Well, the recovery system has saved my dumb ass from a couple of viruii. Able to reformat and reinstall everything on my system (about 320GB) in about two hours. I tell you, I was very impressed.

What kinds of problems are you running into? I haven't hit any major speed bumps. Hell, I've got the original Fallout purring like a kitten on this machine! So far, there really hasn't been a program issue that can't be solved with {Run in compatibility mode - Win XP ---> Run as administrator}. Hence, the viruii issues.
Got Vista here, too, and likewise, I got no problems with it. There's some slowdown booting up, but that may just be because of my packed start up menu. (I've got frickin' everything on there)

I've been running vista for a few months now. No MAJOR problems so far, but there are a LOT of little annoyances. It's definitely got a few improvements over xp, but I think the annoyances outweigh them though...
What IDIOT at Microsoft decided that no one would ever want to change the icons for a certain file type?

probably the guy who got really annoyed about using different computers and never being able to find anything due to different icons...

Thare are more annoyances in xp.
Sorry, i just think that XP's incompatability with the best graphics outweighs "minor annoyances"

Eternal Fighter Zero ~Memorial~, using Applocale. doesn't work when I need it and works when I don't.

hmmm, i don't like vista, 'cause it needs to much performance.
when i'll use a good looking OS, i just need to start Mandriva 2008, it looks way better than vista,
but it only needs 256 MB RAM (i never needed my swap partition before!)
and my AMD Sempron 2600+ and my ATI 9600PRO are just superb for this OS,
you don't need expesive stuff, to run a new OS on ya PC!
'cause this facts, i will never run MS Vista on my PC, XP is ok, and i still need it for games,
but i think there wouldn't be resources left, if install Vista.
think about what you will, but i defently didn't need it. (maybe i'll wait for the new one,
that is planned for 2009, i heard it will use a new kernel)

i'll just stick with XP untill there's a new version because i don't like vista at all.
i have been running vista for a while and i didn't like it at all, rumour has it that there will be a new server edition in 2008.
let's hope that one will be better then vista

Some people that know what they are talkin' 'bout!
if you base knowledge on a bunch of poeple saying the same thing over and over then thats not really knowledge.
Its like me saying that some movie that I have never before seen was the best thing ever. That dosen't mean I know what im talking about.
Vista eats up ALOT of memory, and yes I like it better then xp. except for the game screwing up part.

SHAM, SLAP IN THE FACE!?!?!?!?!?
VISTA IS THE BEST VERSION OF WINDOWS EVER!
btw, as a programmer i know whats the best windows for programs, VISTA!
if you want a slap in the hace, use apple stuff(they suck)
(because i got an iPod touch 2 DAYS BEFORE THE UPGRADE shoulden't mean i have to pay $20 for an update!)
look at zune, even the 1st gen still gets updates for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vista is not the best version of windows ever.
it is a dolled up version of xp with mac make-up on.
I haven't run into any major problems (my sisters new comp came with vista), but ALOT of my older games refuse to run, alot of my newer games that can run on the highest graphics setting on my 3 year old laptop, can only run on the lowest in vista (damn resource hogging), and to top it all off it STILL asks us if we want to start programs we've been using DAILY since august.
and this is way XP still accounted for more then 75% of microsofts OS sales in 2007.
