For those who have jobs and those who don't post where you work or want to work respectively.

For me I've had two jobs for the past 4 and a half years. Well one job 4 times and the other current job. I used to work at a Chick-fil-a and have done just about everything there at least once (except management). After transferring from Community College they would rehire me during Summer and Winter Breaks. Right now I work at my University recording concerts for their conservatory.

I'm to young to work and I plan on living off of welfare, some autism thing, and minimum wage at subway when I'm older. Why? Because I just need enough money for a fridge, bed, t.v, bath, and Internet connection. So basically I just need enough money for a tiny apartment. Or if I ever feel like it I will become a Computer Programmer but then I'd make to much money.

If I did sign my life away I'd like to get into army aviation, don't really mind what as, pilot, co-pilot, evac medic, etc, I'm cool with any of them. Just so long as I get to be in a helicopter. i came to england to make some cash and decided to give my self into the mercy of an angency, at firt the start was very ****ty worked in a salad factory as a cleaner [****yest part that its cold and your working with HOT WATER],anywho after jumping like 10 jobs in the same factory i ended up the same forklist job with brooming, it was so god dam boring so i just simply stoped giving a dam and broomed while daydreaming even if the floor is already clean [my coworkers bul****ed at me but i had a handycap from me boss]
then finaly after changing my acomodation i got a job at a bakery, also jumped like bloody 10 jobs [i swear they could put me enywere in that place] but my most constant job is producing manager, so like standing 12 hours a day and puting bread in baskets, wage minimum still make more then id make at home though, just the shift jumps that get to me.

what i want to be?well im thiknig of going for the biologic type of work, either sumthing doctor related [like house], bioengineering [if within 10 years thers gonna 95% less liviung ppl on the earth that will be me] or simply psychology [cuz i like mind****ing]

I've been working as the lab tech at an optometrist office for the past 2 & 1/2 years.
about 6 months ago I got certified as an optician just so I could get the raise that went along with it.
It's a good job for now but it's not exactly what I want to do for a living.

I'm likely going to quit when the new year starts.
I want to get into a computer or network related field, so I'll probably get a few certifications just to get my foot in the door.
From there I'll gain experience and hopefully be able to work my up.

I'm a blacksmith! I make splendid steel armor and-ARGH' get out of my head Skyrim! I'm tearing myself away from that game to post this, I need to take a break before I lose touch with reality, I've been playing it almost non-stop since I got it. ANYWAY, I have very little work experience. I worked for a week each at a Wendy's and a Motel 6. At Wendy's the people were nice but the work was too much for me, and at the Motel 6 I was managing to keep up with the work but the boss was horribly mean to me, so I left. I can't handle it when people get in my face and start yelling, I have really bad anxiety and that brings out the worst of it.

Currently I'm on S.S.I., which I didn't want to be put on but my psychiatrist and my mother convinced me it was the best option for someone with my . . mental conditions, and I'm very grateful to the state and the people who live here for giving me an income, otherwise I'd be a burden on my family and I'd have to check myself into a crazy bin because God knows if I couldn't handle a job when I was 16, there's no way I can handle one now when I'm 23 and twice as screwy, not to mention physically I'm a lot worse now with my bad back and damaged nerves in my feet and legs. I guess I should be thankful I can still walk, but it would've been nice if after the spine surgery I could've made a 100% recovery, but life doesn't usually work that way. =\

OK, I'll share..
Currently, I am 43, which I believe may just make me the oldest member on this site (I do put the "senior" in Senior Member)
I usually stay at any given job for 1 or 2 years before moving on, and I have done just about everything in my "career" thus far.
I started as a marquee changer at a movie theatre (use a long pole to hang the letters up - my marquees were always perfectly centered)
then became doorman/usher and part-time projectionist.
Other jobs include:
Worked at a plant that made A/C parts for Honda cars; warehouse work; a plastic injection molding plant; truck loader; tree stump grinder/removal; manager of a Radio Shack; McDonald's (twice)
Pizza Hut Asst Mgr; about 10 other pizza shops; Bob Evans as busboy, dishwasher, eventually kitchen prep cook; Used-car sales; new car sales; newspaper delivery; Printer operator that prints junk mail (Publisher's Clearinghouse, yep, printed those) and as a line server at a buffet.
Currently, I am a line cook at a small, but busy restaurant/motel/bar. It's busy as balls all the time, and I am good at what I do. Been there about a year and a half.
and of course....I'm underpaid =)

I work in voip, primarily with asterisk based business hosted PBX systems. I program internet phones and phone systems for businesses, install systems at locations that are local to me, and provide phone support after install. Probably the biggest customer group we deal with are Allstate insurance agencies. We also do long distance and toll free numbers, and I do customer service for that.

