After having a long debate over this with two members of this wonderful site, I realized there never could be a "winner" because both sides were working with opinions and not facts. So out of curiousity and to establish some facts to work with, I decided to create this thread in the hopes of figuring out what is our general idea of forum etiquette on AMV Hell, how should we go about using the forums here? I've made a check list for you to use, but you can also post your own thoughts on the subject if the list doesn't cover all of them:

[_] Users should limit the amount of threads they make to one a day.
[_] Users should limit the amount of threads they make to one a week.
[_] Users should be able to make more than one thread a day, if they're not spam.
[_] Users shouldn't create threads talking about their daily lives.
[_] Users should be able to create threads talking about their daily lives, in the off-topic forum where they belong.
[_] Users shouldn't make new threads about subjects that already have threads.
[_] It's alright to have more than one thread based around a certain subject as long as the site is not being spammed with them.
[_] "Random"/"pointless" threads have no place on this site.
[_] "Random"/"pointless" threads are alright as long as a user doesn't make a habit of making them, and they should keep it to the off-topic forum.
[_] AMV Hell forum etiquette is serious business.
[_] Who cares about any of this? This isn't Nazi Germany, let's just all relax and have fun!

That would've required some very careful wording because people are only allowed to pick one option in the polls, right?

No, you can put it to where you can select more than one.

No, you can put it to where you can select more than one.

Either way I like doing it this way better. No particular reason I guess, maybe besides it prevents poll abuse by people with multiple accounts.

my little system [-]=relative [X]=agree
[-] Users should limit the amount of threads they make to one a day.
I agree and disagree. I believe that users can make as many threads as they want as long as it creates discussion and not spam
[-] Users should limit the amount of threads they make to one a week.
same as before
[X] Users should be able to make more than one thread a day, if they're not spam.
see above
[-] Users shouldn't create threads talking about their daily lives.
This is the internet, nothing is sacred. Just check out our nsfw threads.
[X] Users should be able to create threads talking about their daily lives, in the off-topic forum where they belong.
as long as we are careful. I now the instance of a psyco killer finding our shibb thread and then finding and attacking the guy is slim (very slim). We don't want anyone to be harmed by our discussion be it by us online or in the real life.
[X] Users shouldn't make new threads about subjects that already have threads.
Agree, unless they hone in on a specific subject. Example a Religion thread, then a Christian thread, and then a hermeneutics thread.
[-] It's alright to have more than one thread based around a certain subject as long as the site is not being spammed with them.
See what I just said before this one
[_] "Random"/"pointless" threads have no place on this site.
These threads are fun and bring out the personalities of the users in a fun way.
[X] "Random"/"pointless" threads are alright as long as a user doesn't make a habit of making them, and they should keep it to the off-topic forum.
Yes
[X] AMV Hell forum etiquette is serious business.
If we turn a thread in NSFW can we at least change the title to contain such. If the title does not say NSFW please keep that thread such. This applies to nudity, profanity, and any other sinful things you can think of.

There can be nothing but opinions when it comes to proper etiquette.(Forum based or otherwise)

Here's my opinion:

A user can create a thread on whatever topic they want, so when they want to they will.
But users familiar with the site should try to not create a thread unnecessarily.

If it has to do with a users daily life then they should just post it in the Random Rants or another appropriate thread.(They're there for a reason.)
The only reason to create a whole new thread for a daily life event is if a user is attention hungry.

The way I think is... "If it seems like a topic others would likely care very little about(even if it's important to me) then why would I create a thread about it?
& [Even if people just might find my topic interesting.]
"If the discussion obviously wont last very long, then it doesn't need it's own thread."

But if I had to choose from what you listed I'd probably go with what Backmask selected.
Note: What he selected is what I would prefer, not how I think it should be.

Should a user who . . let's say, has been around for about a year, has like 24 videos in the AMV Minis series, is well liked by the AMV Hell community, be given more of a break concerning forum etiquette compared to a user who doesn't contribute as much or is new? =D

I think by the time this is through, everyone will basically be split on how people should generally act on the forums here. A lot of people agree with Backmask's idea of a super serious handling of forum etiquette, but there's also a lot of people who agree with my idea of a more relaxed and carefree take to forum etiquette. I think it comes down to this: if the whole point of AMV Hell is to make funny immature videos using Japanese cartoons, why should the forums here be taken so seriously? It'd be like if there was a site dedicated to . . fallen police officers, and the forums there were filled with random goofy topics. The forums of a site should reflect what the site is about, in my mind.

