Norway suspect deems killings atrocious but needed

SUNDVOLLEN, Norway (Reuters) - A suspected right-wing fanatic accused of killing at least 92 people deemed his acts "atrocious" yet "necessary" as Norway mourned victims of the nation's worst attacks since World War Two.
Police were hunting on Sunday to see if a possible second gunman took part in the shooting massacre and bomb attack on Friday that traumatized a normally peaceful Nordic country.
In his first comment via a lawyer since he was arrested, 32-year-old Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik expressed willingness to explain himself in court at a hearing likely to be held on Monday about extending protective custody.
"He has said that he believed the actions were atrocious, but that in his head they were necessary," lawyer Geir Lippestad told independent TV2 news.
Police said Breivik gave himself up after admitting to a massacre in which at least 85 people died, mostly young people attending a summer camp of the youth wing of Norway's ruling Labour Party on an idyllic island.
Breivik was also arrested for the bombing of Oslo's government district that killed seven people hours earlier. Norway's toughest sentence is 21 years in jail.

Britain's "Rehab" singer Amy Winehouse dies aged 27
http://www.reuters.com/resources/r/?m=02&d=20110723&t=2&i=464672801&w=&fh=&fw=&ll=600&pl=390&r=2011-07-23T180303Z_01_BTRE76M1E5800_RTROPTP_0_BRITAIN-WINEHOUSE
(Reuters) - Amy Winehouse, one of the most talented singers of her generation whose hit song "Rehab" summed up her struggles with addiction, died in London on Saturday at the age of 27.
The Grammy winner, famed for her black beehive hair, soulful voice and erratic behavior on and off stage, was found dead at her new home in Camden a month after a shambolic performance in Serbia forced her to cancel her entire European tour.
Police were called to the address at around 1500 GMT and nearly five hours later the body was removed for a post mortem after it appeared she had lost her battle with drink and drugs.
"Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death," said police superintendent Raj Kohli. "At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident."
He said reports that Winehouse had died of a suspected drugs overdose were speculation at this stage.
Family members had long warned that Winehouse's lifestyle, which saw her in and out of rehab and blighted her career as a live and recording artist, could be her downfall.
Her last filmed performance was in Serbia in June, when Winehouse was jeered by the crowd as she struggled to perform her songs and stay upright. On some tunes, the audience did most of the singing.
The gig, posted on the YouTube video sharing site, prompted her management to cancel all scheduled performances and give the performer as long as it took to recover.
Winehouse's record label Universal said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer. Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time."
Around 50 shocked fans and onlookers as well as camera crews and photographers gathered behind police tape blocking off the leafy street where Winehouse had just moved into a new house.
A few left flowers, candles and a teddy bear. One note of condolence read: "Beautiful Amy, night night, sleep tight."

Yemen uprising
A car bomb blast has killed at least five Yemeni soldiers in the coastal city of Aden, officials say.
Several others were injured in the blast which hit as troops with supplies were preparing to leave for the nearby province of Abyan.
Officials said they were being sent to fight al-Qaeda linked militants.
Yemen has been plagued by political unrest for months, including clashes in the south between security forces and Islamist militants.
Aden, the strategic southern port city, has remained generally calm despite unrest in neighbouring southern provinces.
Opposition parties in Yemen have been trying to prevent the return of President Ali Abdullah Saleh from Saudi Arabia, where he has been recovering from wounds sustained in an attack on his presidential palace in June.
US and Yemeni officials have repeatedly expressed concern that al-Qaeda linked militants have been taking advantage of a power vacuum in Sanaa to expand their operations.
Protesters have been calling for the ousting of the veteran president in mass street protests since January.

'Spider-Man' Villain Rhys Ifans Arrested for Battery at Comic-Con

"The Amazing Spider-Man" villain Rhys Ifans was arrested and cited for misdemeanor battery for shoving a female security guard before Friday night's Comic-Con panel for the film, police tell TheWrap.
Ifans, who smelled of alcohol, became irate when a member of his entourage was unable to enter the hall for lack of proper credentialing, police said. They said he shoved the guard in order to pass through, and was allowed to participate in the panel, but the guard subsequently made a citizen's arrest.

