Hello again everyone. I know i've been off a while, but my desk top computer decided to die on me and between job hunting and moving i just wasn't able to find the time to fix it till just a couple days ago. Obviously i'm back now. Watched through several older anime again. Code Geass, Gun Grave, Digimon (seasons 1 &2). I've officially replaced Eva as my number 1 anime with Code Geass.

Which do you think is the fail? Eva at #1 or Geass being better?

NGA was more origional than Geass.
NGA was deeper than Geass.
Geass had some good mechs.
NGA had amazing mechs.
Geass had more mech fights.
Geass had less kiddy drama.
NGA had better mech fights.
Geass and NGA had some magical or mysterious thing-a-ma-bob.

I liked NGA a bit more than Geass. In terms of story, Geass is better, but in terms of mechs and mech action, NGA was better. Both aren't the best mech shows, though.

That's pretty straight forward. And i do agree for most if not all of those. Geass being less original? yeah they reuse some plot points from other anime. Easiest to point out would be the whole reunification of souls that Charles and Marriane were going for. Obviously a slight twist from NGE and yeah the mech idea wasn't original either. But the reason Geass surpassed Eva (NGE) in my mind is because it's by far the best balance i've ever seen in an anime. Most either slap you in the face and hope you understand it, NGE, or take a million episodes or chapters to explain a hand shake, Naruto. Geass on the other hand explains everything swiftly and in an understandable manner. Plus it mixes the battles with the strategy instead of over doing one or the other.

Watch episode 1 of Geass

Watch episode 1 of One Piece, Azumanga Diaoh, Chobits, Death Note or hell, even Gurren Lagann.

Try to ask yourself questions throughout the episode of any of the suggestions and do the same for Geass. The other listed shows are great examples of explaining everything swiftly. Geass, not so much. Compared to Eva it is pretty much the same speed.

And that comment about battles and strategy, I am about to sound like a fool here but here it goes...It's a show not a video game. Whats strategy got to do with anything?

I guess it comes to preference with the strategy thing. as far as explanation though. Geass has a LOT more to explain than the ones you listed and if you want to restrict it to ONE episode you can't chose episode one, since it's primary goal is to leave you guessing and wanting more and come on. You can't compare it to Eva episode 1 cause the first two episodes of Evangelion are INFAMOUS for how slow moving they are and how little they explain. Ask anyone who decided NOT to watch Eva why and unless they were warned off they'll tell you it was because of episode 1 and 2. Geass on the other hand grips you and makes you want more. one piece? This you'll think is blasphemy, but in my honest opinion. One piece is the worst Anime EVER made. Not because of story specifically, cause i don't know **** about its story, but because of artistry. The one piece clips in AMV Hell ALWAYS make me consider skipping or just not watching hell all together.
