Alright, you may be wondering : what the hell is with this threat title? Does TEoATG even know what it means?

The answer Mutants, and Freaks is no. Which is kinda ironic because I used it in the title.

SO:

Interrogative 1: What exactly does 'Yatta' Or 'Yata" or whatever mean? I have heard it used both as a joyous exclamation and as a yell of despair.

Also, In Japan, what is the word for 'No?' Is it like spanish where it is the same as english? I highly doubt this, but I have seen it used only on occasion. In fact the only time I have seen 'No' used in an anime is in excel saga, and then it is used interchangeable with said 'Yatta'.

Also, it sounds very odd, and unnatural in comparison with the flow of the rest of the speech hearing it in a sub, so thats another reason why I thought that they just threw it in there for kicks.

I REALLY like excel saga, the Pedro or Mr Pe side story is great.

but just don't tell that Gomez I said that.

Alright, I am actually learning Japanese right now. "No" in Japanese is "EE-eh", with the first syllable somewhat elongated. Actually, it ends up sounding a lot like the english "yeah" when said with uncertainty: "yeeah...", but with less "ah" and more "eh" (pronounced like the name of the letter A).

As far as I know it's only used as a celebrative. Perhaps the character who said it out of despair was being sarcastic?

Kinda like "Oh well!"

Oh Yatta! That makes a lot of sense actually. Well, talking to myself here... I think that this should turn into the japanese language thread. What's the funniest word you know in Japanese that was adopted from a western language?

Eg: Roketo!

Did you read the reviews for Konokon on Anime News Network? They're really funny. "If you think you'd like a show that could be sub-titled 'I Lost My Cherry to a Crazy Fox Demon', than Konokon is for you"