old news but kinda new to see any actual reporting on it.
Anonymous: We Hacked NATO
Anonymous said Thursday morning that it had breached the databases of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and was sitting on about 1GB of data.
"Yes, #NATO was breached. And we have lots of restricted material. With some simple injection. In the next days, wait for interesting data," the group tweeted via the @AnonymousIRC feed.
The group said it "cannot" publish most of the data because that "would be irresponsible." This morning, it did post a link to a restricted NATO PDF, which Anonymous said related to the outsourcing of a communications and information system in Kosovo in 2008, but the doc crashed because of too many connections. Last night, it posted a 2007 document about a similar IT project in Afghanistan.
A NATO spokesman told the Telegraph that it is investigating the claims.
The move comes about two months after NATO called out Anonymous in a draft general report about information and national security. That report noted that "Anonymous is becoming more and more sophisticated and could potentially hack into sensitive government, military, and corporate files."
NATO pointed to Anonymous' February hack of HBGary Federal, which happened days after the firm's then-CEO Aaron Barr told the Financial Times that he knew and planned to expose the identities of leaders behind the Anonymous collective. The subsequent Anonymous attack resulted in the defacing of Barr's online networking profiles and exposure of 71,800 e-mails at AnonLeaks, prompting Barr's resignation.
"It remains to be seen how much time Anonymous has for pursuing such paths," NATO concluded. "The longer these attacks persist the more likely countermeasures will be developed, implemented, the groups will be infiltrated and perpetrators persecuted."
In response, Anonymous said NATO and HBGary Federal were corrupt. "If the government was doing nothing underhand or illegal, there would be nothing 'embarassing' about Wikileaks revelations, nor would there have been any scandal emanating from HBGary," Anonymous said at the time. "Our message is simple: do not lie to the people and you won't have to worry about your lies being exposed."
Anonymous also warned NATO not to "make the mistake of challenging Anonymous."
The organization apparently did not heed that warning in Anonymous' eyes. "Hi NATO. Yes we haz more of your delicious data. You wonder where from? No hints, your turn. You call it war; we laugh at your battleships," Anonymous tweeted later this morning.
This hack comes days after the FBI arrested 16 individuals with alleged links to Anonymous, specifically the cyber attack on PayPal in the wake of the Wikileaks document dump. In an interview with NPR, the FBI said the arrests were intended to send the message that "chaos on the Internet is unacceptable," which did not sit well with Anonymous.
In a separate statement, Anonymous accused the FBI of lying to Americans with fear-based tactics and conspiring with corporations and lobbyists.
"These governments and corporations are our enemy. And we will continue to fight them, with all methods we have at our disposal, and that certainly includes breaking into their websites and exposing their lies," Anonymous said.
Anonymous maintained that officials cannot "arrest an idea."

slo Shooter Anti-Muslim Christian Extremist
The death toll in Norway?s deadliest day of terrorism is up to 91. The man behind it, 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik, is a frequent poster of anti-Muslim screeds on Christian fundamentalist websites.
AP (?91 killed in Norway island massacre, capital blast?):
A Norwegian dressed as a police officer gunned down at least 84 people at an island youth retreat before being arrested, police said Saturday. Investigators are still searching the surrounding waters, where people fled the attack, which followed an explosion in nearby Oslo that killed seven.
The mass shootings are among the worst in history. With the blast outside the prime minister?s office, they formed the deadliest day of terror in Western Europe since the 2004 Madrid train bombings killed 191.
Police official Roger Andresen told reporters that the total death toll was now 91 and that a suspect was in custody being questioned for both assaults and is cooperating with the investigators.
Though police did not release his name, Norwegian national broadcaster NRK identified him as 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik and said police searched his Oslo apartment overnight. NRK and other Norwegian media posted pictures of the blond, blue-eyed Norwegian.
?He is clear on the point that he wants to explain himself,? Roger Andresen told reporters Saturday.
National police chief Sveinung Sponheim told NRK that the suspected gunman?s Internet postings ?suggest that he has some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views, but whether that was a motivation for the actual act remains to be seen.?
Andersen said the suspect posted on websites with Christian fundamentalist tendencies. He did not describe the websites in any more details.
A police official said the suspect appears to have acted alone in both attacks, and that ?it seems like this is not linked to any international terrorist organizations at all.? The official spoke on condition of anonymity because that information had not been officially released by Norway?s police.
?It seems it?s not Islamic-terror related,? the official said. ?This seems like a madman?s work.?
Multiple reports say the police believe Breivik is ?linked? to the bombing as well as being the perpetrator of the shooting. ?The police have every reason to believe there is a connection between the explosions and what happened at Utoya,? the police said. Indeed, he appears to have used the bombing to set up the massacre: ?He travelled on the ferry boat from the mainland over to that little inland island posing as a police officer, saying he was there to do research in connection with the bomb blasts,? NRK journalist Ole Torp told the BBC.
While following and passing along bits of information on the breaking story yesterday on Twitter, I was taken to task by some for being too credulous and unwilling to definitively assert that al Qaeda or other Islamist terrorists were behind the attacks. As it turns out, I was actually too forward leaning in defending that as the obvious working assumption.
Breaking news and instant analysis are a bad combination. They?re also an occupational hazard of journalism and punditry.
I still recall the panicked speculation on the live coverage of the aftermath of the assassination attempt of President Reagan 30 years ago, including erroneous report?repeated on all three of the American broadcast networks?that White House press secretary James Brady had died from his wounds. ABC News anchor Frank Reynolds, a close friend of Brady?s, had to report both the death and the error. Upon getting the welcome news, a visibly upset Reynolds exclaimed, ?Let?s get it nailed down?somebody?let?s find out! Let?s get it straight so we can report this thing accurately!?
When tragedies are unfolding and information is scant, however, the incentives are to get as much information out as fast as possible, even if much of it is inaccurate. And as much air time as possible is filled with ?experts,? whose expertise is often tangentially related to the crisis and are hamstrung by the need for rampant speculation, to do instant analysis. The inevitable result is that they will fall into their comfort zone, analyzing by drawing analogies with past events that have some similarities.
We?ve now shifted from ?this is Norway?s 9/11″ to ?this is Norway?s Oklahoma City.?
The investigators still don?t have complete information about this monstrous crime and they?re almost certainly not sharing everything they have with us. But, if the Oklahoma City analogy holds up, it would be fitting in one respect: The instant analysis in Oklahoma City was that it was the work of Islamist groups. While a natural assumption two years after the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, it was completely wrong.

