actually the latest chapters are pretty ****ing epic, what everyone hates is all the filler in the anime

I don't like the newest chapters in the manga. If Masashi Kishimoto knew how to kill of characters, it would be epic. I thought what he did with the Pain Invasion Arc was cool, but he decided to revive the characters who died, thus proving his issue with killing off characters. He had a chance to make something good, but he decided to add more depth as the story continued, which revealed his horrible writting pattern on many separate occasions. Not to mention that most of the protagonists have plot armour. Naruto has made a Dragon Ball mistake by reviving the villians. It was, and still is, obvious that the villians will be killed off by these secondary characters, with little to no casualties, in less than half of the chapters it took to kill the villian the first time. If he had did what he did in the Zabuza Arc, the show would be great, but he decided to make a plot that is too big for him too handle.

I agree with how annoying it is to not kill off enough characters, but honestly with the Pain arc I think he went overboard and wrote himself into a corner: The huge mistake he made was killing Kakashi, whom he needed alive for the sake of the story, keep in mind that Jaraiya got to stay dead so that's at least one good thing I suppose. In truth I like this arc, keep in mind that all the resurrected ninja are going to have die one way or another and this is a great opportunity to force all the heroes to face a good deal of emotional turmoil. Besides I think you're missing the point, if you want a good well written story that doesn't make all these kinds of mistakes then you had unrealistic expectations from the start: This is just another shounen manga they're big and dumb but epic and fun to read in their own right.
