Seriously? Do we REALLY need yet another thread for video editors? I don't mean to sound like a jerk but, can't you just use the search function?

Yes, the first step in becoming a professional AMV maker is to master a Search function ^_^

I feel this is an important thread that needs more attention and discussion.

There is a fine line between an amateur video editor and an aspiring video editor/cinematographer with real talent. While every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to make videos, it takes genuine talent and patience coupled with the appropriate hardware and software to make the grade.

That means you're going to need lots of money! Anyone can use cheap software to slap an AMV together. But if you want to make a video of true quality, you need professional, not consumer, editing software.

If you're like me and can't afford Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 or Vegas Pro 10 yet, you can still make some half-decent videos with PowerDirector 9. You can get it for under a hundred bucks and it will serve you well until you can afford professional video editing software.

Just remember, video editing takes a lot of computing power so I highly recommend a quad core processor, a decent graphics card and no less than 8gbs of ram. Good luck!

The problem is there are at least 12 of these threads already. We need to create one and post all the info there.

Will it accept AVIsynth files?

I have Pinnacle Studio HD 15, and it HATES pre-processed files.

I can use Virtualdub to IVTC, crop, and resize. but then Pinnacle
gives me problems when I try to use it.

@ mattroks101 - Good idea! Let's merge all the info into this thread.

Let me tell you a little about myself so you know I'm not just talking out of my @$$. I'm not a computer programmer or cinematographer, YET. I'm currently fixing my credit so I get financial aid to pursue a bachelor's degree in Digital Cinematography. I've been using computers since I was 6 and I've been monkeying with photo, video and sound editing for over 10 years. In addition, my mother taught me photography and I took 2 years each of film study and video production in high school.

A lot of you are concerned about your editing programs accepting various types of files. Let's keep it simple. First of all, if you expect to make a decent video, you need decent quality source material. So don't use videos you downloaded from youtube or from various torrent sites. I recommend acquiring your anime collection on blu-ray or DVD and then ripping the files into an appropriate format, resolution and bit-rate. There are plenty of decent programs you can do this with.

Hypothetically, If you happen to acquire anime torrents, aim for the highest possible video and audio bitrate and resolution. Next, for all you FireFox users, install an add-on called FVD Suite. It is a great free program, I've been using it for a couple of years now. FVD Suite has all the trimmings, so you can convert various video formats INTO various video formats at whatever resolution, audio bitrate and video bitrate you want. I have used Windows Movie Maker, PowerDirector and a few of the cheaper programs and I've never had any trouble using media converted with FVD Suite.

Just remember to keep your audio and video codecs up to date.
