^ I am a sucker for cheap, cheap, paranormal romance books (think twilight and you get the basic idea).

< below is one of my favorite laught atl oud scenes, from 'The accidental human" by Dakota Cassidy:

characters: Marty: a weakened, pregnant werewolf, friend of Nina and wanda. Married to Keegan.
Nina: fledging female vampire, friend of Marty and wanda. Married to Greg.
Wanda: at start of the book is a human, dying of cancer, debating on asking her immortal friends for help in cheatign death.
Greg: powerful 500 year old vampire, married to Nina.
Keegan: powerful Alpha male of the werewolves, married to Marty.

Set up: Wanda asks MArty and Nina to bite her. She gets drunks, and says she doesn't care what supernatural creature she becomes, so long as she doesn't die. Marty bites her first, but nothign seems to happen. Nina bites her a few hours later, and the reaction of both bites over whelms her body, and Wanda turns into a unknown new part werewolv, part vampire creature, more powerful than Nina or Marty. The two women distract her wolf side with a steak, while the women call for help from thier powerful husbands. Were-wanda forces a fight however before they arrive, and Nina and Marty barely manage to subdue Wanda to the ground, when Greg and Keegan come in to help.

"Greg burst through the front door first, Keegan came up shortly behind him to Nina with one leg securely wrapped around what was once wanda's human head, her grip white knuckles, on Wanda's now fuzzy ears. Marty sat on top of her, dangling araw pork chop over her snarling, dripping teeth.

Greg was the first to speak. 'Ladies.'
Keegan's eyes narrowed. 'So I see we have a problem.'

Nina grunted, gripping a snarling, seetinhing Wanda tighter, fighting to keep her in check. 'GREGORI STATLEON, if you don't bring your vampire ass over here this ****ing second and help me hold her down, I swear to christ, there'll be no more 'poor lost maiden in a snowstorm in the Swiss Alps who needs a big, brawny, mountain man to save her' nights for you, buddy!"

Marty dropped the pork chop on the floor. 'You. Do. Not.'

Nina's face contourted. 'Shut the **** up, Marty."


I was laughing hysterically, to be honest. I love this series :)

< i used to play MERP (DnD light) and had several odd characters with speech impediments. one was mute, and that meant i couldn't talk at all during our gaming sessions to properly role play that. I had to buy paper and ink in the game to justify writing notes to the GM lol. i've done characters in silly accents, and even did a guy who could only speak in AR NOLD quotes. Just because i could.

^ i LOVE it, actually. when I moved out of my parent's house, I looked at college's in Vermont, Alaska, and Minnesota (a campus 10 miles from the official coldest spot on the continentel USA).

< still, as I get older, I like the cold less, which makes me sad. i used to be able to walk outside in 30 degree whether in a skirt, no problem. Now i have a coat designed foe tempertures of -40 degrees. I love my super coat, but I hate how i need it.
