If any of you have Half Life 2 or Garrys mod, tell me because I am on a mapmaking spree for both, and am currently working on a fairly large mapping project myself. Keep in mind, my mapping skills aren't awesome yet, as I am still experimenting with various tequniques and tools, but I found that I am especially goos at making building, and shaping terrain.
Gotta experiment more with lighting though.
SO anyways, I am open to ideas, I have a few for myself, but hearing ideas from other people would be an interesting change of pace: keep in mind that I will not make overly complex maps for you, I'm already making a pretty complex one, and I'm predicting that ti will take me a month of on and off work to finish.
I can do small cities/towns. Outdoor environs, underground, anthing as long as its limited. I actually think I will start working on a Gmod map tomorrow based on an island, with a dilapadated town in the middle, and old broken building near the shore cliffs.
If I get your map suggestion completed, I will send you the .bsp file for you to put in your maps folder.
thanks!

Noone wants a map in their honor?
I'll model one off an anime location/city if you want... I'm running out of ideas!!

This might be too big a project... But... The town the story of Elfen Lied takes action in...

Hmm, don't know if it's been done, and it will take a lot of skill, but I've always wanted to see someone make the floating castle from "Castle in the Sky" (Laputa) into a FPS map. Now that would be amazing.
(Or maybe the train from Baccano.)
I don't have HL2 at the moment though...

Maybe instead of an entire town which would be a massive project, you could just do the Dyclonius facility and have it as an island map with maybe some vehicles on the outdoors section?

Yeah, I will look into doing the Diclonious factory... I may need you to provide some more details though, I know it has a few layers underground..but how many? I can fo the topside surface fine, and as far as I know, there is only one elevator. As for vehicles, I am only limited to the HL2 airboat and buggy...
can you post a picture of this 'Air-castle'? I have a feeling that that one may have already been done...
I could attempt doing the elfen lied town, but it wouldn't be doing it justice, since making a real town (with buildings you could actually go inside) would take forever and the map itself would be astoundinglyu huge.. although the bay idea for a town seems interesting.

For the facility, you should only really do 2-3 levels underground (although there's many more, it' be too hard to do all of them) and add a couple of labs/rooms (Kisiragi's secretary room?) or a security booth.
Vehicle-wise, the airboat and buggy would be fine, that's all the scientists would need (Although a helicopter would be great if you could find one).

Holy crap that looks cool! Just looking at it I see a few skills that are required that I would need to ask about, but I could definately make that. It would, of course have to be a bit condensed.
OK I'll work on the Elfen Lied lab when I get the chance, I don't think I'll be able to put a Helicopeter in, because that would require scriptingand modelling, and while I'm ok at scripting I haven't done any modelling at all yet.
Also, the helicopeter avaliable now are pretty crappy controll wise, and are prone to glitches.
I'll work on the lab a little later today, and I expect it to be done in maybe two or three weeks, if I can fit it in with the rest of my schedule and my other maps.

Yeah, it's much bigger than I remember. I was actually going to make this level for Jedi Knight, back in the day, but it would've been too hard considering the way levels were made.

Buy my god, this is entirely possible! The only major problem I forsee is how the player would get from level to level... doing an entire interior hallway system would take an age...
its perfect possible though.
One main question: I assume many if not all of you know how to use photoshop? Becaue I need new textures period. The Valve textures ar really, really boring. Ill post a link later showing you how to make textures in photoshop for Hammer...

If you are referring to Minas Tirith...

That picture makes it look small....
For all those who haven't seen Lord of the rings, Minas Tirith isn't! It's huge!

Hmm, it may be a bit of a chellange getting all the details in. I still need new textures by the way...
