Alright, once again I am asking what I would consider experts about what anime I should watch next.
Here is my list of what I have seen:
Azumanga Daioh
RaXephon
EVA
CowBoy Beebop
Love Hina
Zetsubo something something Sensei
Elfen Lied
GITS I & II
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzemiya
GANTZ
Chobits
I would like to see another more serious anime, like EVA, GITS or RahXephon
I would like something science fiction oriented
Giant robots are fine
I think I remember seeing something in one of the Hells (could be any one of them from 1-4)
with people wearing what looked like small cat-ear-ish looking headsets like Shinji and the other eva pilots wore in EVANGELION, except they were fighting in what looked like a space station, with zero gravity.
If anyone could help me out that would be great.
I also may look into the Gundams, and I would like to know if they are worth it.

If I recall correctly, they were wearing some sort of suit also, most of them were female, and there was another segment of them getting captured?
Did I mention they were having a firefight in a space station? Or did I just say they were in a space station?

Bokurano, Planets... can't remember any more similar anime that I've seen.
>_<
Pani Poni Dash - Azumanga on Meth
Nerima Daikon Bros. - Same director as Excel Saga (Nabeshin's actually in it)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - I shouldn't have to explain this one
Kaiji - Gambling animu
Akagi - Mahjong animu

Because of Cartoon Net, I have been put off of so many good anime's, that I'm just afraid to start watching them. this is a shame.

i'm re-watching the subbed episodes i have, and theres not alot that would have to be modified other then the a slight zoom in on one scene.
the only thing i'm worried about is who is going to do the voice acting.

I really don't feel like staying up until the enth hour waiting for something half decent to come on CTN, and all their day shows are pure **** directed at either retards or children under the age of 10.

Funimation would be responsible for most of the dubbing that's aired on Cartoon Network. I think Shin Chan is the only one they've done themselves, at least on Adult Swim, the block Code Geass is airing on.
Anyway, while some series suffer in translation (ie Scryed) most of the flak fired at AS is fundamentalist weaboo rage over the audacity of showing anime in English.

Frankly, I prefer to watch things subbed because its how the scharaters were meant to sound.
While I detest weaboos also, 9/10 any dubbed anime will sound 'Americanized'- meaning they will try to get theAmerican equivilant of the original charicter's voice.
Especially in the case of School Rumble. The dub was worse then ****. I really wonder if they actually listen to half the **** they dub, because if they do, they would see how horribly they were butchering the character's voices.

I've heard the same rationale from dozens of weaboos on Myanimelist and /a/ and it doesn't hold a lot of water. Of course American voice actors will have American accents; does that seriously bother you more than the fact that people from other countries, hell other planets, always speak perfect Japanese in anime? Out of all the forms of entertainment out there, anime is the only one where people even feel the need to make an issue out of this sort of thing. The Simpsons purists don't go up in arms because Homer's German voice sounds nothing like the original, so why do anime fans feel the need to make sweeping generalizations about dubbing and English voice acting like "90% of it is pure ****?" Weabooism. The people who pride themselves on watching pirated fansubs over dubs are the same people who do weaboo **** like post about "Raito from Desu Noto." Seriously, with a few notable exceptions the quality is comparable so you may as well just watch whichever one is more convenient, or you know, buy the DVD and have both.

I agree. Go buy the DVD and watch it the way you like.
How can people seriously complain about the quality of the dub, if they don't care so much about it, that they find it worth to pay for.
I'm pretty sure, there's a connection between the effort spent on the dub and the expected sales, so go buy the stuff, if you want higher quality in future releases.