Researchers in the U.K. have discovered that 15th century knights who wore heavy suits of armor into battle got tired a lot faster than soldiers who went unarmored.
Yeah seriously, THIS is why I labeled this thread "What we call the news." Because stuff like this passes for news. -_-
http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/64/64390.jpg
There was a time, back before the invention of the Uzi and the atom bomb, when the King's finest soldiers rode into battle dressed in gleaming, head-to-toe armor that protected them from the slings, arrows and pithy insults of their lower-class adversaries. Armored knights were literally the tanks of the medieval battlefield. But modern tanks aren't without their weaknesses and neither were their centuries-old counterparts. Those armor-plated duds were seriously heavy, weighing in at anywhere from 60 to 110 pounds, which lead researcher Dr. Graham Askew of the University of Leeds described as "a huge fraction of the wearer's body weight."
Enter science! Four volunteers who take part in reenactments for the Royal Armories at Leeds were suited up in "exact replica" armor from England, Gothic Germany and Italy, and then put onto a treadmill. Researchers measuring their oxygen intake, carbon dioxide production and the precise movement of their limbs found that walking and running while wearing armor required double the normal amount of energy, while the heavy breast and back plates made things even worse by preventing wearers from taking long, deep breaths.
And it's not just the raw weight that's problematic, but also how it was carried in the field. Modern soldiers carry comparable loads in backpacks, yet have far greater mobility and endurance. "We found there was a big difference: it is much more 'expensive' to carry the load as a suit of armor than it is to carry the load in a backpack," Askew said.
"We were interested to find out why that was - and one of the main reasons is that if you wear a suit of armor, a lot of the weight is carried on the legs - about 7 to 8 kilograms [15 to 17 pounds] of it," he explained. "And this means when you walk and you swing your legs, you are requiring a lot more muscular effort, and that costs you a lot more energy."
The French learned this the hard way at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, when their numerically superior force was overwhelmed and slaughtered by an invading English army after an exhausting slog through about 300 meters of mud. And while it may seem silly to "confirm" that knowledge 600 years later - "plate armor is heavy" isn't exactly the most revolutionary breakthrough ever - this is the first time that anyone's ever gone at it scientifically.
"It is interesting to use scientific method to answer these questions, and it confirms what we have always suspected - heavy armor would very much reduce your ability to run around," said Thom Richardson, keeper of armors at the Royal Armories at Leeds. But despite the obvious downsides, its value in battle was very real, he added. "No-one wears stuff on the battlefield if it isn't useful."

Lucas loses Star Wars copyright case at Supreme Court
Andrew Ainsworth with a Stormtrooper helmet Mr Ainsworth sells his Stormtrooper costumes for up to ?1,800
A prop designer who made the original Stormtrooper helmets for Star Wars has won his battle with director George Lucas over his right to sell replicas.
Andrew Ainsworth, 62, of south London, successfully argued the costumes were functional not artistic works, and so not subject to full copyright laws.
Judges at the Supreme Court upheld a 2009 Court of Appeal decision allowing Mr Ainsworth to continue selling them.
But they also ruled that the director's copyright had been violated in the US.
Mr Ainsworth told the BBC: "This is a massive victory, a total victory, we've already got the champagne out."
He said he went to court on a principle and he was not going to allow the director to "buy his soul".
'David and Goliath'
The ruling about violating US copyright was a moot point, he added, as all it meant was that he could not sell his outfits there, which he had already stopped doing.

