Half the time they're trying to put viruses on my computer. Kaspersky does an excellent job of blocking them, but people with lesser protection could face some problems. Why is this happening all of a sudden? Also I know it's the ones on top of the page because the ads there get replaced with a "virus blocked" notice.

Apparently you didn't read my "127 attacks" comment -_- even if these are weak virus's there is still the chance one or two will slip thru a crack and get in (there are virus's designed to bypass certain protection software which is why you should have 2 virus scanners on your pc) Hell some users probably have a couple of harmless Trojan right now. Adsense is not an option. They wont accept my site, and I can't get them to give me a reason why.

Hey, Zarx I would recommend checking out this article on alternatives to google adsense.
http://www.rosswalker.co.uk/adsense_top10/
Also as you already know different advertising networks will work better for some websites than others so just keep doing what you're doing and experiment.
That's very strange google didn't give you a reason for rejecting your application
Have you tried contacting them?
Did you have ads on the site already when you sent in your application?
Because they have policies regarding other ads on your website.
The only other reason I can think of is maybe they see amvs as infringing copyright.
I'm not sure if a disclaimer might be helpful...

plus the site possibly violates other requirements, not saying that they do but google probably sees otherwise.
Sites with Google ads may not include or link to:
-Pornography, adult or mature content.... Well there some softcore content here, Links to 0 & /0
-Violent content.... Theres quite a bit of that, probably all backmasks posts XD
-Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
-Excessive profanity.... This is a long shot but I think it has to do with the URL
-Hacking/cracking content... its here somewhere
-Gambling or casino-related content
-Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content
-Sales of beer or hard alcohol
-Sales of tobacco or tobacco-related products
-Sales of prescription drugs.... PILL"S HERE!!!
-Sales of weapons or ammunition (e.g. firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns)
-Sales of products that are replicas or imitations of designer or other goods
-Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
-Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites or reading emails
-Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others... Im sure theres something in the forums containing this.

I can't imagine Hell would be considered profanity.
It's on the disney channel and radio.

I still think it has to do with copyright.
Or ad conflicts.

I can't imagine Hell would be considered
Its not hell just on the site its the fact its IN the URL which is a bigger consideration than whats actually on the site itself and is checked first thing when signing up. Google doesnt have the time to check the site's content right off the bat to deny you usage of adsense when signing up that usually comes later so getting denied right off the bat pretty much points fingers at the URL.
EDIT: yea its on the disney channel but the disney channel's URL isnt "thedisneychannelhell.com" which in my eyes would be more suitable XD

I'm not sure what the exact traffic is on this site but you can check these out to see what you think and if you're eligible.
I think video game ads would be popular on this site so here's the top 2 safe choices I know of.

Every other forum website I know of has one.
I know you probably don't like to be to strict but outlining things that should obviously not be allowed is still a good idea so that everyone knows that the site is actually content moderated.
Here's some obvious rules:
1. No guro (At leat I don't wanna see that here)
2. No explicit pornagraphy (I didn't think you allowed this anyways)
3. No nude loli (I'm seeing this being banned from more and more websites)
(Although it's important to note it's usually because it's against the Agreements made with many advertisers)
There may be more depending on what you want to allow.

Isn't there already kind of an unspoken law about that, anyway? I mean, most people don't post explicity pornographic things unless it's only a link... at least, as far as I can tell....

I don't think a link would ever be a problem.
True, there are unspoken rules around here.
But from the perspective of the advertiser this site looks like a "rule-less" forum.
[allowing everything, which they wouldn't like]
But those rules need to be outlined in a sticky.
I wouldn't imagine it would change anything/much as far as what we can post.
I would think it would just be putting into words what we already know for the advertisers sake.
But I'm surprised there isn't a rules section already.
It's hard to find a forum without rules, and there's a reason why.

