I was surprised too but I just posted the info as I saw it. I think it is because girls mature faster then boys even in comprehension skills...I am not trying to start an argument here that's just the common facts. I don't agree with it but I am not a psychologist so I can't say why it would be true or false.

Oh well, here goes nothing... a late and short presentation!

Apparently, I come from the great land of *BLEEP*.
If we go more into detail, these facts probably the less ball-crushingly boring ones:
I fall into the shonen group, surrounded by all the sniveling 12 year-olds (Dammit...)
My probably most prominent quality is that I don't have any... probably... And by this I mean that I'm ball-crushingly normal and uninteresting; no job, no humor (alright, barely any...) and no terminal disease of any kind...

My anime tastes are usually limited to a constant alternation between random, pointless and absurd anime, such as Azumanga and Lucky Star, and other that include perhaps a good dose of action and interesting elements and characters (and perhaps even a giant robot... or a good hail of bullets, perhaps).
It must be quite obvious by now that FLCL is one of my favorites out there...
All in all, I tend to be quite mainstream when it comes to anime, while still managing to keep a distance from the largest ones such as "the big three"...
In manga, however, I tend to be far more demanding and I tend to dig up old and unknown one-shots, short series that never got off the ground, early works of now famous manga artists.
Concerning AMVs, well, lets just say I'm a hardcore fan, I enjoy reviewing most of them but, when it comes to actually making them, I'm truly beyond any help (thanks a lot, Mac...)

I'm no spectacular artist, but I'm currently wasting my coffeebreaks to draw a comic. My co-workers seem to like it.

It's about a non-anthropomorphic giant rat with an array of firearms, chased by a somewhat more anthropomorphic fox, some ****philes and the soviet airforce. And the airport ninja.
All in a style more reminiscent of "the wizard of Id" than any sort of anime.

I used to watch mostly giallo and random PD flicks I found on google.video. "The beast of yukka flats" and suchlike.

A coworker of mine noted that I should check these asian cartoons out - they'd be right up my alley. Beginning with "afro samurai" and "death note."

Was good. At some point I watched "Sailor Moon" ... which is basically a medley of giallo and random PD flicks. So nothing has really changed for me.

Near the lower end of josei here. I'm mostly surprised at how high the josei range goes.

Personally I tend to prefer manga+anime aimed at the seinen demographic, and dislike those aimed at the shojo demographic.

I'm an anthropomorphic artist and actor, enrolled in two colleges but attending neither at the moment because I moved to another state for a temporary job opportunity this summer. I am going to college to become a professional actor.

Heavy gamer (Gamertag is the same as my name if you wanna play a game or few) Bioshock, Portal, Shadow of the Colossus and Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare are my favorite games. The originals not Portal 2 and Bioshock 2+ the upcoming one and Call of Duty 4 is my top game of all time.

Anime: Anything by Gainax is a winner in my book. I love the Neon Genisis Evangelion series for its heavy exploration of the human psychology above all other series and I am one who loves complex referential and deadpan humor. I enjoy all animes but I rarely admit I like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star and Death Note as much as I do because I like to look like an indifag. I am a big fan of the not very well known Sorcerous Stabber Orphen anime. I also love to read all manga I come across and have a large collection of random series.

I love all kinds of music but my fav bands are Fall Out Boy and The Protomen in that order.

I am also a critic and view that the world is not as sophisticated as it should be so I often seem like a douche trying to explain the significance of proper critique, proper argument styles and factuality of statements. I am also a spelling but not grammar Nazi more often then not which is why most every one of my posts are edited at least once including this one. I also refuse to dumb down things without insulting the intelligence of whatever I have to lower my language or references to accommodate. (The difference being how much more eloquent /0 was for all of its dirty humor it was still a "smarter" video compared to the first. It is the same as the difference between a Newfag and Oldfag. (Understanding jokes used.)

My point was to show that I have a joy for things that are complex in nature and have strong references. Those too young to understand things like why I like the Evangelion series are what I am referring to.

It seems that most of this sites users should be able to not only act with a sense of maturity but understand that just because someone says something dirty or insulting it is not always as it seems. Same goes with being able to understand complex and long-winded explanations and jokes.

