My oldest victory over a game would have to be.... damn I forgot the name, it was an Anchient Fighter Sim, and it was really fun now that I think about it, and then there was Terminal Velocity, and Captain whatever, and Hocus Pocus, and OHH! Secret Agent! HA! MSDOS FTW!

I finished it up, it was a pretty awesome game. I don't understand all the "game of the year" and "best game ever" stuff that it's getting though.

Of the other stuff in Orange Box, I haven't really touched most of it yet. Only other game I have tried is Half-Life 2, and I've made it up to after you get the gravity gun.

ep 1 and 2 are simply Half Life 2.25 and 2.50 respectively... Assuming their going to make another two Episodes, Personally, I think Half Life Episode 3 is ging to be the last, considering the increase in leangth, and story progerssion in the prior episodes. I would be totally, wrong, but I would wager they wouldn't make more then one more episode after 3.

I ain't even touched Orange Box yet, so I ain't got no clue what this cake thing is. As far as the oldest game that I have beaten, I was going to say "The Oregon Trail" (I'm talking about the original one that was on those big ass floppy discs) but I can't because you said it had to be post 1990. So I'll go with my fourth oldest, "Shining Force" for the Sega Genis, which came out in 1993.

Call of Duty 4. In my opinion the best game since Half Life 2, and by far the best game of 2007!

Yes there is cake, but you don't get to have any because your topside.

I really, really, really love CoD4, it was the right leangth in my opinion, and I was getting a little annoyed with the face that there were so many interesting weapons, but I didn't use half of them. Mainly because it didn't fit with the mission (stealth) or was impractical (either needed a long range weapon, or something that has a GL)

It did an absolutely fantastic job eith shootouts, because they are astoundingly beliveable, and realistic... I wish more games incorporated the you-can-shoot-through-that-its-only-one-cm-thick-metal aspect, because it makes the game more fun, but that feature was pissing me off in some instances (facing 2 LMGs, fireing randomly through a wall your hiding behind isn't fun).

Overall, I would say that my all time favorite of 2007 is H3. I've played it since H1, and I will always be a Halo fan no matter what. I simply like it more. CoD4 is my close third though. Mass effect being second and AC being fourth.

My take on all this...

A few months ago, I was touring Brandeis College with my mom, who had gone there for a few semesters way back when. We were in the science building wandering around the Bio hall, and there were black boards all over the place. Most of them had chemical formulas on them, and various discussions of problems that were scrawled on them. One board at the end of the hall had a complex carbohydrate molecule drawn on it, and down at the bottom the words "the cake is a lie!!" written on it. I quickly grabbed the handy piece of chalk and was about to write "there really was a cake..." underneath when my mom stayed my hand. She obviously thought that I was about to perform some kind of unspeakable vandalism. I looked at her and knew that I couldn't possibly explain the level of culture that I was communicating, and was forced to leave the exclamation unanswered.