Lucasfilm
Star Wars fight on galactic scale
"Art is like a Rodin sculpture, film production is an industry and that's what these products are, they were always industrial designs," he said.
"I am proud to report that in the English legal system David can prevail against Goliath if his cause is right. If there is a force, then it has been with me these past five years."
Both the Court of Appeal and the High Court had already ruled in Mr Ainsworth's favour in his multi-million pound battle with Mr Lucas's production company.
The father-of-two has been selling copies of his plastic composite armour and helmets - from the original 1977 film - for eight years.
He uses the same studio in Twickenham from which he made the original costumes, and charges up to ?1,800.
In 2004, Lucasfilm sued for $20m (?12m) arguing he did not hold the intellectual property rights and had no right to sell them - a point upheld by a US court.
But the judgement could not be enforced because the designer held no assets in the US, so the battle moved to the UK.
The Star Wars creator, worth an estimated ?2bn, claimed Mr Ainsworth was breaching his copyright.
He took his case to the High Court in 2008, Court of Appeal a year later, and earlier this year to the Supreme Court - the highest court in the land.
That court has now also ruled that the 3D works should not be considered sculptures, which means their copyright protection is 15 years from the date they were marketed, and had therefore expired.
But the judges agreed with Lucasfilm lawyers that the director's copyright had been violated in the US by Mr Ainsworth selling his costumes there.
They ruled that those infringed rights were enforceable in the UK, banning him from selling his outfits in the US.
'Anomaly'
A Lucasfilm spokesman said the court's decision maintained "an anomaly of British copyright law under which the creative and highly artistic works made for use in films... may not be entitled to copyright protection in the UK".
The company said that protection would have been given in "virtually every other country in the world".
On the issue of the jurisdiction of UK courts over infringements abroad, the company said: "The judgement is an important step in modernising UK law and bringing it into line with the EU."
The spokesman added: "Lucasfilm remains committed to aggressively protecting its intellectual property rights relating to Star Wars in the UK and around the globe."

Turban bomb kills mayor in southern Afghan city
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/world/2011-07/27/c_131013562.htm
Militants fighting Afghan government in a new tactic, hardly imagined by security forces, targeted and killed the mayor of Kandahar city, 450 km south of Afghan capital Kabul, in his office on Wednesday.
To target government officials, the militants had often in the past strapped explosive devices in their bodies or wore explosive vests and hunted the prey.
However, this time they organized turban bomb suicide attack in Taliban former stronghold Kandahar, officials confirmed.
"Ghulam Haider Hamidi, the mayor of Kandahar, was in meeting with some people when a man placed explosive device in his turban entered the meeting hall and blew it up, killing the mayor and injured another,"a statement released by kandahar's provincial administration said.
(and I love this last one -)

Alternatively, If you can't get out of their debt, go ****ing Germany on their asses and forever be considered the dicks of Earth.
To be fair. Germany got wrongly pinned for the WW1 Debt and, for the most part, blamed for WW1 even though I'm pretty sure it was Austria (I think) invading Serbia after their President go assassinated, however the Serbs were allies with Russia and the Germans were allies with the Austrians so... WW1 started due to muddled and mixed alliances.
So yeah, getting blamed for you ally's fault would make anyone pissed and look up to the biggest bastard on the earth, lol.
Well, a large population Texas wants to Secede from the United States, and if that happens the entire U.S. West Coast goes too do to all the debt it's in. (California is hit pretty bad) So who knows, new Civil War? (New government = New Country = no debt!)
And if China does take over, I'm moving. Or becoming a Masked Terrorist/Revolutionary/Vigilante. Censorship is a big no no.

A Texas lake that turned blood-red this summer may not be a sign of the End Times, but probably is the end of a popular fishing and recreation spot.
A drought has left the OC Fisher Reservoir in San Angelo State Park in West Texas almost entirely dry. The water that is left is stagnant, full of dead fish ? and a deep, opaque red.
The color has some apocalypse believers suggesting that OC Fisher is an early sign of the end of the world, but Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries officials say the bloody look is the result of Chromatiaceae bacteria, which thrive in oxygen-deprived water.

A Swedish man bravely furthering nuclear science in his own home has been arrested by meddlesome police.
As the popular saying goes: "Everyone needs a hobby." Some of us play videogames, some of us play sports, others collect stamps, coins or clippings of an unwitting celebrity's hair, and some of us attempt to build nuclear reactors in our kitchens.
That's how Swedish gentleman and scholar Rich Handl was spending his time when police barged into his house and arrested him for "unauthorized possession of nuclear material." Handl, who is 31 and has "always been interested in physics and chemistry," was apparently storing radioactive elements including Radium, Americium and that old-standby Uranium, in his apartment because he wanted to "see if [was] possible to split the atom at home."
Apparently, Handl's blog, in which he described his experiments, including one that went particularly awry and caused a "small meltdown" on his stove, wasn't enough to convince local authorities to pay him a visit. It took a call from the amateur scientist himself to bring to the police to his door. Worried that perhaps unleashing the power of the atom in his kitchen without any safety equipment save a sink and a box of chocopuffs might just violate a few laws, Handl made a friendly call to Sweeden's Radiation authority to make sure everything was above board. The authority responded by immediately calling the police, the bastards.
Police arrested Handl back in July but have declined to comment on the case since then. Though no "dangerous" levels of radiation were detected in his apartment, the curious Swede still could face up to two years in prison if convicted.