It is all about being able to understand something which, by nature, the older people are the more they will understand. Also, saying something stupid on this site has no explanation when people have an edit button for all posts AND they also refuse to admit that they made a mistake. It is however a reasonable excuse if spoken or when your words can not be taken back or edited. (Acting with maturity)

I think I understand what you're getting at. I also really like psychological series, Paranoia Agent is one of my favorites for that reason. Developing a vocabulary for why you like something definitely does happen with age. At the same time, I can find myself enjoying something without having any justification beyond "It's fun." Personally I think that there is some value in still being able to enjoy things without needing a reason (I am worried that I am losing this ability).

I guess that somehow my general point is that people can have many different levels of maturity at once. I know that I have trouble expressing myself through writing, and through words in general, so if I say something that sounds really simple, that may be the reason.

I'm 18, living in California, heading down to College in a few months, currently spending a lot of time gardening and playing cello and doing other things that do not involve Homework. Because...I spent the whole...last...friggin...year....doing...homework. RAAAAAR!

I am not an otaku and probably never will be (a Sailor Moon costume would emphasize my butt a bit too much...hehe. :D ), but I have liked anime since I was little, although I did not watch much besides Ghibli movies until recently. I went to my school's anime club a few times out of curiosity and discovered several new shows there.

Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion are, and will always be, my all-time favorites. Even though I feel embarrassed to love Evangelion sometimes, and it isn't something I would recommend to a non anime-fan. Those two shows hooked me so much...I would watch like 6 episodes a day sometimes, and they are what drew me into "anime", not just Miyazaki movies but "anime".

Since then, I've been exploring, scouting out the well-known and obscure, but trying to avoid things I know I won't like (Naruto is too loud and toilet-humoury for me, Bleach too angsty, Ouran a bit too cutesy, Gurren Lagann a tiny bit too silly). Sadly, I've noticed a tendency...too many shows lift archetypes from other works and just recycle someone else's work, which is discouraging. I'm willing to forgive it to an extent, and I just hope I keep finding enough new, truly mind blowing stuff to keep me into the art form.

Not much of a manga-reader, but I've read some of Tezuka's stuff. Wonderful storywriter, that man...

Don't know what the future holds, but I will always be a nerd. A proud nerd. :}

The first anime I ever saw was The Dragon League, loved it. (since I was raisd in a soccer playing/loving country) and that was my first contact with this beautiful disease known as anime/manga/hentai.

I never have been able to get into the whole posting on forums thing until AMVHell.
I just started making AMVs at the beginning of season 2.
My interest in things seems to change every so often.
Before my interest in AMV making, I was learning programming.
I love learning about anything computer related.
Before that I was trying to get better at art, I could always draw what I saw decently enough, but I was never able to be creative in my art.
The same goes for my interest in music. I'm able to play what I want easily enough but I just can't seem to make music of my own. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and set to high of expectations for myself. I always end up throwing away anything I've created.
My favorite instrument is the piano, which is also the instrument I'm best at.
Next favorite is guitar and then violin.
I love a good game, but I find as I get older, I have less and less time to play them.
My interest in everything tends to fade in and out of my life.
My interest in anime for some reasons seems to be the only thing that has stayed constant.

Right now my main interest is focused on this site, AMV making and just being a part of it all.
I happen to really love this site and the community within it.

Anyways you did understand what I was saying and thanks for providing an explanation on why you agreed with me but I am not saying everything has to have a reason why its enjoyable. I love Spongebob and My Little Pony but aside from some cleaver jokes stuff can just be fun. My current project going "AMV.avi" known as "AMV Bloody Wet Dreams" on the forum is setting out to be more cleaver while I want to have the side project video for the "rejected" hentai clips be the one that's just fun...also good videos with bad quality but that's another story for anyone who asks it in that thread.

What I did try to say about complex jokes was, if there is a reason behind something like why the characters in Evangelion want to kill themselves or understanding a joke/reference used in a clip then it should be explored and not ignored. *If not understood.* (Rhyme unintentional but the underlined portions, if connected, makes the point of this current reply of mine.)

