This project will run concurrently with AMV Hell 6: Final Fantasy Hell. The theme of this project is the end of the entire Universe in December 2012 foretold by the Maya.

Your video doesn't have to directly reference Armageddon, Ragnarok, The End of the World, The Rapture, The End of Time or The End of the Universe, but it would help its chances of being accepted.

After some reconsideration of Otakon's parody block deadline for 2012, the deadline to submit a video for AMV Hell 6 is April 30, 2012.

Well I thought the Azumanga Daioh Minis episode did it pretty well, and that was just with one show. This includes everything, and sounds like it will be filled with death and destruction. Woo

I think it will work well enough. This guy knows what hes doing. I was iffy about a minis episode with 7 second clips working, but it came through exceeding my expectations. I hope this Western one will be the same result. But I'm sure Hell #6 will be yet another hit.

You know, tere aren't too many anime series or movies that depict broken worlds or "post-invasion" Earth or the end of the world.
High School of the Dead, Kurogane Communication, RahXephon (maybe), Wolf's Rain, Evangelion (inevitably), Cowboy Bebop (though it doesn't dwell on it) Akira, Angel's Egg, Metropolis, Fist of the North Star and anything related to that, Nadesico....there really aren't that many that I know of. Not to mention, High School of the Dead is the only Zombacolypse one I'm familiar with. I guess the Japanese like to believe that their world is staying put, and staying free of the undead?

(Well, there's Dragon Ball Z, where the whole world gets blown up and everybody dies at least 3 times, but no show that has Dragon Balls really has an "end of the world").

Digressing,
Laputa: Castle in the Sky (along with Metropolis) has some fantastic scenes of crumbling cities and dramatic destruction that would be perfect for an apocalypse AMV Hell.

Also, I can see this leading to a lot of mecha. Which wouldn't be bad at all, as long as people sharpen their lip-synching skills and don't just rehash videos from AMV Hell 3.

Digimon has a few moments of Apocalypse:

First Season: The Digital World and the human World nearly merging (YOU CAN SEE THE DIGITAL WORLD IN THE SKY!) and of course Apocalymon.

Second Season: Blackwargreymon nearly destroying the Digital World, BelialVamdemon infesting ze world with DARKNESSSS!!!!

Third Season: D-Reaper. Full Stop.

Fourth Season: The Royal Knights Devouring the Digital World, and Lucemon.

Fifth Season: The worlds almost merging, Kurata going Genocide on Digimon.

Sixth Season: Havn't Seen it, but it probably will go that route considering how "Beyond the impossible" it's becoming.

yeah, cause that solves the issue, their still using bloody evangelion, which limits themselves. honestly, evangelion is like a bullet in the foot to any evangelion fan, but then its like a bullet to the head to a non fan as we are all sick and tired of clips. I personally now hate the show despite reading the manga once and being vaguely interested.

as for death note clips, I mean I watch death note randomness, so I guess no amv hell will compare to that in clips. but I really don't think deathnote would fall in as a "big 3", which I'm still convinced is the actually "family guy, azumanga, evangelion"

Bumping this because more participants means more quality. It's not really possible to weed out sh!t if there's not enough admissions. There fore also ideas about banning certain series would not be possible.

...but that doesn't mean I support banning any series. Sure, there's been a lot Evangelion, a lot Lucky Star, a lot Haruhi, a lot Death Note... that doesn't mean they all suck. Actually, I've liked those ones. Instead, I've hated pretty much every clip that has Pokemon, Bleach, Naruto or Dragon Ball in them. Personal preferences vary.

The only way it's up the funny/wrong factor is if there's more participation or better quality participation. Possibilities to affect the latter are very limited as we can't tell editors what is funny. Unexpectedness and inspiration cannot be taught.

Since it'll be shown on Otakon parody block, I guess this means "not R-rated" (i.e no explicit pornography). Any other non-acceptable content? Swastika? Hate speech? Holocaust glorification? Cats burned alive (with of without Doom music)?

AMV Hell 5 wasn't too good. It lacked morally unacceptable content which I've grown addicted to. I'll try to submit some of such into this project if it only is allowed material. I cannot guarantee that everything is funny, though. Of course you can't make a compilation with only black comedy. Darker than black comedy has the best effect them coupled with innocent randomness.

Then to technical aspects:
codec: is h.264 OK, or should I make B-frameless XviD export for better frame-accuracy?
resolution: is there a specific resolution the submitted file should have?
duration: 30 seconds or less? Or something else? (Obviously, aiming at 29 seconds doesn't make it any better but usually adverse.)

I have ideas for something AMV Hell style randomness. If I am to add anything to it, it will be either political incorrectness (nazis, ******s, jews, dead puppies, etc.) or grotesque. Latter doesn't fit non-R AMV Hell and even my incorrect ones might be a bit too much for children.