No, personal experience. I used to go out at night to the neighbor's farm and rape all his watermelons. He caught me once but I was wearing a mask and I got away. The next morning I was watching the news, and they were talking about "The Masked Watermelon Rapist", and-ah' screw it I'm just messing with you. Actually this thread was made to figure out where as a community how we stand on forum etiquette.

Bull****, this is a petty stab at both Backmask and myself. The issues we have brought up, not but a day or two before this thread was created, have been you and posting too many threads (like this one) that have no or little need to exist. If it was really about forum etiquette you would have included some things besides thread issues.

Ex...Posting, flaiming, images and or video content (pornographic or excessive violence) and so on.

Focusing on threads is sort of sad since your the main one (not only one) causing issues with threads. Lurk more, simple as that.

Considering this forum is "Off-Topic" and this our equivalent of /b/ I don't think it matters how many of what kind of threads exist here. If they're pointless or useless they'll eventually drop off the main page and you'll never have to see them again, I don't see what the big deal is. I'm personally not bothered by any of pandas threads nor do I see how they cause issues for anyone else.

Just my opinion.

As far as content goes there are rules but they are not clearly expressed. The main issue is with the advertisers and what they will and will not support there was a big issue with text content referring to beastiality, lolicon (they said ****phelia) and so on but that was just what was spoken. Thats what this thread should be focusing on to keep AMV Hell up and running because Zarxrax will not be paying for this site out of his own back pocket.

Instead its directed towards what Backmask and I have been talking about which is Pandas way of posting "threads" not just posting in general. Thats the example I am trying to show of useless threads Panda pops out. There are other things too but thats the issue that this thread has, just no beneficial point besides a "hey look at me, I make a bunch of threads so what do you think about my threads." type thread. I want substance to a topic, not an attention whore's topic of the day.

None of my recent threads have been pointless, and this thread has served its purpose. It wasn't made to make you or Backmask look bad, it was made to settle a debate. And after going through all the posts, the majority of AMV Hell users side with me. So if I may take a moment to cut loose . . Victory! Victory for Panda'! Victory for forum freedom!

Pointless thread is pointless.

To top it off,

Your argument style is that of an adolescent who can't admit when he is wrong. The whole thing were you just say "that doesn't make sense" without any form of justification just makes you appear to be, for lack of a better term, stupid, then you add "I'm right, your wrong," without any form of justification, which really just makes you an immature man-child.

However, you are the type of person to disregard something that works against you and you don't acknowledge the fact that you've been bested in the argument.
Thank you for proving both me and Backmask were correct to begin with, even the majority can be wrong it would seem.

^Nope. This thread WAS created to settle a debate, yes, BUT, that debate was about forum etiquette, so this thread serves two purposes, settling a debate and establishing general AMV Hell forum etiquette. Also now the majority is wrong because they agree with me and not you? That's kind of an immature thing to say. Also, I'm not taking back my little childish celebration, in fact, I'll do some more. Hooray! People agree with me! Panda' is right for once! =3

And Back and Evilest keep on trolling and starting pointless arguments for the sake of arguing. Not much has changed while I have been ignoring the forums. Seriously panda, EvilestDeath and Backmask will call you out on anything you do. It is impossible to win against them because they have no life and will devote all their to fighting you because they can. My suggestion is to just not reply to them. They will get bored and find someone else to troll.

Is a person still being trolled if they KNOW they're being trolled but keep arguing anyway for entertainment? =3

Then that makes you a "Cannibal Troll" a troll that receives it's lulz from OTHER trolls. So therefore, You ARE the Troll Panda.

Need I say it again?

Matt you should know what this is about, we had a similar issue earlier this year but instead of me trying to get panda to stop posting threads nearly every day YOU were trying to get me to stop endlessly bumping a single thread I had with the same message instead of adding any new content. Only difference is I stopped doing that while some people have yet to learn what there doing affects at least one person. (While you were the only one who spoke up about it being annoying then there are multiple people speaking up now.)

Time to fight fire with fire I guess. Prepare your anus Panda, I'm going in raw and don't play nicely.

yeah that's what I thought too, we should consider having at least one mod who regularly visits the site and can just quietly delete that wort of thing, I'll bring it up in one of the sticky threads where zarx might be able to see it.