I hold everything accountable to be smart if it tries to be smart. Including people. If something trying to be silly, fun or stupid then it has the right to be. This is why I have such mixed emotions for the AMV Hell minis series this season because it is hard to tell where the line is drawn between making smart jokes (references connecting both the video and audio used) and just being silly and fun. If you would like examples of the types of jokes used there I am sure I could find a few good ones and make a quick guide. My issue with this season of minis is completely my own issue and opinion, I don't need to hear or even care what you all think about what I had to say about this season of minis just now because I still know season 2 is good in its own merits.

I was not trying to say you shouldn't post your info or something here. I was just saying that in general. It is fine for anyone to pop in and comment as long as it is related to whats going on and the have some info on what happened before.

You were completely justified in posting what you did. If you want an example of what I consider my pet peeve then click the link I have in my signature and read through, its when someone is asking something that's already been said maybe a page or two ago in a thread that I don't like. Or when they ignore what something (a thread) is about to complain about whats going on at the current moment without knowing what was going on in the fight before they joined the fight. I should have said this before but it is only when people comment without a lack of information already discussed in the thread they are bitching in.

OK, I'm a 26 year old Josei - living in the United Kingdom, living in England - originally from Wales.

Currently unemployed due to disability so I get by doing anthropomorphic artwork commissions and making costumes. I'm a furry, been a furry for 14 years and showing no signs of recovery just yet :P

I don't remember my first anime, my mother is a shameless Otaku (and I think she actually browses this site - if you're reading this, hi mum!) and has been for as long as I remember, as such she was always bringing home random anime videos for me and my brother to watch. I was just a kid, didn't know it was anime and just plonked myself down and watched it with her despite not understanding half of it as a child.

I got into anime properly when I was around 12-14, used to be glued to Digimon, Pok?mon, Sailor Moon, DBZ, Gundam.... you know, those kinda shows. Discovered Evangelion when channel flicking one morning - that was the first boxset I ever bought myself. I don't really have a favourite anime, although I will admit I do have a special place for Evangelion and Escaflowne.

AMV wise, got introduced to amv's when a friend sent my a CD with a few Sailor Moon ones - I eventually found my way onto .org and started making my own crappy little ones. I think I was around 17 then, did it for a few months then got bored of it. Started AMV making again casually last year then ended up dragging my ass over here to you fine people ;)

My parents do not approve of my anime ways so I unfortunately don't own many DVDs of anime. I do however own 7 VHS's of Pokemon. (Don't ask why or how I got them.) I am also the creator of AMV Paradise but nobody cares so it's not really relevant.

Hello, I am from the Shōnen minority group (Age 16).

I believe the first anime I watched was the Pokemon series, but this was when I was very young. The only anime I own right now are the first two seasons of Sgt. Frog, but I have also rented the first season of Full Metal Alchemist. Currently, I have rented the first disc of the second season of FMA and the beginning of the Hellsing series (I have yet to watch them).

As for my collection of manga, I have various series from different genres, such as Negima!, Soul Eater, Death Note, Azumanga Daioh, Yotsuba&!, Lucky Star, Tsubasa, and, naturally, Sgt. Frog.

I have some concepts for manga/anime that I want to draw, but I need a heck of a lot of practice before that's possible. My other hobbies include video games (mostly RPGs and FPS) and reading books other than manga (Sacrilege! lol).

I also have all DLC for all of the games I listed except for Halo Reach (Borrowing it) and Rock Band 3 (I just have a lot of DLC for it)

I am also getting gamefly again here in two weeks (after my trip to Texas) so I will have the ability to play any game. I am a very privilaged person when it comes to gaming. Well although I just registered here, and I'm 22, I'm no stranger to AMV Hell seeing I first saw it when I was 14. Yes, anime wise the first one for me was Vampire Hunter D on VHS that was when I was like 8 my bro's apartment room. But mainstream started with Inuyasha, Esclasclowne, etc. So don't worry mini submissions will be expected from me don't worry until I get my bitchin Sony Vegas workin well and the inevitable VGMV Apocalypze is a be done.

You betcha, I was first introduced to and saw it on the net in 2003, or that was AMV Hell 3, eitherway 1 and 2 aren't that far apart when released. Though didn't get to see 4 or 5 do to working on the aforementioned project and Handyman and maintenence work :)

Since 4, there's been a wealth of media: first /0, then the first season of minis, then 5, and now more minis, not to mention talk of an AMV Hell 6 (or two versions) coming out next year.