Currently I have ideas for
4 clips having [idea X] as driving factor. Recurring, individually very short. Slightly different perspectives to same idea
Holocaust/lolocaust/lolicaust with (un)fitting music
Imperial Japan, Nazi Super Science, and Finnish Master Race destroying Russia with Severed ****s (feat Nuclear Holocaust)

I just counted I have 18 ideas already written down. Something I thought of editing and releasing separately but could be shortened to 5...30 second length to fit AMV Hell. At least there's something good about me not being very productive lately and merely having written down the ideas without making them into a video. I've got more concepts written down than I might have time to edit into video... especially those ones that require me to install FRAPS or other video capture software since some of my ideas are hybrid while some others require frame-by-frame photoshopping. They censored non-pornographic stuff just because of racism/nine-eleven/double_entendre? Ah, THAT must be the reason why AMV Hell 5 sucked. Censoring all the best stuff.

We need AMV Hell Absolute Zero aka AMV Hell Minus 273.15: The Place Where Ivans Go After They Die, if it's not done officially, I'd try to make one myself. If SSG is going to reject politically incorrect entries, I hope they are to be preserved for future "zero series" so the best ones don't go to waste.

It wasn't totally bad. It's Pokemon and Naruto clips were much better than Pokemon and Naruto clips of previous AMV Hells. That's a huge improvement from "stupid and unfunny" to something "ok but not memorable". Ok, most AMV Hell is stupid but they're ingenious in their stupidity and therefore unmeasurably funny on various levels.

AMV Hell 5 didn't have more bad clips than the previous AMV Hells. The problem was, it played so safe even the best clips aren't memorable. Nothing was so epic that I would remember it. It was like watching a constant stream of medium fun jokes scroll in front of you. Nothing that makes you cringe, whether it's from discomfort or from attempts to hold in laughter.

I don't know how much censorship has reduced average quality of jokes, but it certainly has weeded out the best of the bunch.

I wonder how Otakon censor people react to non-graphical, implied violence, implied rape surprise sex, implied atrocities, mass destruction and death, etc. Because you can't make a video about "Armageddon, Ragnarok, The End of the World, The Rapture, The End of Time or The End of the Universe" without them.

Racist remarks seem to be iffy. You can hear the "n" word in an AMV Hell CE clip (Carcaptor Sakura/Boyz in the Hood) as well as in the Code Geass/Boondocks clip in AMV Hell 5. However, there seems to be a line between the word being used in dialogue passingly and it being used as an epithet.....the clips in 0 and /0 that contain the word feature a person pointing at another person and calling them "n*****"!, and that's apparently enough to get a clip relegated to a "bad stuff" video.

As for violence, CE could get away with showing Nana's arms being chopped off, and 4 got away with showing a rabbit get a headshot (a bloody one at that). But somehow, I don't think that you could get away with showing, say, the characters from GANTZ having their heads blown to pieces (since you can see pieces of flesh and drops of blood fly into people's faces).

I suppose just try and see......

It's always seemed to me that the ideal practice you should have when making a series is to stop before you end up just making ****. We haven't gotten quite that far yet but quality has been dropping.

I'm just a forum troll, but: There are many other shows that include scenes or themes of world-ending, even bishoujo-game-based ones like Clannad. Sure it's easy to go for the anime whose entire basis is the end of the world, but it would be both funny and interesting to use presumably cutesy/girly anime instead, wouldn't it? Kanon has phantoms attacking a school ball, Clannad has the lifeless dreamworld, Angel Beats! likely has tons of good scenes (the loss of the underground workshop), School Rumble has kids in a cave scenes that could be matched to some survival show's/movie's dialogue, one could put short clips from many and put it to the dialogue of Ghostbusters ("Dogs and cats living together, MASS HYSTERIA!"), or you could put cutesy songs/dialogue to the serious world-ending anime like Blue Gender (only thing I could think of that hasn't been done a thousand times, which I also happen to be watching at the moment...)

I like the idea of the theme. I thought 5 was absolutely hilarious, and all the Dio jokes didn't get old to me, I thought it great how the jokes kept coming. The only joke that started grating on my nerves was the Always I Wanna Be With You ones... but I guess they were appropriate, what with that game's surge of popularity and everything...

AMVHELL is one of the first things I was introduced to after starting to watch anime in college, and I loved it. 3 was great. 4 was even better. Both of them gave me tons of anime to watch. Obviously I didn't get a lot of in-jokes about some anime because I'd never seen them, but I still laughed because most of it is self-evident in the amv. 5 was as good or even better than what had come before, in my opinion as a Viewer. I could point out an amv here and there whose humor ran thin, but as a whole, the AMVHELLs have only gotten better. Keep it up!

The bands name itself is pretty thematic for Hell 6. You know, with Styx being a river in Greek mythology that leads the death to the Underworld(aka Hell). The credits would essentially be depicting this process. The animes that died going to Hell.

To elaborate
This song would be used in the credits to show the aftermath of the apocalypse with characters dying and their lives flashing before them. Just read them lyrics.

You can already see how Eva will be pretty fitting. Anyway, id say just focus on using anime from previous Hells or if you can make it work just from Hell 1.

This would make Hell 6 a prequel to all the other AMV Hells. For Hell 7 you can call it reincarnation/purgatory or something, i dunno.
