if you are luckey enough to be a vista user you might have noticed that there are some compatability issues.
this is mainly caused by 3Rd party companys having put an 'install only in XP' command(this was so that people would not try to install XPonly software in 2000-).
Games are mostly caused by windows vista not having the direct-X version that games expect.(XPsp2= Direct-X9 Vista=Direct-X10) the direct-X 10 in vista is a lower qaulity version of Direct-X 10 made for compatability with D-X-9 Video cards.

Now, if you are using windows update, you will notice that compatability errors are fewer then they used to be.

So...Use windows update and you will have a MUCH better expierance than with XP.
Enjoy:D

lucky enough? Whats luck got to do with it? Just go out and buy a copy...

I used to think vista was good, and now im running into compatability issues that shouldn't be happeneing, such as Vista being a Piece of **** and randomly decideing its too gay to run source physics, and then proceded to frack everything up by trying to resolve a problem it can't resolve. In short. I think XP is better for now. All vista really has to offer me that I use is a new GUI, Possibly the worst Mac Idea ever - hell Widgets, Annnnnnnnd thats about it. Office 2007 is stupidly odd with the way they designed the toolbars and crap.. I got the hang of it, but why not just save us all the annoyance and keep it the same?

You are totally right with that, I too have suffered under those annoying "trying to solve a problem" messages when things freeze up and my internet is always disconnecting itself. Best bet= Stay with an Xp

My copy of vista works just fine.. I have disabled all annoying security messages that keeps popping up when i try to do something, but since i disabled them i really like vista.. Ive heard that vista x64 have alot more problem than x86 but i also heard that service pack 1 is coming in the beginning of 2008 so lets hope vista is gonna be even better :P

I have my suspecions about SP1, and email I got from one of the tech nes sites said it wasn't gonna be good. I just hope they don't frak it up vista's compatability even more, while trying to make it more compatible...

I use Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs as my OS for most of my computers, so Vista is not on my list for upgrading. Now if Vista can can start up in 17 sec (and thats on my 666MHz) and run with only 1MB of video, I might consider.

I've tried vista a few times and I've always reinstalled xp a short time after. The only advantage vista has over xp right now as I see it would be because of the DirectX10 compability in the new games, and a nice looking GUI and 100000+ gadgets that sucks performance out of the PC. but the differences between dx9 and dx10 isn't that major that I would install vista just because of that. I will try vista again after the service packs and if it doesn't get better, then I will throw it in the dumpster and never look at it again.

anyone know why in particular MS decided to blatantly copy the Mac Widget crap? Cause frankly thats one the most hated things about macs for me. and I don't use ANY of the pointless widgets except the CPU speedometer, cause its funny.

Trust me, Vista SP1 is the best thing ever to be released!

@theendofallthingsgreenII

asukafan do you work for microsoft?

cause you are singing the praises of Vista to the wrong group.

As for compatibly, for us gamers, a SP3 will be released for XP to allow us to update to drivers that are currently "Vista only." I'd still like to point out that more then 75% of microsofts OS sales in 2007 where STILL XP.
