Clip 27. I don't get it. The clips seem to parody Takeshi's Castle, but I don't understand where the audio is from, or what the logo in the bottom corner means.

Could someone please explain it to me?

spike tv used to run a show called Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, aka MXC, which was pretty much Takeshi's Castle just redubbed. So that is where the audio is from.

By the way, at best buy today i saw a boxed set of season 1 and 2 of MXC on dvd. just in case you ever wanted to see it

I doubt MXC would ever get a DVD release here, as we have our own 'dub' of Takeshi's Castle, CALLED Takeshi's Castle. Which just has a well-known TV presenter talking over the show.

We neither have that dub of Takeshi's Castle, nor Spike TV.
(I'm from England by the way)

you know what's great, since we are on the subject of Takeshi's Castle?

If you have ever seen the movie Battle Royale, if not you need to, but anyway the teacher who is governing everything is Beat Takeshi from Takeshi's castle.

Yes, I've seen Battle Royale, awesome movie. I actually saw it on TV way back in 2000. But I thought I reconized him from somewhere when I first saw it.

But I'm wondering why Takeshi's Castle was renamed Most Extreme Elimination Challange in America, but in the UK it wasn't renamed at all. Got any ideas on that?

There are some clips, and even a couple of episodes of MXC on youtube, in parts of course. My favorite event is Tour de Grand Prix (tricycle racing), but they don't show it very often.

Anyway I prefer the english version since it keeps the basic concept, original audio, and has a commentator that just uses sex jokes and movie references.
I always thought that the US version tried to hard and I never found it funny in the first place, but of course everyone is going to prefer the version that they are introduced to first and seeing other versions just seems too different that they will just dislike it like I do.

This show's an old standby for me, along with Invader Zim and Arrested Development. Look forward to the third season DVD (ever since it moved to spike, I haven't been able to watch it any other way).

After watching and loving MXC for some time, I stumbled upon the British guy while looking for a sub (was curious about the Japanese show). Didn't find it funny at all. Watching one seems to ruin the other for the viewer.
