I have been stuck doing the best I can with WMM for 2 years and I think its about damn time I upgrade. What alternatives do I have that would cost me less than 100 dollars or preferable NOTHING

Sony Vegas is your best bet. Or an Adobe program like After Effects or Premier. Vegas is a much easier program to use, but Adobe has better effects and more depth. I've been using Vegas for 2 years and love it.

I run Sony Vegas 8 on my netbook. Runs OK. I do simple editing there, smaller renders, clip conversion.
