I just think they felt like they needed to vent their slight disappointment somehow....
XP
I also think that AMV Hell 4 somehow didn't seem to cater to as large an audience.

2nded,AMVH4 just had random clips with completly senseless and stupid songs not even matching the pictures [not all of them, but about 90%]. Also the clips werent placed very well in compasion to AMVH3 and there was nothing as funny as osaka or w/e. Eihter way AMVH4 holds a huge amount of failure and wasnt even worth the time i wasted on F5ing the page.

[And yeah i know everyone worked hard and you dont want to hear my bitching, but working hard doesnt automaticaly mean getting good results.]

Very true, AMV Hell 4 had just too much AMV and not enough Hell. Most of the clips would've been probably good if they hadn't continued for far too long. But most weren't even funny at all. When it was being made, I remember reading something like "If the song is about roses, don't just put clip on roses on background, it's not funny". Still clips like that got accepted in, Grenadier "You Spin Me Right Around", anyone?
What made it even worse is that some clips used parts and music from previous AMV Hells, and many clips had used same part of some show, like let's say... Haruhi?
And dear god, why was there so much Death Note? Every clip was pretty much the same, the show has incredible potential for being funny, but none of the clips really succeeded at anything. Best parts came from One Piece. There, I said it, even though the whole show is set for failure, the parts from it very used so cleverly that it was made funny.
Also, there really wasn't much variety. Most of the stuff was from Azumanga and Death Note. Gurren Lagann came out whole week before Lucky Star, and there was no clips of it there? What the hell.
AMV Hell 4 wasn't nearly as approachable as 3, it had too many inside jokes(Evangelion part? And that wasn't even funny), and had too much emphasis on music than randomness.

AMV Hell 4 wasn't downright bad, but definitely below average. There was some very funny parts, but they were too far and between to save the thing. Failure.

But AMV Hell 4 was worth watching I think.

I'm confused, were you expecting satan to come out of your computer screen, shove a pinapple up your ass, then put you through your own personal hell for the time that would be 1 hour and 30 mins of your life?

It is called an AMV for a reason. A-Anime (or animated) M- Music V-Video.
AMV HELL 4 stuck truer to the AMV part, I get that, but really, if it didn't have the music in there it couldn't really be called an AMV, it would be more along the lines of ASV- Anime Sound Video.

AMV HELL 4 Was awesome, I would put it at the same level of 3 because in a sense they are 2 parts of the same AMV, one holding more of one thing then the other, but in a sense equal. AMV HELL 4 is only worse in your minds, because you expected another 3, if it was another AMV HELL 3, you would be complaining how it was not superior to 3 because it tried to do the same thing 3 did. In the end, people are going to complain about 4 because of one thing or another, mainly cause they are cranky because it was the last one. Get over it, and have a good day.

Most of the stuff was from Azumanga

WRONG!

There were more Azumanga Daioh AMVs in AMVH3 (even if the Osaka Cutaways are not included). However, I do agree that there was to much of the same Death Note clip.

You could make a five-minute video of the Azumanga AMVs from AMVH3 (I know because there is one). AMVH4 Azumanga clips would be lucky to break two minutes.

Only in our minds, eh? Isn't that what makes something funny? The way in which our minds perceive it? AMV Hell can't tickle us with a feather, so it has to rely on the mental aspect of humor to be funny. If it wasn't as funny in our minds, then, well, it wasn't as funny.

I'll try to put some kind of measurement on it. While watching AMV Hell 3, I actually had to pause it repeatedly so I could proceed to laugh my ass off without missing anything. Took me well over two hours to finish watching it, I kid you not. And while I've needed to pause it substantially less in subsequent watches, I still find it downright hilarious, so it's not like I've gotten bored of it.

AMV Hell 4 just seems to have a different style altogether. Most of the videos relied on absolute, pure randomness to be funny. Random can be funny, but it's gotta be done right. That was not done right. A lot of the songs and sound clips just didn't make any sense at all with the animes. It was nearly an hour and a half of, "Umm... okay, WTF?" I believe I found a maximum of five clips to be truly funny. The only times I paused were to look up songs - something I normally save for the second or third viewing of an AMV Hell.

However, I will say this. The ending credits? Win. By far the best part (and I don't mean because it was the end, I mean because it was funny).

From what you are saying, it sounds like you just don't get many of the clips. AMV Hell 3 actually had a lot of clips that relied on pure randomness (a fieeeelllld trip, a fiiiiieelllllld trip), but with AMV Hell 4, I can honestly only think of 1 or 2 off the top of my head that were really just random. Nearly every clip in Hell 4 had a clear joke that it was trying to get across. Not all of them are blatantly obvious though.

I'd say a lot of the jokes in AMV Hell 4 were mostly for the superfans of the anime in question. I hadn't seen much at all of Death Note, Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, Haruhi, Hellsing, or One-Piece. On the flip side, the friends I watched it with didn't understand any of the Evangelion clips because they hadn't seen it, while I had. It seems 3 was specifically tailored to us casual anime fans, while 4 was centered around the cutting-edge otaku.

Then again, maybe I'm just not getting the point ???

Or maybe CORN

But still this was a bit of a dissapointment there are a few good ones but most were either not funny or simular clips from 3 and why were there clips simular to 3? Because this one was supposed to be another AMV Hell 3, and what do you know, you get not as good as 3.

This would have been good if there were some kind of twist to it (like AMV 0's sickness and AMV Hell CE's contst) maybe if there was another twist it would of been interesting
