One version of Amv Hell 7 being ready for showing at Otakon sounds possible. The reception Zarx gets and what he feels to tighten it up afterwards depends on how long it is for online release.

There shouldn't be an overhaul like AMV 6 so with the current timeline of Zarx's efforts and predicted date and If all continues as is, finished version I est early September if not late october. Its a wide net however its a likely net, anything sooner is only a nice surprise.

Riffing doesn't work that way, you can't do jokes over jokes. The best take is to just Dub a series with a group of like minded people who can run-off with each others jokes...they also need to be funny and have great timing.

Here is an idea if video of a reaction is too much, do a reaction track. Much like how the MTS3K guys are doing tracks you play over the video. A mp3 you play with the video and can HEAR the reactions, dont know if that would work ultimately.

Depending on how much of 7 that you can hear in the laugh track,

It wasn't because of the negative comments. I never really felt like releasing it in the first place. The only reason I finally did is because I felt obligated to for some reason.

And believe or not Law, people CAN change. Humans CAN improve. I DO have the ability to adjust my viewpoints when said viewpoints are proven false.

Also, that MEP was never intended to make me famous or w/e. I did it simply because I noticed a lot of my clip ideas involved wrestling, and thought that I could actually make something like that work. Guess what? I couldn't. Guess what else? I LEARNED.

Two video files in the same torrent confuses aswell as makes the download size double for little reason, two download links for the same thing confuses. Dosnt matter if there is a thousand labels describing it, people are going to click the wrong one.

Its not alot of extra work, however the ripple effect can be more hassle to the user on the other.

Why complicate matters for a few clips that if they were cut probably meant they didnt stand up to the rest of the clips in the project.

I say this with my clips on the chopping block, I not going to lie to save my clips.

I'd say just put the clips that are cut for time into their own file, then leave the final transition before the credits just a bit longer. That way, if someone wants to see the extended edition, they can just crop from the last transition and drop the other file in place before the credits. Bitches can do some of the work themselves.



Of course, you can always just wait for the video to be released and avoid making an ass of yourself.

Yeah, that might be a tad too much. Going by that suggestion's sequence of events, there's going to be one folk (if it isn't somebody else, it's going to be me personally) who's going to do the work for them and put it up on YouTube, and he's going to get credit for doing something it shouldn't have been done in the first place.

One, simple release. No need to tangle this. People should ask for permission if they're showing it at cons, and then Zarx can provide them with whatever they might need, be it the con version of the video or whatever.

I have mixed feelings about this, to be honest.

On one hand, it gives off the same feel that all the previous videos had. Lets you know that what you are watching is, in fact, an AMV Hell video. The same AMV Hell you grew up with (or whatever). Nostalgia!

On the other hand, I think it'd be kinda cool to have a more modern-looking TV transistion. Make AMV Hell look like it's keeping up with the times, and maybe even doing a good job of it! (depending on the quality of the clips, obviously). Future-proof, baby!

Overall I'd say it kinda depends on the resolution of the clips. If the majority uses videos from 480p sources, for example, the "vintage" transistion would work well. If the majority actually uses 720p or even 1080p sources, a more "modern" transistion would probably work better.

Not bad, just might be a little odd to move back to the old school transition right as we're releasing in HD for the first time.
Noticed the color seems a little plain as well compared to the more recent ones. Hell 5 had a moving fiery transition, 6.66 had a gradient color that matched the forum header.

I have mixed feelings about this, to be honest.

On one hand, it gives off the same feel that all the previous videos had. Lets you know that what you are watching is, in fact, an AMV Hell video. The same AMV Hell you grew up with (or whatever). Nostalgia!

On the other hand, I think it'd be kinda cool to have a more modern-looking TV transistion. Make AMV Hell look like it's keeping up with the times, and maybe even doing a good job of it! (depending on the quality of the clips, obviously). Future-proof, baby!

Overall I'd say it kinda depends on the resolution of the clips. If the majority uses videos from 480p sources, for example, the "vintage" transistion would work well. If the majority actually uses 720p or even 1080p sources, a more "modern" transistion would probably work better.