Drugs, Dog Orgy, a Transvestite Doctor and the Interior Minister
"On the night in question, horrific screams from the doctor's property prompted a neighbour to call the police. Killing one dog on the spot, the authorities found a naked, mangled body, next to which was a sex aid and straps. More bizarrely, the supposedly male doctor was missing an organ, and it later emerged that 'he' had been taking hormone therapy for years, having been born Maja Baricevic.
More disturbingly, the paper alleges, human semen was found at the scene, which clearly could not belong to the doctor, and an autopsy on the dogs revealed there had been sexual abuse. There were suggestions in the Slovenian media shortly afterwards that Senica was present at the scene of Baricevic's death. What is known for sure is that he did not appear for the funeral."

Four-player co-op and strong multiplayer scores points for Gears 3 in Japan.
The Xbox 360 isn't a huge hit in Japan, but that doesn't mean that a good game can't get some kudos from the Japanese gaming press. Famitsu, one of Japan's leading videogame magazines, has given Gears of War 3 a near-perfect score in its latest issue.
Famitsu's four-person panel awarded the game three tens and a nine, a score shared by only 25 other games in the magazine's 25-year history, and only beaten by a further 15. Famitsu's reviewers praised the game's graphics and multiplayer, as well as the ability to play through the story with four players. The magazine listed 15-20 hours to complete the main story, and then an infinite amount of playtime for the game's multiplayer; the publisher apparently often supplies these figures however, so make of that what you will.
Sadly, despite this excellent review, Gears 3 won't shift millions of units in Japan, because the install base just doesn't exist there. Then again, it may help Microsoft sell a few more consoles in Japan, which is good news for everyone.

gee, I can't even watch my local news without hearing about our own Spin off: Occupy Sacramento. (Which is pretty big as California has the worst state economy next to Nevada)
My personal opinion on it is that about time a group of people had enough **** and actually are trying to do something of the **** system the U.S. is becoming.
My only complaints are that they need to rally to a coherent cause so that they can be heard, and the fact they need to be more law abiding in their occupation(such as ****ting in police cars and being all around dick weeds to local businesses)
Oh and hearing Republican News commentators saying that this the start of a fascist/socialist/communist/anarchist/etc. revolution is very laughable. As if they seem to forgot America started as a Revolution against the then greatest empire on earth over similar bull**** (similar, Not Exact). (Over Taxation, and General upper class dickery)
"THEY NEED TO GET JOBS SO THEY ARE NOT IN THE STREETS HOLDING MY LIMO UP FROM GETTING A STEAK DINNER" Haha! Yeah, I hate politicians...
Yeah, and the fact that the republicans candidates during their debates are mocking the "99%" (besides Romney who figured that "99% is, in fact, ALOT of People") yeah, really helping your elections thar. Why don't you give even more tax breaks to the billionaires why you are at it?
So, guys any other thoughts on anything other that might help get our fat american asses out of the ****hole of a recession?

I'm definitely against the bank bailouts and all the crony capitalism- but otherwise there's not a whole lot they say I agree with. So- what are they standing for?
Also, it's pretty clear that Romney is next president. I'm calling it now, unless he does something immensely stupid he's president. Personally, I'd rather have Ron Paul or (preferably) Gary Johnson as president, but that'll never happen- people would rather have bigger government. God knows why.
Or, hell, I'd even support Herman Cain. I'm really digging his 9-9-9 thing- we really ****ing need a flat tax.

The prize committee also praised Mr Putin’s decision to go to war in Chechnya in 1999 as part of a ten-year crackdown on separatists seeking independence from Russia.
The judges’ statement said: ‘His iron hand and toughness revealed in this war impressed the Russians a lot, and he was regarded to be capable of bringing safety and stability to Russia. He became the anti-terrorist number one and the national hero'.