I have received a message from Adbrite concerning the content of the site. This is what they said:
I've approved the two zones but you will need to do some moderation of the forums. We don't allow adult or mature content or excessive profanity. Under this policy your threads should not have prominent profanity that isn't censored, and the sexual discussions are not allowed. We did some simple searches for profane and adult terms, like s**t and porn, and it returned a large number of results.
The site was declined due to references to ****bear on the thread below. We find that forums containing this meme have a high rate of inappropriate discussions involving minors. In addition our advertisers do not want to be on sites containing jokes about this subject. If we see a representation of ****bear we will decline the site.
http://amvhell.com/showthread.php?t=2449
As you can see, they have a problem with a few of the thread on this site. Now the issue is, what to do about it? I'll be thinking carefully about this over the next few days, and there will possibly be some changes coming soon in response to this issue.

I have received a message from Adbrite concerning the content of the site. This is what they said:
As you can see, they have a problem with a few of the thread on this site. Now the issue is, what to do about it? I'll be thinking carefully about this over the next few days, and there will possibly be some changes coming soon in response to this issue.
Admittedly, that's hilarious.

The site was declined due to references to ****bear on the thread below
I'll be thinking carefully about this over the next few days
Why don't just simply distord keywords? Lets change ****bear into paeadobear and search will no longer be able to find it :D
The same for other keywords:
loli -> lolli
sex -> sux
**** -> cook
boobs -> hooters
porn -> pron
pony -> prony
evileel -> goodneseel

Do whatever you need to.
The only thread about sex I can think of is the 4 words you shouldn't say during sex thread.
I don't think it would be all that missed.
And I think it's a fair and simple enough request to ask everyone not use foul language when creating a thread title.
These request made by adbrite are common agreements made.
And if you hope to bring in a decent amount of money to support the site then these are the requirements of pairing your site with a good ad company.
In my opinion it's a small price to pay.
I know I'll be understanding if you decide to add a few rules for the sake of keeping the site alive and running.
And I hope everyone else will be as well.
PS Also this would likely open the door for you to check out adsense if you ever wanted to.

I have added a censorship plugin to the forum. It just censors some of the most explicit words, and also the word "****". It is DISABLED for registered users, but if you would like to enable the censorship for your account, you can do so in the user profile options.
I am also considering making the off-topic forum restricted to members only. Does anyone have a problem with that?

Yes I have a problem with that, I call for a funny word filter like 4chan has, or no censorship at all. Besides, advertisement groups should want amvhell.com badly enough to change their rules, not the other way around.

After that happens, several sites will have little financial problems for quite a while.

The web hosting is close to $300/year. Which isn't really a LOT in the grand scheme of things, but its still more than I would want to fork over out of my own pocket.
Also, If I ever want to upgrade the forum software to the new vBulletin, that's almost another $300.

This is the only site on the internet I actually would donate to.
If the ads are covering the expenses and you don't feel like setting it up then that's fine.
But if you do decide to set up a donation then you might want to consider small incentives to donate.
kinda like AnimeMusicVideos.org.
Even something small like giving people a donator or contributor status or title.
You never know, you might be surprised at the amount that comes in.
Even small donations over time will add up.
Zarxrax
06-17-2011, 04:02 PM

But if you ever decided you want to set up a donation without feeling you owe someone.
Then you could start a thread and ask people what little incentives they would like for donating.
If they're getting something out it then you shouldn't need to feel any obligations.
Anyways it's just an idea.

Figures are completely necessary to discuss because if it were cheap enough (which its not) donations would have been a solve all problem. Actually the $300 or so a year don't sound too bad or hard to get in donations. But I doubt enough people would take the time to contribute cash to something they contribute time to already. It is always worth a shot suggesting ideas.

That's against the advertisers agreements list.
They want interested people clicking their ads.
If Zarx we're to put that on the front page they would decline him from the service the moment they found out.
Zarxrax
06-17-2011, 09:00 PM
Also, I'm not sure if clicks really contribute much anyways. I get paid simply for views. I do get stats on how many times the ads were clicked, but I'm not sure how much (if at all) that factors into the payout.
You probably shouldn't click unless you are genuinely interested.
