Final fantasy is one of those series that some days you wish would just go and die, and other days you hope it will live for eternity.

I just wish it had a better name, because NONE of them have been "final"

little side note: all the FF games are connected by a time-line except for the tactics series and the newest one that took place in that series.

I'll explain... i advise not reading past this if you plan on playing FFI ever its technically a spoiler for that game.





At the end of Final Fantasy I, the original one, your party "accidentally" destroys a crystal that apparently controlled time or fate or something like that and the world became doomed to repeat this grisly fate for all eternity.

all the early FF games had a similar plot, so this made sense, and the time-lines between them would span quite a few thousand years.

This can be displayed by placing there world maps side by side, there is a noticeable continental drift, and since the time-line is so long theres time for history to be forgotten and event repeat themselves.

this works until about FF6 (3 here in the states), which has that nice backstory about an empire of technology conquering the world and the world falling into darkness for many many years. This was the first one that seemed to break the loop, at least for a little while.

FF7 had trouble fitting into the loop after FF6, but thats because time-line wise FF7 happens first, the empire that rose and fell before FF6 was the civilization that existed in FF7, this explains all the weirdness, at least mostly.

The newer FF's take place in a mixture of places in the over-all time-line, they are rather hard to pin down so far.



so really, its all one big story, i hope it has a good ending, i'll probably 3,000 years old by the time we get there thou...

you can beat FFI is under an hour. Explanation below, beware if you don't want to know










The first boss and the last boss are the same guy and the fights take place in the same room, the first time you beat him the whole place starts falling apart and you're told to run, but if you reenter the room right after leaving (theres like maybe 5 spaces between you and the exit after you leave the room) it starts up the final battle of the game, which, surprisingly is beatable with the early level characters.

When Final Fantasy I came out in Japan it came out as Final Fantasy I in America. But the Japanese Final Fantasy II and III never got released in America. The Japanese Final Fantasy IV got released as Final Fantasy II in America, to avoid confusion. No II and III, so they can't call it IV. V never came out so VI was Final Fantasy III in America.

After that Squaresoft took over, and they stopped ****ing around with the release titles. Final Fantasy VII was released at Final Fantasy VII. Confusion started.
American releases:
- FF I
- FF II
- FF III
- FF VII ?? WTF? Where are IV, V and VI?

So FF II, III and V in Japan, never got released untill very much later.

Why would you not play Japanese versions? I got a few Japanese games for the PS2, which aren't even released in English

I can't read all Japanese. Especially Kanji is a bitch. But I can read hiragana and katakana, but that doesn't mean I know all translations. I can understand the talking better than I can read :P

But its not that hard to play a Japanese game :P I like to play them. Its nice to see anime on your playstation when you follow the series ^^ Only the menu sucks sometimes to read. And sometimes they are in Kanji. Its just trial and error :P Accel is in Katakana though, and are English words so .. easy

I got Naruto Shippuuden Narutimate Accel 1 and 2
Rurouni Kenshin: Enjou! Kyoto Rinne
Bleach Blade Battlers 2nd
Battle Stadium D.O.N

Those aren't released in English, and the Accel are part 4 and 5 in a series.. only part 1 and 2 were released here...

:D I don't really think Naruto is a great game. :D

I don't have PS (actually a have but it's another story)) so i play only best games (multiplatform/ROM/ports/ISO/PBP) and they are usually translated. But if you're a PS fan i think you would enjoy j-versions.
But i'm shure that FF is more playable on english or... (i have russian FFV :D)

I ment the Playstation 2, but whatever :P And we were talking about the Japanese versions from a few FF games, since they weren't released in English at first. 8 years later they were released in English.

And I like Naruto Accel 1 and 2 on the PS2. Pretty enjoyable 'beat-the-****-out-of-whoever' games ^^ And the story mode is nice to :D

As for me - when first FF's came out i wasn't able to play it in any case. :D So 8 years is pretty good for me. :D When i played NES in the age 4-6 i wouldn't enjoy it anyway, i payed Contra and Chip&Dale and didn't even know what JRPG is. :D So how old you must be if you used to play FF when it came out in japaneese? :D (1987)

FF III on NES is FF III in Japan. :D (I am not american :D )
FF VI is FF VI in Japan and it came out on SNES.

It's rotten theme just forget about this. :D It's just to confuse, nothing else. Yes, all english translations appeared much later when emulators appeared. But IMHO it's not bag since it was right time for me to play 'em.

I liked hadheld gaming until the DS and PSP came out. The PSP isn't anything special. AND IT HAS ONE DAMN ANALOG STICK!
And yes the DS is a pre-school piece of ****.

Sony is still the console king in my opinion.

No. I mean yes but not avi. :D Mp4 works. (at least) even with h264.
Just get a new converter. It should support PSP resolution and compression.

there's no chip inside it's all SOFT :D

but there's a problem - if your buying a new one, software can be new too, which is bad, cuz it's not crackable. The only way is Pandora. (Battery that deletes you SS and installs a new one)
But i could be not free cuz when battery is uncharged you have to get rid of it. (it's unchargable in other words :D)

Well yah I know all that. I get all the mags I am well informed on the PSP. It is just that I am not into handheld gaming.....so to ME it's nothing special.
