Wow, someone is just bringing this up NOW?

There were a number of reasons that WMV files were not allowed.

1. Videos in WMV suck most of the time.
2. Videos in WMV have poor video quality most of the time.
3. WMV videos are much more difficult to work with and add into the project than a correctly made avi file.

Vista's movie maker is better than most $30+ editors.
Compatable with WMVHD,WMV9,WMV,AVI,XVID
Movie maker all the way!(death to iMovie, final cut pro, magix, adobe premiere and all others!) ;)

Death to iMovie? What are us flat-broke cheapskate Macintosh users supposed to edit with, then???

Are you suggesting that Bill "My solid-gold toilets run on Vista only" Gates is going to port over WMM to the Mac?

UNOwen

Why would Gates put effort into making a port? You don't have already have Bootcamp? :P

Your avatar still give me the heebie-jeebies, though. Bleah. Luckily, hubby watched all the Saw movies while I was away on holiday so I don't have to. =P

Don't get me wrong, I'm a ghoul. I like reading my serial killer encyclopedia before bed and then sleeping like a baby. But I prefer my horror movies spooky, not gore-drenched pornographic-like. ;D

I could have sworn I had announced myself as such already.

Apparently, U. N. Owen must speak in the third-person more often.
The pun behind the name is the same. However, if you've ever read the book, "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie (aka "Ten Little Indians"), you would know the name holds a much darker purpose. It's a great read, so I'd suggest you all check it out!

kinda morbid (and complex) for a fourth-grade read...

UNOwen

That would explain a couple of things though. Reading early has made me a bit of a Grammar Nazi, and the morbid nature of the read would explain... well, I don't think I have to go into details on THAT one now, do I? *points to avatar*
The funny thing is I had to read it for my sixth grade English class, anyway. I was ahead of the game in that respect. :P

Just recently, my English class (college level, mind you) went over Hawthorne's "The Black Veil", a story I had already studied back in 9th grade. Isn't being ahead of the curve great?

More like the Avatar was chosen to match the name. I used to have a Ganondorf avatar, as well as a fat Peter Griffin and Death (also from Family Guy). Someone said with my love of the SAW series, it would be better to have an avatar related to that. Next thing I know, all my avatars are now Jigsaw's puppet. It suits the name better.

Yeah, they are great, aren't they? I have trouble deciding what my favorite trap is. "Venus Fly Trap" was insane, but the "Needle Pit" still makes my skin crawl! But, now we are going much more off-topic than we should, so let's all watch it on our own time. Oh, and I don't refer to the puppet as Billy because, honestly, I don't remember that in any of the movies. Unless it was named in "4", which I have actually yet to see, it would be a fairly obscure reference with no connection to the plot. Even if I knew of this before, it likely wouldn't change anything because no one else would know who I'm talking about. Technically, I shouldn't even be calling him Jigsaw, as he never called himself that. His name is John. But, if I were to say John's puppet, people would ask, "Who is John?" So, instead, I use names everyone else would know. I'm lazy like that.

...Wait, didn't I already say I was going to get back on topic? Damn. What was the topic, anyway?

the topic is "AMV WMV"!
it's descriped the poor quality of wmv vids.

AMVP
11-17-2007, 05:24 PM
From what I've seen, I have to argue in the defense of WMVs. Granted, they probably are among the lower quality standards, but they aren't exactly unintelligable either. I myself have downloaded a couple of WMV videos where the quality was quite acceptable. Granted, I may be a little bias, seeing as WMM is my only current means of making AMVs myself, but I still felt obligated to say something.