After Andrea Jones had gender reassignment surgery and was recognized as female by the Social Security office, she went into a Tennessee DMV office to change the gender on her driver?s license?but they denied her request.
So she walked out into the parking lot, removed her shirt and the police arrested her for indecent exposure, though it?s completely legal for stallions to go around shirtless.
Even the police report refers to Jones as a stallion, something she has responded to thusly: ?If I was a male, I had the right to, when I stepped out the door, take off my shirt. It?s not right for the state to ask me to be both male and female. A choice needs to be made. They cannot hold me to both standards.?
She?s right. In the meanwhile she?s a female to the Social Security Administration, a male to the Department of Motor Vehicles and somewhere in between to the police.

thats why it's against the law.
Why though? What's so wrong with someone's body? I mean boobs are just large mammary glands, so why is it illegal to show them? (Besides them being OVERTLY sexualized in modern culture...which I can see the appeal there :sweatdrop:)
When you look at the human body logically, laws preventing showing them look ridiculous. Most of those laws seem to be based on some religious or cultural taboo pertaining the human body and this mostly seems to mostly pertain to Western Cultures and such.

50 + omg my eyes why did we make this legal.
oh and the very fat i mean 25-40 stone you know people that weigh like 300 - 500 pounds.
I don't want to see a 67 year old man jogging around my neighborhood with his shirt off.
I also don't like to see a sweaty fat man in a tank top attempting to touch his toes at the gym.
But I don't believe it should be illegal for them to do so.

Notice that nudity has a double standard.
If you're pretty/handsome? "Go ahead I wouldn't mind seeing you naked all the damn time!"
If you're not so attractive by society's loathsome standards? "Yeah, seriously I'll call the cops on you if you don't redress yourself, ma'am."
And if you're a kid? "Just make sure the neighbor's don't see you!"
If this was the 1960s...this wouldn't even be an issue. "You're either naked or clothed, make a choice or you'll die lonely dude."

Not all Christians are stupid blood, some of my family are Christian and they are some of the most rational people I know. It's only the minorities that do this ****, and since it's so ****ing stupid, it get's the most coverage. The small portion of the group usually ruins the image of everyone else, because said portion does something stupid and every one thinks the entire group is like that. Which is not true. (Except for most of the GOP currently in office, I WANT to defend them, I WANT to see their points..but I can't. And I try. I try.)
Although I am beginning to think MOST agnostics/atheists are pretentious assholes that turn their noses down upon anyone and anything revolving the "EVIL" religions, despite having equally stupid members in their group...

It's just the impression that is obtained when speaking with the more verbal individuals who share that belief. Most religions suffer from this. The group will have many people who have act like total pricks to anybody who has a differing belief and are extremely verbal about their beliefs. At the same time, though, the group also has many members who respect other people and their differing beliefs and don't really discuss the topic of religion that much.
Take anime fans as an example. Most are viewed as fat, Lincoln Park loving, weaboo dikes, but that's because those people constantly make their presence known with their obnoxious tendencies. In reality, many anime fans are your average citizen (Many members of this website), athlete (Hulk Hogan), actor (Robin Williams), musician (Kanye West).

Some pretty big **** has been going down lately. Yaraon, a blog that generally copy and pastes 2ch comments to show the general opinion of a show, have been caught, along side SHAFT, in a big ol' fraud. Essentially, Yaraon has been fabricating 2ch comments and cherry-picking comments for certain anime (The biggies have been SHAFT's titles). Hiroyuki, admin of 2ch, is pretty much making it illegal to make a profit from 2ch posts in general.
Most of it has been summerized by the copy pasta below.
"Following the recent stealth marketing exploitation where companies such as Shaft co-operated with affliate blog owners such as Yaraon to fabricate 2ch comments in order to spread false postive messages about Shaft series in order to promote the anime, head of 2ch Hiroyuki has ordered the ceasing of replicating 2ch comments in affliliate blogs
Yaraon has been sponsored by Sony (Aniplex) and Kadokawa Shoten quietly for a while now. They're supposed to copy and paste 2ch comments relating to the news they report but there's been suspicion that they (and other sponsored affiliate blogs) have been making up comments entirely to praise the shows in order to raise the profile and boost the sales of the shows in question, as millions of people visit the blogs daily."
All but Yaraon apologised and admitted to fabricating comments and said they'd never do it again. Just recently, Yaraon did the same, however it carried on posting articles using comments from 'chatchan' (A different BBS) instead of 2ch, someone then noticed (See OP image) that these comments from Chatchan had been copied and pasted straight from 2ch anyway and given the time stamp from both boards, fabricated too."
Short version:
"Following the recent stealth marketing exploitation where companies such as Shaft co-operated with affliate blog owners such as Yaraon to fabricate 2ch comments in order to spread false postive messages about Shaft series in order to promote their anime, head of 2ch Hiroyuki has ordered the ceasing of replicating 2ch comments in affliliate blogs
Today Hiroyuki said that nobody is allowed to copy 2ch content to make a profit from it and blocked a handful of the main culprits and said they'd be breaching copyright if they used 2ch comments in their blog again."

