Ok I jut checked it out and while the theme is final fantasy, that just means people are encouraged to make final fantasy related amvs.
But you can still submit videos that aren't related to FF.
So I suppose it's not as restrictive as I first thought.
Although they would like people to try and stick with the theme.

Don't we already have a lot of trouble already just finding clips that come from the enormous pile of anime series? I mean, there are barely 13 or 14 from the Final Fantasy franchise, yet it's already hard to put up in the Minis 5 decent minutes of clips coming from the thousands of different anime series?

Not everybody is going to get the idea to read through the thread just to find a small exchange of words to get some important information when you should be getting all the information you need from the first post, which still brings it down to raging because of your own faults.

bah ssgwnbtd is a colossal moron and pretty much has been for as long as I can remember, sure he's done some good work but that only shows that he's not inept: Not that he's not stupid. AMVHell, jumped the shark after 4 was finished and pretty much everything after that was made of mediocre and bad clips with really good clips inserted sporadically. I know I've said this before but sometimes you have to let a good thing die before it becomes a bad thing; still you often can't convince people to not do stupid things, like trying to resuscitate a decaying corpse.

I'm glad another Hell is happening. I like AMV Hell 5 more than a lot of people seem to have (and more than 4, in fact), and I'm hoping for more of that. I'm skeptical about the "theme", but then again, 5 was "dedicated to Dio", and there was only a single clip using a Dio song. So maybe it won't be overwhelming. Can't say I'm as excited about Final Fantasy (since I don't really play video games), but again...it's great procrastination material.

Well they did announced being done about a 3 months ago prior on their twitter page. They even gave it a release date I believe I read, don't know if they changed it somewhere on December 26 2012. Like I said it was 3 months prior since I read this but they are discussing still on there:

I'm a little late to the party on this since I wasn't around when this was brought it.

I am with the people who are disappointed by the FF only theme.

It will HUGELY limit what videos can be made from, what Advent Children, that other FF movie (Can't remember the name) And footage from the last 4-5 FF Games? Only cutscenes or actual gameplay? either way I think it's throwing a huge limit on what can be made.

Firstly you will need people who have played FF Games or seen the movie. Also it's going to be harder to get the video footage from the games than it would be to get the anime like normal.

Also you're limiting your audience, yes Final Fantasy is a very popular game series, but there are plenty of people who don't care for it or don't play it. So you'll end up with a lot of jokes that go totally missed if the non-FF fans even bother watching.

The "A" in AMV is suppose to be anime, and I think it ought to be kept that way. Doing FF only is kind of catering to a specific crowd in my opinion which is a little extreme for one of the main series. I also think it's gonna be hard finding enough good clips to do a full-length video.

I think the FF-theme would work better as a mini episode.

I liked how AMV Hell 5 came out, but I don't really have high hopes for an FF-themed AMV Hell 6.

No matter how popular something is, there are always just as many people who don't like it. Just look at DBZ, Deathnote, Naruto, Bleach or anything else that becomes extremely popular. Yes a lot of people will worship it and say it's the best ever, but just as many will hate it and want nothing to do with it.

It's kinda putting all your eggs in one basket to do a full-length FF-based video. Sure the FF fans will probably be thrilled, but the ones who aren't might not even bother to watch it.

I agree that a FF theme is a bad idea and I would have little interest in watching it. I am a former FF fan, I still love FFIX, but as has already been stated, where will contributors find enough clips?

There are a few fantasy-themed animes that could be used in place of FF footage but at the end of the day, it's gonna amount to a lot of repetition and mediocre clips.