I concur. I think a more modern feel may give off a vibe of moving forward with AMV Hell to a new season and time.

I have finally gotten everything out of the maybe folder.
Ended up remastering 5 videos myself.

This weekend I start processing the clips to make them all a uniform format. Nothing new or changed gets in from this point, unless I find a really bad error in a video that absolutely needs to be fixed.

I received 740 video files in total. It only comes up to 13.6gb.
292 of those are accepted videos, leaving 448 that were rejected.
Almost 40% of videos were accepted, though this was heavily weighted by a small handful of editors who fairly consistently submitted good stuff.

Hmmm... predicaments, predicaments.

I was able to go through all of the accepted entries and do some video processing and also actually watch all of them again.
It looks like accounting for the opening scene, and also accounting for some time that can be shaved off from some of the clips, we are right at 85 minutes.
Which is exactly the time frame I am aiming for.
But... that doesn't account for the ending credits, which will probably be another several minutes. There will probably have to be some more cuts. I'm going through now and selecting some more to drop out.

Just got back from my front row seat at the first Otakon screening, gents. To give context to a few observations below, this screening was in a panel room of less than 100, not Video 1 (Hall A - which is where they always show the AMV contest, which holds 1k+) which is where I half expected it to be shown. There was not an empty seat in the house and there was no room clear beforehand (which is fine) so the majority of the folks in the screening where those who had sat through the hour long "My Little Pony Parody: YouTube is Magic." Also, I had a score sheet & a pen that I used to keep tally of how many times things that I expected would happen, happened. These are any observation with numbers below. *I'm going to try and avoid spoilers. If you have a problem with this sort of thing, read at your own caution.

Here are a few observations:
- There were significantly more big laughs than *crickets*.
- The majority of the big laughs were to spoken audio clips.
- There were 9 clips that had next to no reaction at all (2 of which were clips I made, so yay?)
- There were very few drawn out setups that didn't pay off. In fact, I'd be interested to see the average clip length in AMV Hell 7 versus its predecessors. I'd be willing to bet this one is up there.
- People are still compelled to sing Welcome to the Space Jam when they hear it.
- While I knew of the overabundance of Family Guy sources beforehand, it never got groan worthy "oh, this again" for me.
- Boobs were the central gag of more clips than I expected.
- My row did not understand the pre title screen clip section, which seemed to indicate they hadn't seen many AMV Hell productions.
- Kill la Kill & Titan got their popularity nods, but they were spaced out enough not to be overly noticeable.
- This screening audience seemed to really enjoy violence towards women.
- This audience seemed to not yet be over Grave of the Fireflies.
- The overall quality of the source video for the clips in this project was good. I can't remember any point saying "wow, that's grainy as ****."
- The screening seemed to benefit from the smaller room in that the speakers at the front weren't turned up so high as to blow the first few rows back with bass. After a few big laughs spilled over into the next clip and folks missed the setup and just heard the punchline, the audience started to learn to laugh. see the clip transition. then quickly shut the hell up. This made me happy.
- 11 clips got the audience to clap along to the beat. Only 6 of those times did the screening room actually keep the right beat.
- I heard groans or an audible "Really?!" out of disgust or "too soon" from the contents of 19 clips. (In my opinion, none were justified.)
- The credits gave me goosebumps.

That's really all I can remember at the moment. I tried to make notes, but writing legibly on the back of a scorecard that was balanced on my lap in the dark proved more difficult than I thought. All in all, I think you're going to enjoy it. I give it a solid B, knowing that most of my nitpicks will most likely be addressed when I can sit in my own chair, with an adult beverage & a rewind/pause button, with the home version. Well done and attaboys all around.

Despite having staked claim to my seat in the amv theater for the majority of the day (they had some decent programming) I am unable to complete my report. This is probably for the best, as I am susceptible to brow beating and would have most likely spilled everything after a few asks. Now it will come as more of a surprise to you when you see the digital release. I feel bad that I am unable to assist Zarx in the slightest (though, SSG was there so he may have some input,) so I will accept whatever punishment game is decided. Even if it's watching the drop it challenge for hours on end.