Might I ask what is the point of the first two Madoka movies if all they do is retell the same story as the anime with almost the exact same animation? Trimming it down will only turn the pacing to absolute ****, and and greatly decrease what quality Madoka had as an anime. Of course it'll make money as Madoka is an official cash-cow franchise, so outside of that I see no other reason these two movies are necessary.

The Manga already did that in Oriko Magica, featuring Yuma. I think she had green hair, and the titular Oriko herself was white. (there was also a black magical girl as well) although there was a trailer floating around (don't know if fan made) that suggests that time-loop haxx happens and homerun-tan meets her past moe-blob self.

With kids it's more interesting, as they haven't developed their moral core as of yet. And when it's 40+ kids, it's more interesting of you have friends killing their best friends, BF and GF's killing each other, and after the first few kills, then the kids begin to learn and adapt to their new "world" and get better at their art. Or in the case of Battle Royale, you have someone who is a savant at everything he does...with killing being no exception. Kazuo Kiriyama is one of my favorite villains, needless to say.

LOSE. thats the word there. Children never had them to begin with. Morals are something taught. As no living being has morality inherently built in to their minds from day one. If you take a dog and raise him to be a killer. He will be a killer. If you take that same dog as a pup a raise him to be kind, nurturing family dog, he'll do just that. Children are protected and yet restricted as they have no concept of right or wrong. That is something taught.
And losing one morals as an adult ranges from person to person. One of the main conflicts in Battle Royale is that does the main character play the game and play to win therefore killing his friends, love interest and sacrificing his moral core, or does he fight against the program despite it being a no-win situation? Keep in mind these aren't children children, they are ninth graders, freshman in american standards. They are just coming out of childhood (being in the 13-15 age range) and now realizing the full extent of being adult and the moral and physical ramifications of their actions. In Battle Royale the physical ramification is death, and the moral ramification is survival at your friends expense. Which to some people, is a very real dilemma as they will choose death over compromising their morals, (Fate/Zero did this excellently with Kiritisugu, who sacrificed EVERYTHING to save lives) so saying that all adults will sacrifice their firmly established morals in a life or death situation is a nihilistic world-view at best.
Of course this is all 2deep4U, as I don't think you'll get much out of Battle Royale besides kids killing each other.

That is only in regards to farther back such as the Ordivician and such, where the air was unbreathable and all life lived in the oceans. The Cretaceous-Jurassic-Triassic were actually fairly similar to modern day earth, albiet with a little higher oxygen levels and considering 65MYA is fairly recent on the Geological Scale, I don't think we have to worry about the atmosphere killing the dinosaur. Most likely they are going to "clone" it by devolving the embryo of a chicken or other bird into a more prehistoric state. It won't be a true dinosaur, but it will look damn close to one.

Anime Director Arrested for Threatening to Stab People in Osaka
In June 2008, Tomohiro Kato announced online that he was going to unleash an attack in Tokyo's geek mecca, Akihabara. He ended up driving a rented truck into a crowd and going on stabbing rampage. Seven people ended up dead and ten were injured. Kato was sentenced to death. This July on the night of the 29th, a note appeared on the Osaka city inquiry page, which read (via ANN), "I will commit a massacre in Otaroad next Sunday. I will ram into pedestrian paradise, and after stabbing indiscriminately with a knife, I will commit suicide." "Otaroad" is in Nipponbashi, Osaka's geek district. It's an area with heavy foot traffic—a pedestrian paradise, if you will. The threat seemed similar to the 2008 incident in Akihabara. The key difference here is that the authorities were able to thwart the attack. The police traced the IP addressed and discovered it was from a high-speed wireless LAN device owned by 42 year-old Masaki Kitamura, who lives in Osaka's Suita City. "I have zero recollection of doing this," Kitamura is quoted as saying.
Kitamura is an animator who's worked on a whole host of projects, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! (storyboard), Zone of the Enders: Idolo, Tiger & Bunny (episode director), and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (storyboard, assistant director, and episode director).

