Ok, I have never actually watched Gundam (waits for people with shot guns, pitchforks, torches, and nooses). But I've been looking into watching it, but there are so many series that its daunting, as it started in the 70's. I thought of watching from the start, but that seemed like way too much of a challenge.

So, I ask you. What is the best series to start with, and then where to proceed from there?

Gundam Wing is definitely the best, I'd start with that and then you decide :P

tbh I haven't watched any other Gundam series than Gundam Wing ;w;
...and I haven't even seen all of it yet XD

gundam wing which is set in an alternate timeline compared to most of the gundam series.

Gundam 00, if you do decide to watch it just make sure you watch the scenes after the credits too or you'll never understand what's going on

Also you could Watch Gundam Unicorn, it's set in the universal centuarylike the first gundam series but only about 2 episodes come out a year

If you want realistic: 8th MS Team
If you want girls with big boobs: Gundam 00
If you want classic original Gundam: Mobile suit Gundam 0079
Good compromise: Gundam Seed

Turn-A Gundam is a fantastic and underrated G series.

The original seventies Mobile Suit Gundam. Looks and feels like something created in the seventies. Runs like a HBO drama with an unusually high bodycount.

Or Turn-A, if only for the music. (It's Anne of Green Gables IN SPACE!)

Or Victory, for some of the most utterly warped **** you'll ever see in the franchise.