1. To give those who weren't able to see it last night a chance.

2. The AMV Theater was already packed thanks to the results of the AMV Contest.

Anyways, I can see the reason for the room clear, for a number of reasons.

You're correct. It was added to the app late afternoon. I was already in the room at that point (had my seat at 3:30,) so what reason did I have to check the app? Well, for that reason, apparently, but I didn't think it was possible for them to decide on a room clear in the afternoon but not to decide one in the morning.

Also, I disagree completely with the notion of room clears added after the fact. I understand things come up and things change, but you mean to tell me because Otakon underestimated the crowd size significantly, that they can just change the rules mid game and effect us folks who had the foresight to plan our seats for big events? What message does that send? "OK, you can go to the panel in this room, but you have to leave a quarter to halfway through as to allow time to then get in line to get back into this room for what is to follow." Is that really what we're talking about? Folks can cry "fair" all they want, but if someone (myself) wants to sit in a seat for 7 hours to ensure that I'm there for something, I'm foregoing the rest of con to do so. Instead, we're going to reward the guy who could have been doing anything up until half an hour before the panel and decided on a whim to stand in queue? Bollocks to that.

the intro was horrendous it was just one long clip of lip syncing (done poorly) and was stupidly long. All of the comedy was the original audio source and had nothing to do with the clip itself.

It had some nice compositing in places and excellent lip-syncing, but the video doesn’t enhance the audio clips which are already funny on their own.
Watch it again with your monitor switched off. There will be practically no difference in your level of enjoyment.

So, having just watched salad 7, I can say it was one giant snoozefest. The only good ones were the Sprint clips and Weasel Stomping Day.

They were too short to establish a joke. Just punchlines where you're expected to laugh.

No I did check the credits and the video's and could not find that exact clip of which I know I saw somewhere but cannot find it with the best bet being Challenge 13 and it was not the exact clip. As I did view AMV Salad Attack on Titan clip and went "if this is the same clip then it lingers a bit too long at the end....yup...this seems like the same clip I saw."

So either your credits failed and missed something out or it does not exist within the AMV Hell name and I saw it elsewhere.

The process of thought was "I have seen that Wrecking ball clip in AMV Salad before. Let me find it, I think it was in AMV hell Challenge 13 as it was the most Wrecking ball heavy." I checked that video and could not find the exact clip, so I checked the AMV Hell Credits of chaz and only found three mentions, I double checked challenge 21 the Reject challenge incase I saw it there the credit's do not say so. I now figure I saw it else were if it was, or someone in the chatbox went "I did this...not going to submit it." It was so long ago.

Hmm, yeah I submitted a few clips to Salad that were also in amv Hell(amv hell 5 to be precise). I noticed you always see a couple of the real funny clips in both Hell and Salad. Not everyone who watches one, watches the other as well. I didnt think the people who watch both would mind if I touched up a couple of my amv hell 5 clips from forever ago and send em to salad.

My slayers always clip though I actually made for Amv Salad. I just happened to have made it around the same time the valentine's day minis challenge was posted, and it was the only idea I had at the time that fit the love themed minis challenged.

oh well, maybe they werent funny enough for some people to enjoy again. Was stupid to do I guess, sorry.

Weasel stomping in salad was mine also. Its exactly 30 sec (as thats what the limit was) I fighured the joke was too simple to drag out. If the song seemed strangely short, its cuz I spliced it a LOT. I also couldnt find too many more shots of the puchu`s getting smashed/killed in a way I liked for the clip. Perhaps I shoulda made it longer anyway?

*edit* another thing: while you may not of INTENDED to be arrogant, it's still pretty arrogant to think you're clips are "too good" for the minis when you've NEVER submitted ANYTHING to ANY Hell video before. You're not Walt Disney, with YEARS of what are considered MASTERPIECES under your belt. (before he died....) Even if your clip is as good as you think it is (again, I highly doubt it), you're still brand-new, PERIOD. Don't go expecting Walt's fame when you don't have Walt's experience. Start at the bottom of the ladder, like everyone else did and has to (including Walt, BTW).