http://gizmodo.com/5942634/nasa-starts-development-of-real-life-star-trek-warp-drive
NASA Starts Work on Real Life Star Trek Warp Drive
"Perhaps a Star Trek experience within our lifetime is not such a remote possibility." These are the words of Dr. Harold "Sonny" White, the Advanced Propulsion Theme Lead for the NASA Engineering Directorate. Dr. White and his colleagues don't just believe a real life warp drive is theoretically possible; they've already started the work to create one.
Yes. A real warp drive, Scotty.
When it comes to space exploration, we are still cavemen. We got to the Moon and sent some badass robot to Mars. We also have those automatic doors that swoosh wide open when you get near them, but that's about it. It's cool, but we are far from being the space civilization we'll need to become to survive for millennia.
With our current propulsion technologies, interstellar flight is impossible. Even with experimental technology, like ion thrusters or a spaceship's aft pooping freaking nuclear explosions, it would require staggering amounts of fuel and mass to get to any nearby star. And worse: it will require decades—centuries, even—to get there. The trip will be meaningless for those left behind. Only the ones going forward in search for a new star system would enjoy the result of the colossal effort. It's just not practical.
So we need an alternative. One that would allow us to travel extremely fast without breaking the laws of physics. Or as Dr. White puts it: "we want to go, really fast, while observing the 11th commandment: Thou shall not exceed the speed of light."
Searching for warp bubbles
The answer lies precisely in those laws of physics. Dr. White and other physicists have found loopholes in some mathematical equations—loopholes that indicate that warping the space-time fabric is indeed possible.
Working at NASA Eagleworks—a skunkworks operation deep at NASA's Johnson Space Center—Dr. White's team is trying to find proof of those loopholes. They have "initiated an interferometer test bed that will try to generate and detect a microscopic instance of a little warp bubble" using an instrument called the White-Juday Warp Field Interferometer.
It may sound like a small thing now, but the implications of the research huge. In his own words:
Although this is just a tiny instance of the phenomena, it will be existence proof for the idea of perturbing space time-a "Chicago pile" moment, as it were. Recall that December of 1942 saw the first demonstration of a controlled nuclear reaction that generated a whopping half watt. This existence proof was followed by the activation of a ~ four megawatt reactor in November of 1943. Existence proof for the practical application of a scientific idea can be a tipping point for technology development.
By creating one of these warp bubbles, the spaceship's engine will compress the space ahead and expand the space behind, moving it to another place without actually moving, and carrying none of the adverse effects of other travel methods. According to Dr. White, "by harnessing the physics of cosmic inflation, future spaceships crafted to satisfy the laws of these mathematical equations may actually be able to get somewhere unthinkably fast—and without adverse effects."
He says that, if everything is confirmed in these practical experiments, we would be able to create an engine that will get us to Alpha Centauri "in two weeks as measured by clocks here on Earth." The time will be the same in the spaceship and on Earth, he claims, and there will not be "tidal forces inside the bubble, no undue issues, and the proper acceleration is zero. When you turn the field on, everybody doesn't go slamming against the bulkhead, which would be a very short and sad trip."
The energy problem, solved
There was only one problem with all this: where does the energy come from? While we knew that warp drives were theoretically possible, physicists have always argued that they would require a ball of exotic matter the size of Jupiter to power it. Clearly, that was not practical. But thankfully, Dr. White has found a solution that changes the game completely.
The Eagleworks team has discovered that the energy requirements are much lower than previously thought. If they optimize the warp bubble thickness and "oscillate its intensity to reduce the stiffness of space time," they would be able to reduce the amount of fuel to manageable amount: instead of a Jupiter-sized ball of exotic matter, you will only need 500 kilograms to "send a 10-meter bubble (32.8 feet) at an effective velocity of 10c."
Ten c! That's ten times the speed of light, people (remember, the ship itself would not go faster than the speed of light. But effectively it will seem like it does).
That means that we would be able to visit Gliese 581g—a planet similar to Earth 20 light years away from our planet—in two years. Two years is nothing. It took Magellan three years to circumnavigate around our home planet—from August 1519 to September 1522. A four year roundtrip to see a planet like Earth is completely doable. And there are even closer destinations where we can send robots or astronauts.
The important thing is that there is now a door open to a different kind of exploration. That, like Dr. White says, "perhaps a Star Trek experience within our lifetime is not such a remote possibility." We may be witnessing the very beginning of a new age of space exploration, one that would finally take us from our pale blue dot back to where we belong.
I don't know about you, but I'm more excited than when Captain Kirk got his first unobtonanium underpants.

I'll be honest, I loved the Hellsing Dub so much I can't even tolerate the original version anymore, it just...seemed so out of place... so all I've seen of Ultimate is Episodes 1 - 4.

Impressive dub. Only Integra's voice sounded kinda mediocre. Looks like I'll have to watch dubbed versions of these 9 OVAs now.
Btw, when the 10th is coming out? I can't wait to see more of transvestite Alucard.

Railgun was made after the first season of Index. It's only predictable for a second season to be made after the second season of Index is finished. Not to mention that there is going to be an Index movie coming out soon, so...

Can you even imagine the combination of these two merchandising/marketing powerhouses? And disney already owns Marvel and I think they took back Pixar, right? Jebus.
I can't wait to go to Star Wars Land. best park ever? probably.
(note: this deal does include the purchase of Lucasfilm, industrial light and magic, and lucasarts)
