

Did you not read my earlier posts? A lot of people are saying that about AMV Hell 4. I don't see you bitching at them. Seriously, GET LOST!
Anyway, I just wanted to know if he watched them or just threw them away because of the deadline. I knew my clips had a very slim chance of making it in. After all, I submitted my stuff about 1 hour from the deadline.

Yes, I watched your clips. I didn't really get them. They didn't seem to make any kind of sense. Sorry.

It's alright. The Shinn clip was making fun of how loud he screamed and how you could hear it over the combat.

For me AMV Hell 4 was more "Wow that was really well thought out" more than "hahaha that's funny". There were some I laughed at sure, and in the beginning of the AMV Hell series I could feel that the main point was to laugh. I think that with this AMV Hell 4 there is no question of the massive talent everyone has but how not funny most of the clips were for me. So I saw it as more of a proving grounds than something to laugh at.
If you look at it like that, then you could say "AMV Hell 4" was laying the groundwork for future amv compelations. The artists making amvs now could soon have their own website (though it'll take alot of work, I'd imagine). I look forward to seening future greatness from the AMV Hell alumni.

I didn't like it. AMVHell 4 is the worst one so far (Yes, even 0 was better than this one). I got moust of the jokes and still I didn't find it funny. Honestly they were some good clips, but most of them were bad. They should really make another one and end it on a high note.

I couldn't help but notice that this was your first post as a member of the AMV Hell community, yet you seem to be well versed in the films (you'd have to be to watch 0 all the way through). I find it disheartening that you'd use your first post just to diss AMV Hell 4. Granted, you're not the first to have issues with it: even I was somewhat let down after my first viewing. Still, it grew on me the more I watched it, so I hope you will give it another chance too. And If you are still dissatisfied, just take it as incentive to go out and make your own AMV.

I didn't understand a lot of the jokes the first ten times i watched 4... then I discovered Death Note. Everything is now Claritin clear.

funny thing is pretty much the same thing happened to me. I submitted an hour before the deadline (and yet the ftp closed before they finished uploading). what really surprised me was what actually made it in.I thought some of my other ones were funny and and better than the one I got to get in. especially since I made it at the last minute. seriously like an hour to an hour and a half before the deadline.
I would've added a skit with dramactic chipmunk but couldn't figure a proper anime source...and i kinda figured someone would've done it already...
yet, seeing mine in there in the first place was enough for me flip out and not care...
yep first post. Sadly, I didn't know these forums existed until they locked down the hell 4 thread on the org. otherwise I might have registered a while ago.