I find my clip funny, however even I think the best ones out there are 10 seconds long MAX and this one isnt. well it could but then i'd be cutting out the ending which is also funny. Acceptance and rejection is all up in the air. I thought this clip was mines was freaking awesome and on some level I still do, however it never made it because it was not funny. Which is correct mostly, it COULD be funny to the right person...buuut....it is has so many layers to it even the right person might not like the clip. I think the quality came out great and there is not much I could do to improve the clip, however flat out it is never going to be a show stopper no matter what the clip does right. It is not a bad clip and neither is it good, it is just a clip. So hamper all expectations.-

That's no excuse. Other people being **** does NOT automatically make you good. If anything, it increases the likelihood that you are also ****. (the whole "me too!" mentatilty and whatnot) When I start seeing good clips from you, I'll consider you to be a good editor. Until then, you're a rookie.

I'm not trying to be an asshole, I just don't want you to go around thinking you're a better editor than anyone else when you haven't even proven anything yet.

I apply the same rules to myself, BTW. When I sell millions of copies of my comic books/manga/whatever, then I'll talk like I'm actually pretty damn good. Until then, I'm not gonna act like I'm Leonardo da Vinci reincarnated.

I am releasing a torrent to allow people to PRE-LOAD AMV Hell 7.
You will NOT be able to watch it until it is formally released on October 4th.
This is basically an encrypted 7-zip file which is password protected (you will need 7-zip or winrar or something similar to extract it). The only purpose of this existing is so that people on slow connections will be able to get a head start on downloading it. It will also allow people to help out with seeding when the real torrent is released.

On October 4th, I plan to have the following viewing options available immediately at launch: Youtube (as long as its not blocked), direct download via animemusicvideos.org, and bittorrent download. There will also POSSIBLY be a live stream scheduled.
So again, if you are fine with those options, you can simply ignore this. This is just for people who want to be able to watch it the moment its released without having to wait for hours downloading over a slow connection.

I have streaming with chat abilities but with AMV HELL 7 I think the demand would be too much for my server and bandwidth. Since a few of us have Livestream one of us could stream it if needed but I don't think doing a live stream would work well for most due to bandwidth since we'd want a good feed. Best option for using Livestream would be to have it uploaded before hand and post an event time.

The account I use doesn't require payment for chat or anything. I set it up maybe a couple of years ago and non-registered channels usually are free.

After a bit of checking you can just set up a free account no problem. Only thing is, people who want to see it would have to log in with their livestream accounts.

Eh... the livestream site is so confusing. I signed up and I tried to create an event. There is a checkbox to enable Live Chat, but its unavailable and there is a button right under it that says "upgrade to enable this feature".
So either I'm doing something completely wrong, or maybe you guys got grandfathered in on some earlier free accounts that had better features?

You know people will post their opinions of each clip in this thread as they watch it so I think the chat is kind of unnecessary

They make you do all the damn event setup before you can stream, its not like some of the other sites that just let you play and go. You shouldn't have to set anything last I remember, the chat should be available once the stream is running.

I was gonna say I could throw money in for a stream sccount but the pricing is dumb for such things.

I can stream it on twitch for you if you want since there are only rules against making an account to stream only non game content and I constantly stream minesweeper so it should be fine.

there are two versions of livestream. One makes you pay for simple **** and one doesnt and they purposefully do not make that obvious. (also their official streaming program is a piece of **** that purposefully uses more of your system resources in order to reduce your stream quality and try to get you to purchase their better service)

Anyone know what are some good options for live streaming with chat?
I use Ustream and FFsplit to stream in HD. Completely free and very easy to set up by my standards.
I'll also volunteer to stream myself, but it's easy enough to do it yourself as well.

Throw the live stream to one of the mods who have volunteered and we watch from there, if it breaks it breaks.