I've talked about this before, but I'm also a freelance writer for FASA, currently working on our newest line, 1879. I do creative writing, come up with mechanics and rules, and am basically a mathematics and physics consultant to make sure that the stuff we come up with are realistic.

When I have time, I also have a side business making chainmail jewelry. I haven't made huge profits from it, but it does fund itself and leave some extra cash left over (at least when the market is moving, which it isn't right now). I primarily make jewelry, mostly necklaces and bracelets, but I also do some accessories and armor when there's a call for it.

This is just stuff I do now. I could go on further with stuff I used to do and stuff I plan to do in the future.

Security guard. And army nat.guard on the side.

Bet you didn't see that one coming!

From the likes of you, that's about the only thing I expected. Glad to see you don't disappoint.

I work in voip, primarily with asterisk based business hosted PBX systems. I program internet phones and phone systems for businesses, install systems at locations that are local to me

Goody! Someone familiar with it to bug if I ever get around to setting one up.

Wow that must be torturous.

Retired from the US Navy, currently working as a medical X-ray tech at a big hospital. Worked on reactors when I was in the Navy, sometimes I feel like I'm playing Fallout IRL:

I would have a PBX set up at my house using a SIP Trunk with a free Google number if I could get the damn CentOS Linux distro that FreePBX uses by default to install properly. Or at all. As it is, I can get the boot disk loaded, but the damn thing just errors out and reboots when I try to install. I'm assuming its a hardware compatibility issue, and I'm not a super guru when it comes to Linux. My next step to try it on another distro (most likely Ubuntu or Mandriva, since those I am most familiar with), but I just haven't had the time to go download the ISOs and make the attempt. If you can get past that point, I should have more expertise from there.

Lol now I just need to do the set up. Though I am thinking of using an FXO card...

It's actually pretty easy. With a bit of hands on instruction, they can get the idea of how to press the power button and even start up firefox.

I don't have any personal experience with FXO cards, though if I'm remembering correctly you just have to set up the SIP Trunk to the card rather than the PBX itself (it's either that or you register the card to the PBX as an endpoint; again, outside of what I really do). Unless you're just using it for an inbound POTS connection, in which case you won't really be saving any money since the traffic will still be handled by your old phone line; really you'll just have a neat toy for your phones.

Even if you can't get a Google Voice number to work (which at the moment they're still doing inbound and outbound for free IIRC), you can still set up a regular SIP Trunk generally for about half what you'd be paying Ma Bell. So if that isn't already your plan, it may be worth looking into.

Currently in my third year of University. Would have loved to do Microbiology as I am obsessed with and love diseases, but my maths was pretty bad so instead I am doing English and Creative Writing as well as learning Japanese. Will probably go into translation jobs or something similar as teaching in Japan right now is not a very good option from the research into it I have done

But that is mostly what I want it for. I want to be better able to screen incoming calls. Also the phone wiring in this house is garbage. There isn't much point in pulling anything other than CAT5E (I am actually using CAT6) so then I may as well use ip phones. That and having the phones as intercom would be nice. I also have a 40 acre property that is mostly covered with wifi (I intend to further improve that). While recently Canadian carriers have begun offering decent long distance plans on cellular (unlimited within Canada to ANY Canadian number) my wifi coverage is FAR better than my cellular. This means that there is an advantage in having the ability to use my smartphone as an extension while I am in the field.

Currently I get Unlimited Canada wide calling for $10 a month. Considering that on my Internet connection VOIP is iffy I say that is a good deal.

Ah, well, if your internet connection isn't stable, then that changes things, and that pricing is pretty good (in most cases in the US, you'd be paying at least double that). Since you'll still have a POTS connection then, just make sure you've got enough lines to cover your needs. And SIP Trunking could still be a viable add on in the future if you need it. I know there are ways to program the routes in the PBX so that it will only use the SIP Trunk if you're calling out of your coverage area, or if your POTS lines are all occupied, so it could work well as a backup. On phones specifically, do not get Snoms; those things are utter ****. I know there are some wifi phones available on the market, but I haven't had any personal experience with them, so I can't give you any advice there. I work mostly with desk top Aastras, though I've also used Polycoms and a Panasonic model that works pretty good. Hell, you can even put a soft phone on Android or iPhone and use that on the wifi if you want.

... Damn it. I don't think it's possible for me to talk about anything I do without sounding like a complete and utter nerd.

Currently working at a local fast food chain called Zip's Drive in (never work fast food, its one of the worst possible jobs you can ever have), but that is only for the next 2 weeks or so as i have been hired for 2 new jobs. First is working event staff and security with a company called Staff Pro. Second is Discount tire, which should be pretty self explanatory, selling and changing tires and wheels for cars. Im excited to be starting these new jobs so i can finally get out of my current one which I've been at for a little over a year and can"t wait to leave.