Do you even know what a weaboo is? It's someone who watches anime, TRIES AND WANTS TO BE JAPANESE, if their not, and they do quite alot of stupid ****.
I'm not Japanese. I don't want to be japanese, I don't dress how I would think a japanese person would dress. I don't dye my hair black, ect, ect, I don't dress up as anime characters, ect ,ect ,ect.
Calling someone a weaboo because they prefer anime in *shock* it's original language, with similar sounding voices *end shock* is just plain ignorant. I haven't made sweeping generalizations. I said a while ago that I have watched Chobits and one or two other animes dubbed.
You can't honestly say that every dub is a work of art. I have seen my FAIR SHARE of **** dubs, and now I stay away from them completely, because from what I have seen, they aren't as good as the real thing. I have seen a few eps of
EVA dubbed, hated Shinji's voice. Saw one of Azumanga dubed, it sounded wrong. Saw part of one of School rumble, thought:"my god **** is nothing what this character sounds like. He dosen't even LOOK like he would sound like that", and stopped watching it.
Also, just so you know a weaboo is essentially a racist. They can't tell the difference- and wouldn't bother to tell the diference between a japanese person and a chinese person for instance.
I may not be able to either because I have only seen around 5-10 asian people in my life, but I would be DAMNED if I called any of them from any specific country without asking first. Then I would probably lose interest after a few minutes of conversing and wander away.
Oh, and a weaboo also tried to pick up on Japanese by watching anime. I know about one or two words (yes, and some dirivation of thanks), and from what I have seen they change from anime to anime, dialects or whatever.
if you want to know what a real weaboo is, go to ED and search for it. Racist bull**** aside, it's right on the money. Also, someone I used to work got his picture putup there. first on on the right. I was pretty surprised when I saw it, if it's still there.

Apparently 2 or 3 series = 90% of the anime that's been dubbed. Or maybe that number was just a sweeping generalization based on a small amount of observed data.

the biggest problem between dubs and subs is effectively the familiarity with the voice actors.
after you've watched an entire series subbed and have gotten used to the voices of the characters, going and watching it dubbed is gonna cause some problems.
it'd be like having a friend and there voice suddenly changing, its weird, not horrendous, but weird and unfamiliar and people usually don't like the unfamiliar.

This position seems just as extreme as the one held by the people you are accusing of being racist. Except it contains actual hate of a group of people instead of simple misunderstanding/obsession. I'm not condoning the behavior of weaboos, but I definitely think you should consider your words carefully to avoid hypocrisy.

If I remember correctly, this was exactly how Dominic of Megatokyo learned how to speak Japanese. He played a lot of Sakura Wars over the summer once and picked it up from the synchronized dubbing and subtitling.

Well, i'm getting to watch the first episode of Code Geass Dubbed, some of the voices some very familiar, most likely voice actors from other series adultswim has done.
It airs tonight at 1:30.
Lelouch's voice seems right, but i can't help but feel like its a bored slightly arrogant ichigo voice.
Rival's is a bit squeaky, but might work.
Shirley and Milley's voices feel odd, so does Kallen/Karen. Maybe thats because i'm used to hearing them in japanese and the tones and pitches of the feel off by an octave or portion here or there...
I have no complaints about Suzaku's voice actor...
C.C.s voice actor, i could swear i've heard before, she keeps making me think of Eureka Seven...
So far... its working, i keep noticing phases that have been re-worded for smoother English, but that always happens...
Well, i'm gonna head back to watching, my buffering should be catching up again.

It's not a simple misunderstanding though. They honestly don't give a **** if they called a Japense person Chinese or a chinese Person Korean, or whatever combonation you want. Having the belife that 'They all look the same to me' is racist. Also, how would that be hypocritical? I never said that I hated asian people.
"Dominic of Megatokyo"- I have no idea what you are talking about. If whoever it is did learn that way, then fine. Weaboos use overused phrares again and again the wrong way. If he truly learned japense that way then good for him, he saved some money instead of going to a laungauge tutoring place.
I doubt you can truely learn a forign language totaly different form you're own by simply watching entertainment in that language dubbed and subbed, but if he did then perhaps it is possible.
As for the things I have seenand heard in terms of dubbing, yes that is based on what I have seen/seen parts of, heard from sources both here and in real life.
So: back to the original argument: How is it weabooish to say something like "I like wathcing anime's subbed, because I feel dubed versions americanize it" that's like saying that all foriegn films should be dubbed in english, or whatever you natural language is. By americanization I mean they take a character, and get a voice actor to portray his steroetype, rather then the character.
I can't claim that this is true for all anime, but what I have seen and heard about various animes this is the case.
An example is School rumble. The Delinquent guy (don't remember his name) was dubbed he sounded like an extremely sterotypical punk. In the sub he sounds nothing like that.
